Chapter 106

As he spoke, William handed the car keys to Liz.

Liz reached out to take them, nodded, and said, “Alright.”

The two of them got into the car. Once Liz started it, she inmediately noticed it handled much better than before. “How does it feel?” William asked.

“I don’t know if it’s just me, but it feels like apletely different car. Even the eleration is smoother than before.”

“As long as you’refortable with it, that’s what matters.”

Half an hourter, Liz parked in front of a private restaurant.

Just as they stepped inside, they spotted Jack and Victoria sitting by the window. Victoria was wiping away tears, while Jack sat opposite her, looking indifferent and expressionless.

Liz was a little surprised. On Jane’s birthday, when Jack had stepped in to help her out of an awkward situation, it had been clear he and Victoria weren’t close. She never would have expected to see them having a meal together in priyáte.

She hesitated, wondering if she should go over and say hello, when Jack suddenly looked up and saw them. He froze for a moment, then a smile tugged at his lips as he lifted a hand in greeting.

Liz turned to William. “Mr. Sanders, let’s go say hi.”

    William nodded. “Alright.”

They walked over to the table and greeted Jack.

“Jack, what a coincidence. You’re eating here too?” Liz said with a polite smile.

She only acknowledged Jack, deliberately ignoring Victoria as though she wasn’t there.

Jack arched a brow, his gaze shifting to William with open amusement. “So, you and William are this close now?”

In the past, William had been the kind of man no one could get close to in their department. He rarely even joined group dinners, and it was impossible for female colleagues to invite him out alone.

Some people even joked that he might not be interested in women at all. Only now did they realize he had simply never met the right one.

“My car was in the shop for a while, so Mr. Sanders has been giving me rides to and from work. He even delivered the car back to me today, so I wanted to treat him to dinner as thanks,” Liz exined.

Jack raised his brows again, smiling. “That exins why your surgeries have all been scheduled in the eveningstely…”

He hadn’t even finished when William cut in smoothly. “Looks like you and thisdy have things to discuss. We won’t intrude.”

Jack’s smile deepened, but he didn’t push further. “Alright Liz, drop by the house sometime when you’re free.”

    “Sure,” Liz replied.

After Liz and William left, the smile faded from Jack’s face. He turned a cold gaze on Victoria.

“Ms. Harris, there’s nothing I can do about the Harris Corporation. You should look for someone else.”

With that, he stood up and walked away.

Victoria’s face paled. She scrambled to her feet and hurried after him, blocking his path at the door.

“Mr. Stone, if you’re willing to help the Harris Corporation through this crisis, I’ll forget about what happened before and won’t bother you again. If you refuse, Harris Corporation really will go bankrupt.”

Her voice trembled with desperation, her eyes full of pleading. She had no idea why several of their most important partners had suddenly canceled their contracts in just the past few days. At this rate, thepany wouldn’tst a month.

Jack was silent for a long moment before answering in an icy tone. “Just this once.”

Hearing him relent, Victoria exhaled in relief. She rushed to assure him, “I swear, I’ll never bother you again!”

“Remember what you said. Otherwise, the Harris Corporation’s fate will be even worse than it is now.”
