In the evening, Romina received a call from Jericho. Apparently, their child had a high fever that hadn’t improved after two days of medication, and he asked Romina toe over and help.
After all, it was her own child whom she had carried for ten months. She couldn’t bear to just sit by and do nothing.
A heavy rainstorm started in the evening, making it hard to get a taxi. Romina had no choice but to drive Joaquin’s car to Landwin Vi.
When she arrived at Landwin Vi, Romina parked the car at the entrance to avoid making Jericho sus- picious.
But she didn’t know that the man standing by the floor–to–ceiling window on the second floor had al- ready seen her get out of the driver’s seat.
She held a ck umbre and carried a medical kit as she walked into the rain.
After entering the house, she put away her umbre and strode toward the second floor.
At the spiral staircase, she saw a familiar figure.
Jericho frowned slightly, looking down at her from above. “Was that car a gift from your lover?”
Romina’s steps involuntarily paused for a moment.
She really hadn’t expected to be seen by him after all.
“You’re overthinking it.”
Romina’s reaction did not escape the man’s notice. Although she denied it, her brief pause still made the man in front of her misunderstand.
Romina walked up, and as she passed by him, the man’s expression grew even darker.
Jericho reached out and grabbed her wrist, the one holding the medical kit.
“The three million I gave you must have already been invested in the wellness clinic. With the clinic’s current scale, that must have cost at least two and a half million, right? That car is worth about one and a half million. And you still say it wasn’t a gift from a man?”

One and a half million?
Romina’s back instantly stiffened.
She didn’t know much about car prices and had thought it was only around eight hundred thousand.
But Joaquin had only charged her two hundred thousand.
And more importantly, she hadn’t even transferred that two hundred thousand yet.
“Think whatever you want. I’m going to check on the child first.”

“Looks like your new lover is quite wealthy! Even more generous than I am. No wonder you were so eager to divorce me.”
She had only taken two steps when Jericho’s voice suddenly came from behind.
Romina stopped at the sound, but she never looked back and continued walking toward the child’s
room.
He would investigate this sooner orter, and eventually, he would find out the truth.
There was no point in saying more.
She didn’t want to argue with him.
Seeing that Romina ignored him, Jericho’s expression grew even colder.
The heavy rain outside continued to pour down.
Romina ced the medical kit by the bed and checked the child’s pulse.
Jericho leaned against the door, staring at her back in silence.
The child was in a deep sleep, looking much more haggard.
“How is he?”
Jericho walked over, looking down at her, his voice low and heavy.
“It’s just an external fever, probably caused by the sudden change in weather these past few days.” Romina put the child’s hand back under the covers. “I happened to bring some herbal medicine, but I only have one dose. I’ll make it for him tonight, and tomorrow I’ll have Miguel bring more.”
Romina took the medicine out of the kit and handed it to him.

The man frowned at her. “Why are you giving this to me?”
“Why am I giving it to you?” Romina’s expression turned cold. “Of course, so you can take it down- stairs and have the auntie prepare it!”
“The auntie doesn’t know how to make this, and neither do I.” Jericho pushed the medicine back to her. “You should make it for the child yourself. It’s pouring outside, so you can’t leave for now anyway. If necessary, just stay here tonight. He’s your son too, and it’s your responsibility to take care of him.”
Romina’s hand paused slightly.
She wanted to argue, but what he said made sense. She had no reason to refuse.
Romina took the herbal medicine and went straight to the kitchen. After sending the auntie away, she prepared the medicine for the child by herself.
Halfway through, footsteps suddenly sounded outside the door.
She nced back and saw that Jericho was already standing at the kitchen door, though she didn’t know when he had arrived.
“Are you really not going to give me an exnation?”
The man’s voice was extremely low,ing from behind her.
Romina turned at the sound, looking at him coldly. “Exin what?”
Jericho quickly approached, his whole body radiating a terrifying chill. “Who is that man, really?”
