“Voyager Tech is about to release a new chip designed specifically for autonomous driving. If Smith Corporation buys the chips from us, I can sell them to you at half the market price,” Zac said.
A flicker of surprise crossed Michael’s eyes, but he didn’t look particrly tempted. He knew Zac would never offer such a deal out of generosity. There had to be something in it for him.
“What’s your motive?” Michael asked.
Zac smiled faintly. “It’s simple. I want to marry Liz. And for that, I want her reinstated in the Smith family so she can marry me as the Smith family heiress.”
Michael’s face darkened, though he remained silent.
When Liz had severed ties with the Smiths, he had sworn never to acknowledge her again. Later, when Zac’s business began to thrive, Mrs. Smith had thought about reaching out to Liz, but Michael had stopped her. In his mind, it was the child’s duty to apologize to the parents, never the other way around.
He looked at Zac coldly. “If I remember correctly, Mr. Lincoln, Voyager Tech recently issued a statement saying you and Liz had already broken up.
“That was just something I said in the heat of an argument. It doesn’t mean anything,” Zac replied, sounding confident.
“Mr. Smith, I’ve already done the math. If you use Voyager’s chips, you’ll save three to five thousand dors in production costs for every car you make. At the same time, the sale price could go up by tens of thousands. Add it all together, and your profits will rise significantly. I’m sure you don’t need me to spell it out for you.”
All he wanted in return was for the Smiths to take Liz back, so he could marry her in grand style.
Originally, his n for the wedding was simple–just register the marriage and host a small banquet for a few friends and rtives. That would have been enough.
But now, if she returned to the Smith family and married him as their heiress. That, in his mind, was more than enough to satisfy her.
After that, she would have no reason to make trouble.
Michael was quiet for a moment before saying, “I’I think about it.”
Zac’s lips curved into a faint smile. “Alright. I just hope you don’t take too long. Quite a few partners have already ced advance orders for the new chip. If you wait, Smith Corporation might not get a production slot until next year.
“Fine,” Michael said tly.
Once Michael left, Zac returned to hispany.
As soon as he stepped into his office, Chase followed him in. “Mr. Lincoln, Attorney Gray has been
hospitalized. We’ll need to rece him on Shannon Wilson’s case.”
Zac frowned. “Who is Shannon Wilson?”
“She’s the client Ms. Smith was representing in a divorce case. You told me to hire the best divorcewyer in Stanley City and take that case from her. The cooperatingwyer we hired was Mr. Gray.”
“Understood. Just find another divorcewyer to take over,” Zac said.
“Yes, Mr. Lincoln.”
When Chase left, Zac picked up his phone, debating whether to call Liz and tell her the Smiths would soon wee her back. But the memory of her icy attitude toward him yesterday kept him from swallowing his pride.
She would find out soon enough that he was the one working behind the scenes. Better to let here to him once she realized it.
He set the phone down and went back to his paperwork.
Meanwhile, Shannon took the day off to personally visit Liz’sw firm and terminate her contract.
When Hunter saw her, his expression hardened. “I honestly don’t understand why people with no sense of contractual responsibility bother hiringwyers. All you do is waste our time.”
