Chapter 294
Tracy’s words didn’t faze me at all. I just gave a faint smile and said, “I’m not interested in whatever’s going on between you and Jared. If you just came here to talk about that-”
“Ms. Murphy, I heard from Sally that Jared’s been pretty down since the divorce. Do you have any idea why?” Tracy cut me off.
I was taken aback, and then shook my head. “I don’t know what’s going on with him anymore after we divorced.”

“But you loved him for seven years,“–Tracy said. “It’s quite a period in a person’s life. They say you loved him so much that you lost yourself. Ms. Murphy, I think I can understand how you felt, because I love him too.”
Tracy lowered her head, stirring her coffee with a bitter smile. “Just like you, I love him so much that it’s almost making me lose myself. But his attitude to me has been
unpredictable.
“I just can’t figure him out. I thought your divorce would be my chance, but instead, he’s gotten even colder, barely talks to me anymore.”
Seeing Tracy so wrecked and miserable because of love, I couldn’t help but feel a twisted sense of satisfaction. So, Jared didn’t discriminate when it came to breaking women’s
hearts–he treated everyone the same.
“Ms. Darwin, you should be saying all this to Jared, not me. Aren’t you worried I’ll justugh at you?” I gave a calm smile.
“I’m not afraid of it anymore,” Tracy said, biting her lip. “I just want to know, Ms. Murphy, why did
you try to take revenge on him after you got married?”
“What are you talking about?” I paused with my coffee, staring at Tracy. “Are you sure you’re
not joking? Me? I’m way too nice to y those kinds of revenge games.”
Tracy ignored sarcasm in my voice and looked at me seriously. “I don’t know what you did to pull him back to you, but think your tricks are pretty shameless.”
My mind was blown. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I doubt Tracy still had any shame left. “Tracy, you were the one who came between me and Jared.

“I didn’t even make a scene with you–that’s me being decent. I asked for a divorce calmly, just to save the dignity of both of you. So, tell me, do you think I was wrong?” I shot her a cold smile as I spoke.
Tracy’s face darkened, but she managed a weak smile. “You got divorced because your marriage was already a lost cause, totally stagnant. Staying together would’ve just made you miserable.”
“If you hadn’t been messing around with him, I’d still be stuck in the fantasy he spun for me. Who are you to say I wasn’t happy?” I shot back coldly.
Tracy didn’t know how to retort. Then she let out a sigh. “I guess I underestimated you and overestimated myself.
“I thought you two split because the love was gone, but I never expected Jared to suddenly do a 180 and try to get you back after the divorce. Doesn’t that mean he still has feelings for
you?”
“Who are you to ask me that? His girlfriend? Or the woman he never dared to call his own?”
I shot back, my tone cutting.
Tracy’s face went ghostly pale. She looked visibly ufortable. “I just want to figure out how you got him toe running back to you.”
“Because I don’t love him anymore,” I replied with a cold smile. “He’s poured so much into
me–his feelings, his money, and we even have a daughter. No guy wants to just let go after
all that.”
Tracy’s eyes went wide. She’s smart and prettyid–back, but when it came to being sophisticated, she’s just not in my league.
“Jared himself can’t even exin what he feels for me, but at the end of the day, he’s just too hung up to walk away,” I said.
I grabbed my bag and got to my feet. “Chasing men seems to be your specialty, so knock yourself out.”
“Victoria,” Tracy suddenly called after me. I stopped and turned to look at her. She rushed over and said, “If you’re not nning to take him back, then don’t y with his heart. It’s not going to end well for you.”

“Is that supposed to be a threat? Jared’s got money and connections, and he’s backing my career right now. How is that not good for me?
