Nathan’s injury was on the lower part of his right shoulder, leaving his whole right arm pretty much useless. Even something as simple as eating had be a hassle.
“Let me help you sit up,” I said, walking over to the bed and bending down to support his other arm.
As I leaned over, my loose hair slipped down, nding softly in the crook of Nathan’s arm. He pushed himself up, and I noticed a faint blush creeping across his handsome face.
I set the meal in front of him. “Let me feed you. Your right hand’s out ofmission.”
“It’s okay, I can manage with my left,” Nathan replied with a gentle smile, turning down my offer.
“You’re not really used to using your left hand, are you?” I figured he was just feeling a bit shy about it.
He was this badly hurt–of course I should help him. There was nothing to be embarrassed about.
“My left hand works just as well as my right. When things get busy, I can even write with it,” Nathan said with a smile.
“Really?” I was genuinely surprised. I hadn’t expected Nathan to be so good with both hands. People say those who can use both hands are supposed to be really smart–looks like Nathan definitely is.
Sure enough, Nathan handled everything with his left hand like it was nothing.
I sat beside him, just watching as he ate. After a couple of bites, Nathan nced over at me. “Have you eaten yet?”
“I’m not hungry,” I said, shaking my head.
“Come on, that’s not good for you. Skipping meals will mess up your stomach. Eat a little with me, okay?” Nathan urged, concern in his voice.
I couldn’t refuse, so I picked up my fork and joined him.
The room was quiet, the only sound the gentle hum of the heater.
We chatted about work as we ate. Nathan exined some business stuff to me, but it all went over my head. I just couldn’t wrap my mind around it.
Seeing my confused expression, Nathan chuckled softly. “Alright, I guess all this business talk is a bit much. Don’t worry, your money’s in good hands. Mr. Hob’s been giving me some great advicetely. His ideas and insights into the future are really valuable. I didn’t expect him to know so much about tech and renewable energy.”
I froze for a second. Jared had invested in Nathan’spany, and with all those memories from his previous life, he understood the ins and outs of tech development way better than I ever could as a housewife. With Jared showing Nathan the way, who knows–maybe hispany could go higher and further than anyone expected.

Jared really was a sly fox. Young as he was, he never seemed to lose out when it came to investment strategy. I should definitely pick his brain about investing whenever I get the chance. If I follow his lead, I bet I could dodge a ton of risks.
“I’m really d you two can get along,” I said with a smile.
“Honestly, we never really saw eye to eye, but since our interests are tied together, we just have to talk,” Nathan replied with a helpless smile.
Thinking about that little group chat where Nathan and Jared were always butting heads, I couldn’t help but press my lips together to stifle augh.
“What’s so funny?” Nathan asked, his deep gaze lingering on my face for a few seconds, almost mesmerized.
I started telling him about his arguments with Jared in the group chat. Nathan put down his fork andzily leaned his left shoulder against the pillow. “Work’s already stressful enough. Sometimes, a bit of bickering and venting is just how we blow off steam.”
“Well, this time it’s all Jared’s fault you got hurt. Next time you want to argue with him, just go for it–don’t bother being polite,” I said.
Nathan gave me a meaningful look. “If I hadn’t gotten injured, how else would I get to enjoy this quiet time alone with you? Honestly, I don’t think it’s such a bad thing.”
I blinked, then said softly, almost reproachful, “Nathan, getting hurt is really scary. I don’t want you treating it like some kind of bonus in life. I just want you to stay safe, always–no more getting hurt, okay?”
Seeing how serious I was, Nathan finally dropped the yful act.
“Alright, I’ll make sure to take care of myself and not get hurt again. Please don’t be mad at me over something like this, okay?” Nathan said, his voice gentle.
“I’m not mad,” I said, shaking my head. I got up, cleared the table, and poured Nathan a cup of hot water.
“Do you want an apple?” I asked him.
“Sure!” Nathan leaned backfortably, his whole demeanor easy and gentle.
