Erick quickly stepped forward and escorted Jericho and the others out.
Once the room fell quiet, Joaquin fixed his gaze on Romina.
She had barely spoken the entire time, focusing solely on treating Hayden with extremely professional technique.
The man leaned against the wall, quietly watching the scene. Apart from indifference, there was no oth- er expression on his face.
After Hayden’s condition eased, Romina crouched down and asked softly, “Grandpa, how are you feel- ing now? Is your breathing a bit easier?”
Hayden was much thinner than before, his cheeks noticeably sunken.
He managed a faint smile: “Much better…”
“Good, then get some rest.‘
Romina removed the needles from Hayden’s back one by one, then looked toward Lenora: “His condi- tion has stabilized. Next, he needs to recuperate properly. Give him more foods that promote blood cir- ction and remove stasis. I’ll make a list for youter, just have the auntie make soup for him.”
Lenora nodded quickly, her gaze at Romina now tinged with aplexity that hadn’t been there before: “Alright.”
Joaquin looked toward the butler: “Change Grandpa’s bedding.”
“Yes, Mr. Joaquin.”
Romina picked up the medical kit and walked toward the door. As she passed Joaquin, she nodded at him without saying a word.
When she reached the corridor, Jericho and the others were nowhere to be seen.
At that moment, a voice called from behind: “Ms. Sandoval.”
Romina paused for a moment when she heard the sound.
She quickly turned around and met the man’s captivating phoenix eyes.

She curled her lips into a faint smile: “What’s the matter, Mr. Bowman…”
“Don’t you need to stay for the night watch today?”

“Although the situation is urgent this time, it’s not as serious asst time. Things have basically stabi- lized, so there’s no need for a night watch. If anything unexpected happens, just have the butler call me right away.”
Romina’s lips curved slightly, her face full of gentle warmth.
Joaquin’s gaze fell on her, noticing that her clothes and hair were still damp.
He instinctively reached out and touched the ends of her hair: “You’re soaked. Go downstairs, take a shower, and change your clothes! And have something to eat before you leave.”
The sudden gesture made Romina’s heart inexplicably race.
She lowered her eyes to nce at her clothes, realizing they were indeed a bit wet…
After hesitating for a moment, she finally spoke: “Alright.”
At that moment, footsteps sounded behind them.
The man’s hand, which had been resting on her hair, instinctively moved away.
Romina also subconsciously stepped back a little, putting some distance between them.
Lenora’s voice came from behind: “You two haven’t gone down yet?”
Joaquin turned to look at Lenora behind him: “Lenora, have the auntie prepare dinner. Ms. Sandoval should eat before she leaves.”
Lenora had always been wary of Joaquin–or more precisely, of his power. Even though she was his el- der, she naturally showed him a certain degree of respect.
She nodded with a smile: “Alright.”
Romina gave a faint smile and then turned to go downstairs.
Nadine and the medical doctor had already left; only Jericho remained in the living room on the first floor, seemingly on the phone.
Romina stood by the second–floor railing, nced down briefly, then turned and entered the room she shared with Jericho to take a hot shower.

There was still some time before dinner, so she deliberately took a hot bath. When she came out, she felt much more rxed both physically and mentally.
After changing into a spare dress, she went to the balcony, gazing at the rain pouring outside, her mood inexplicably good.
“Click-”
The sound of a door opening suddenly came from the entrance.
Hearing the sound, Romina turned and saw Jericho walk in.
The two only exchanged a brief nce before Romina looked away, turning her gaze forward as if he didn’t exist.
Jericho approached her, his eyes scanning her up and down.
She was wearing a long white dress made of chiffon, which entuated her fresh and ethereal figure.
Romina used to be the striking type, always impably made up and dazzlingly beautiful.
But since returning from prison, she seemed to have lost interest in makeup. Her bare face was less mboyant, but instead possessed a more refined beauty.
Even her temperament had be much cooler.
“About what happened today, I misunderstood you…”
The man stood beside her, his tone somewhat cold and indifferent.
Although he was apologizing, there wasn’t the slightest hint of remorse in his voice.
Romina didn’t even turn her head, her gaze fixed forward: “There’s nothing to apologize for. In your eyes, my medical skills have always been unworthy. Your apology just makes me ufortable.”
