Loose 291

Listening to Jared’s deep and gentle voice, I could tell he still doted on Yvonne. This child was lucky to be born into a good family and have a wealthy and loving father like Jared.

When we finally arrived, the car pulled up in front of a high–end residentialplex. I nced out the window, a little confused, and asked Jared, “Where is this ce?”

Jared got out, took my suitcase for me, and told the driver to leave. Then he turned to me.

    “This is your new home.”

With that, he led me into theplex. I took the key from my bag, took the suitcase from him, and said, “Thank you for the ride.”

Jared’s expression stiffened a little. “Aren’t you going to invite me upstairs for a bit?”

I smiled immediately. “Sorry, it’s not convenient right now.”

Jared raised an eyebrow, his tone dripping with sarcasm. “What if it had been Nathan who brought you here today?”

“Of course, I’d invite him up for a cup of coffee. He went out of his way to see me off,” I

    replied.

“Are you standing guard over me, Victoria? Do you see me as some kind of threat?” Jared

    suddenly red up with anger.

I let out a softugh. “Mr. Hob, no need to get upset. I think defined boundaries after divorce would create a fairer situation for your future spouse.”

Jared red at me in frustration. “Don’t give me these excuses. You’re clearly on guard against me.”

    I shrugged. “Isn’t that reasonable?”

Seeing that I waspletely shutting him out, not giving him even the slightest chance for anything ambiguous, Jared frowned and said, “Didn’t you say I couldn’t afford to y? Victoria, you’re the one who can’t afford it.”

    I was taken aback.

    08 41 Fri, 22 Aug 17 7.

    ?

    66%

Jared went on, “Anyway, it doesn’t matter who you y with, does it? Why can’t it be me?”

I stared at him in shock. “Jared, do you even hear what you’re saying? How am I supposed to y with you? And how much do you think you’re worth?”

Jared’s handsome face flushed with embarrassment and anger. He bit his lip. “We’re adults.

How do you want to y?”

I understood what he meant. He was referring to sex with no emotional involvement.

“Sorry, but I’m bored with you. There’s no novelty left,” I said with a smile.

“Victoria, are you trying to humiliate me?” Jared was fuming.

I shook my head. “No, I just don’t want to y with you anymore. You should leave. I’ll be on time for the meeting at the hotel tomorrow.”

With that, I turned and headed toward Building 7. Jared was frozen, looking genuinely pissed off.

When I reached the elevator, I still saw him standing there under the lights. I let out a coldugh. Jared was really ridiculous. When I loved him, he ignored me. Now that I didn’t, he

    clung on.

Perhaps Ryan was right that guys liked being mistreated.

They seemed to enjoy it even though it made them unhappy.

I could see it now–Jared was really chasing after me. He’d even dumped Tracy, the one he’d doted on in my previous life. How ironic.

I took the elevator up to the 15th floor and unlocked the door. It was a fully decorated

    apartment ready for move–in.

It was a 170–plus–square–meter t, and from the window, I could even see the beach. This location was amazing.

I stood on the balcony, breathing in the fresh air and admiring the stunning night view. I felt

    great.

That night, I actually had a wet dream–so intense that I even… climaxed in it. It was

unbelievable. I wondered if it was because I hadn’t been intimate with anyone for too long.

In the dream, I couldn’t quite see the man’s face. He just kept working away.

When I woke up in the morning, Iughed at myself, embarrassed. That dream felt way too

    real.

I changed into a tailored suit and arrived at the hotel for the meeting at 9:30. Jared sat in the main seat, looking tired. His eyes were dark as he stared at me, like I’d broken his heart.

I focused on the meeting, ignoring Jared’s deep, probing gaze.

After the meeting ended and everyone headed off to lunch, Jared caught up with me in a deserted hallway. He stopped me and asked, “Victoria, how’s the new ce? Do you like

    it?”

    I nodded. “Yes, not bad.”

Jared leaned in, his voice low right by my ear. “You once said three million for one night…

    Does that offer still stand?”
