Chapter 7
Every word I said hit Alex where it hurt. []
He kept his head down, his expression terrifyingly dark.[]
But Tori flew into a rage, charging at Morrison and me while shrieking. I
“What a load of crap! I bet you and this home–wrecker have been having an affair all along, trying to dump Alex so you can run off together! You bit-“]
Before she could finish saying “bitch,” I grabbed a cymbal from one of the banddies and nged it over her head.
“Is it your turn to talk? Still running your mouth?“]
Tori burst into tears.
Alex pulled her behind him, his eyes darkly scanning between Morrison and me: “You’re pretty eager to leave – did she hit a nerve?”
Unexpectedly, a young woman stepped out from the marching band and spoke up first. []
“I don’t know if she’s nervous, but I can see you’re cornered like a rat.” The girl walked over to Morrison and linked her arm through his: “I’m Morrison’s girlfriend – surprise! I even sponsored these banners! You cheating scumbags have no right to trash Morrison and Penny’s friendship!“]
Alex finallypletely panicked: “Penny, I was wrong.“[]
I pped him across the face: “Get lost!“]
Tori screamed and lunged to bite me, so I backhanded her too: “You get lost too!“]
Before leaving, I pointed at Alex’s nose: “Remember – walking away with nothing is thest dignity you’ll have.“]
Tori clutched her face, ring at me viciously: “In your dreams! If anyone’s leaving, it’s you!“[]
The banddies who’d been silent exchanged nces: “Should we?” “If you do, I will!” “Get them!“[]
I left the chaos and screaming behind me. On the way back, I felt numb like an empty shell. With my heart dead, I actually felt lighter. []
Those memories that used to hurt just thinking about them couldn’t stir even the slightest ripple now.
“So infuriating! But if Alex deliberately drags out the divorce, that’ll be annoying,” Morrison said through gritted teeth.[]
“He won’t. He’s a smart guy who cares about face,” I smiled faintly. “I have ways to make him beg me for this divorce on his knees.”
Yesterday’s livestream had already gone viral online. []
When the Nth rtive came to “check on” Alex, he wanted to defend himself in the family group chat first, but his message
showed he’d been removed – by his father.]
He furiously messaged his dad: “Whose side are you on?“]
His father only replied: “Who is this?”
Alex’s face darkened: “If Mom finds out how you’re treating me, she’ll definitely divorce you!” But the message failed to send – he’d been blocked.]]
Breathing heavily, he messaged his mother toin, but received a “disownment letter” instead. []
Furious and twisted with rage, he then saw his mother’s new social media post. []
A photo of her hugging me tight with the caption: “Damn it! The nurse must have switched babies at birth – I raised a piece of shit and lost my real daughter.“[]
Alex nearly smashed his phone. []
Yeah, when his mother was seriously ill for three years, I was the one who cared for her day and night until she recovered. []
When his father got in a fight with someone, I was the one who rushed forward and took that potentially fatal blow.
As he was throwing a tantrum in his office, smashing things, I appeared again with divorce papers and stock transfer agreements. “Sign them all.“]]
Alex turned away, refusing to look. I yanked him out of the CEO chair. He raged: “How dare you!“[]
I settledfortably in the chair and smiled: “You’ve been fired by the board!“]]
“On what grounds?” he demanded furiously.]
I threw another document in front of him: “Did Mr. Sterling really think I couldn’t find records of you embezzlingpany funds to buy Tori houses, cars, and luxury goods? Every transaction, crystal clear!“]]
“Sign the papers, or go to prison – your choice.“]]
