Chapter 106
Lydia
I ced the napkin on the table after wiping my lips, eager to get this over with.
“Let’s make it quick, I’m very busy,” I said.
He leaned out of his chair, sping his hands together, “Of course.” He said, looking directly into my eyes, “Did you think
about it?”
Watching the eagerness in his eyes, like a boy asking for toys from his mom, I am tempted to tell him I did.
But I don’t want to lie to him, so I told him the truth. “I didn’t.” His shoulder slumped down, and his gaze. I had so much to do, and with my decision already made, there was no need to think about anything.
He tried to smile, but his lips shook. He was expecting a more positive answer from me. “Well, that’s okay, it doesn’t matter even if you have not thought about it, we can still talk about it.” I nodded, suddenly feeling the need to wrap my hand over anything.
“It maye as though I have been repeating myself, but I think if we want to make this fast, I may have to tell you why I need to be in the twins‘ lives.” I nodded, urging him to continue, knowing that no matter what he said, my decision wouldn’t change.
As the twins‘ mother, I must protect them from any threat to their life. Mason was counted as a threat.
“Go on.” I encourage when it seems like he was looking at me for permission.
“First, I have no idea that you were pregnant with my children. If I had known then, things wouldn’t have ended the way they did.”
Does this mean he would not have tried to kill me? No, maybe he would probably have waited for me to give birth before he tried to kill me after taking the babies. I shoved at that thought, knowing fully well that I would not have been able to
survive.
“I love the twins. Since I got to know about them, they have been what has been keeping me going. I wasn’t in their life at the beginning, but I really want to be in it now. I want them to know they have a father who is active in thei paused and then continued.

“It’s clear why you’ve been so hard on me and yourself. I understand why you are doing all these things, but I think it would be wise to let you know that I don’t expect your forgiveness, at least not now.”
His eyes flickered behind me, then back to mine; they were getting misty. “I just want them to know that I care for them. Even if you hate me, don’t you think they deserve to know the truth, that I am their dad?”
“Mason, you only got one chance. You blew it when you mmed the divorce papers on my face over five years ago.” I couldn’t forget about that day, even if I wanted to. The memories stuck with me like a ma.
“I never-” No, I don’t wait for him to finish; he can save whatever excuse he was about to give.

“You blew your chance for good when you did whatever you did and lost a pen. I’m quite sure you are still in search of it. considering how much you loved and valued it.” My lips pulled to the side.
His pen has been found on the scene. It was one of the pieces of evidence pointing directly at him.
“I don’t understand what you are saying.”
“Of course you don’t.” I reached for a ss of water and took a slow sip, now wanting to get away from him.
I had already made up my mind. “You keep saying you want to be in their life and you care for them. Well, breaking news, caring from afar means nothing. Where were you when I gave birth to them alone?” My eyes were blurry at this point.
It took all of me to hold back my tears and speak softly when all I wanted to do was scream at him at the top of my voice while hitting his chest.
He is such a jerk. He doesn’t have the right to shed any tears.
“I’m sorry.”
“I told you, I didn’t kill him.” I lunged, not caring if he saw how much it hurt me that he didn’t believe me and had
abandoned me.
“I tried to exin to you. If you had trusted me then, we wouldn’t be here. You have only yourself to me for losing the
twins.”
I wiped the tears that fell on my cheeks with my thumb. I truly need to leave this ce. I can’t be here for a second.
“Besides, you have a child on its way already, do the right thing and stay beside her this time so you don’t have to beg like this again five yearster,” I said.
“Lydia… Julia is different. My rtionship with the baby is healthy.”
I scoffed, holding myself back from mocking his healthy rtionship with a nonexistent baby.
“Then
go and continue to keep it healthy. You know how jealous your fiancée is,” I know how much he hates it when she is referred to as his fiancée.
from “If she finds out you were here, it may lead to another argument. So…” I stood pushing my chair back, “to save you any stress, I should leave. My decision is still the same as it has ever been. Keep your side of the bargain, you promised to take my decision, whatever it was.”
He stood, “Goodbye, Mr. Woods. I hope we never have to meet again.” About this.
I walked out, my legs shaking, and tempted to give up. This was the right decision, right? I don’t know, but it took all in me not to break down.
I was about to open my car door and step in when Mason appeared behind me and held my hand.
“Lydia, please,” he went on his knees, and my eyes widened. We were soonmanding the attention of everyone
around.
11:56 Sun, 3 Aug
“What are you doing, Mason?” I asked, meeting his height, “Stand up right now.” I threw a curious gaze around. The smile tried to keep on my face shook.
“Please, can’t you just allow me to be with them? What if they start asking for me? What would you tell them?”
“Alright, stand up. Let’s talk about it ”
“We’ve done that three times now.” He said, pinned on making us a spectacle.
We were drawing a crowd, and I saw some people with their phones up. Thest thing I wanted was to be roped into any rumors with him and pegged as a home wrecker or mistress, so I said, “Fine. I’ll allow you to see them.”
“And be in their life as their father?” He requested.
This funny man, how dare he try to do this? “Yes. You will.” I said through gritted teeth. He may not be ashamed of causing a scene; however, that can not be said about me. He finally stood up.
I looked around onest time before opening my car door, “Come with me.” I said, and he got into the passenger seat. I drove off, fist tightened over the steering wheel.
When I got to a safe distance, I pulled over to the side of the road, my hands still on the steering wheel.
“What were you thinking? Why’d you do that…” I pushed my public.”
through my hair, anger brimming within me, “In
“I’m sorry, Lydia, but you left me with no choice.” He stared at me, his gaze soft, as though he didn’t just try to ruin my life.
“People were everywhere, people were looking, and you dare act like it’s nothing? We were being filmed. What if Liam or Mnie sees it?”
They were the reason why I do not want this to be made public. The inte never forgets. If they grow up and find an article calling me a home wrecker, I would not be able to live with myself.
I don’t care if Julia or Victoria sees it. All I care about is my twins.
“Don’t worry, I’ll take care of that.”
“You promise to allow me to see the twins. Maybe we should go now.” He is smiling now. I red at him. Is. expected that. As always, he is selfish and would find any way to manipte his way out of any situation.
“You only get to see them, but this doesn’t mean I have forgiven you,” I stated firmly, and he nodded.
“I’ll give you one more chance with the twins, blow it, and you’ll never get to see them again.”

“Thank you, Lydia.” He reached for my hand and squeezed it in his. My walls cracked when I saw the relief and joy in his
eyes.
“You don’t know what this means to me.” Tears fell on his cheeks, “And I’ll do whatever I have to do to earn your forgiveness.” I removed my hand from his and looked away.
“You’ll only get supervised visits.” I said, and added, “Plus, Julia must not find out about the twins. Never!
