She quickly stood up from the sofa. “Since he’s already getting better, I’ll head back first. Tomorrow I’ll prepare the medicine and have Miguel bring it over. Just have the housekeeper put it in the fridge and boil it for him on schedule these next couple of days.”
Jericho nodded softly. “Alright.”
As soon as she left, Joaquin followed right after.
“Joaquin, are you leaving too?”
“Yes, take good care of the child.”
“Okay, take care, Joaquin.”
Jericho and Joaquin’s voices echoed from behind her.
When she stepped outside, the heavy rain had stopped, leaving only a few scattered raindrops falling from the sky.
Romina, holding a ck umbre, quickly made her way to the driver’s side.
Just as she was about to reach for the car door, a man’s slender, well–defined hand suddenly grabbed her
wrist.
Romina’s heart instantly leapt into her throat.
She instinctively nced toward the courtyard, relieved to see that the main gate was tightly closed.
“What did Ms. Sandoval mean just now? Were you deliberately trying to send me away?”
The man’s low, pressurized voice sounded in her ear, and Romina’s grip on the umbre handle tight- ened even more.
“Mr. Bowman, I was just worried that you might say something inappropriate in that situation and af- fect everyone’s rtionship.”
Romina tugged at her wrist, trying to free her hand from his grasp.
“Oh? Is that so?” The man’s grip on her wrist suddenly tightened, his tone casual. “So what exactly were you worried I might say? Why don’t you tell me in detail?”

“Mr. Bowman, I’m not joking with you.”
She lifted her bright eyes, looking at him with a serious expression.
“And what makes you think I sound like I’m joking?”
Romina was afraid he would treat her the way he had in the warehouse, and her heart gradually sank.
After all, there were security cameras at the entrance. Even though the angle might not catch them, if someone happened to see, it would still be inappropriate.
Joaquin leaned in close to her ear and whispered in a voice only the two of them could hear, “Are you afraid I’ll tell him that we’ve kissed and almost ended up in bed together?”
As soon as he said this, Romina’s eyshes fluttered uncontrobly.
Every time she got close to this man, she became easily nervous.
Because every word he said felt like a disco dance on her nerves.
That feeling was far from pleasant.
“It’s gettingte, Mr. Bowman. You should head home soon! Thank you foring to see Kash today.”
Romina summoned all her strength to break free from his grasp, then quickly opened the car door and got in without hesitation.
After closing the door, she immediately stepped on the gas and sped away.
From beginning to end, she never once looked back at him.
The man stood by the window the whole time, watching her leave.
By the time Joaquin got home, it was already nine o’clock.
He had just parked the car when Freya approached him. “Sir, Mr. Tucker is here. He’s in the living
room.”
Joaquin frowned slightly. Nasir wouldn’te to see him unless it was something important.
“Alright, go ahead and get back to your work.”
Joaquin strode quickly toward the living room.
Nasir was sitting on the sofa in the center of the living room, making tea for himself.

When he heard footsteps, he suddenly turned around.
When Nasir saw Joaquin, he couldn’t help but smile. “Even on a stormy night like this, you still have social engagements? You’re really something! Makes me feel ashamed inparison.”
“I went to Landwin Vi.” Joaquin sat down across from him and looked up at him. “It’s sote–did you need something?”
“Do you remember what happened to me at your family dinner?”
Joaquin replied softly, “Yes.”
Nasir poured him a cup of tea and handed it over. “I had someone look into it afterward. Guess what I found out?”
“Stop keeping me in suspense. Just tell me.”
Joaquin picked up the teacup on the table and drank it in one go.
“Apparently, Nadine instructed her best friend Valery to do it,” Nasir said in a much lower voice. “You might not know Valery, but you should know Nadine, right? She’s the woman always around Jericho…”
After hearing the truth, Joaquin’s expression suddenly darkened.
So Romina had really guessed it right.
“I just can’t figure it out. Why would she go after me behind my back? I don’t even know her, so why would she suddenly drug me?”
Nasir looked at her with a grave expression, his eyes full of confusion.
“It wasn’t just you who got drugged that day. There was something in Romina’s juice too.”
Joaquin mmed his cup down on the table, the sound especially loud.
