chapter32
Romina looked away and turned to Hayden beside him:
“Grandpa, I don’t need anyone to take care of me. I can just sleep
in the guest room.”
With that, she staggered to her feet, intending to head upstairs.
“Jericho, hurry and follow her.”
As soon as Hayden finished speaking, his gaze fell on Jericho.
Jericho hesitated for a moment, but in the end couldn’t refuse
Hayden and got up to follow.
Behind them, a long, narrow gaze was following the direction
in which they left.
“Joaquin, did you bring a driver tonight?”
The man withdrew his gaze and looked at his father beside him.
Joaquin let out a low, hoarseugh: “You keep your grandson
and granddaughter-inw here, but you’re kicking me out?”
“That’s not what I mean, you know that.” Hayden suddenly
leaned in, lowering nis voice:
Jericho’s. The couple hasn’t seen each other for so long, it’s
inevitable that…”
He left the rest unsaid.
Joaquin, always clever, could hardly fail to understand what
his father meant.
The man curled his lips, responding with a half-smile: “This fire of yours might not catch.”
Hayden didn’t quite understand what he meant, and when he looked up, Joaquin was already striding toward the second
floor.
When Joaquin reached the second floor, he saw Jericho locked
out of the room.
Jericho was knocking on the door: “Romina, open the door right
now!”
As Joaquin passed by, Jericho nced back at him.
Seeing the man behind him, he was momentarily stunned:
“Joaquin? Are you staying at the Bowman’s mansion tonight
too?”
“Yes.”
Joaquin gave him an indifferent look, then strode toward the
study.
Behind him, Jericho’s knocking continued.
“Romina, open the door.”
As Jericho passed by the nearby guest rooms, he saw that all
the doors were locked.
The man couldn’t help but let out a coldugh.
Hayden really went to great lengths to bring the two of them
together!
Unfortunately…
The man is indifferent, and the woman is unwilling.
How could this fire ever be lit?
At this moment, inside the room.
Romina, drunk, leaned against the balcony, while urgent
knocking sounded at her ear.
But she acted as if she hadn’t heard, continuing to admire the
night outside.
During dinner, she had tied up her hair with a rubber band, and
now her neck felt a bit chilly.
She intended to take her hair down, but perhaps pulled too
hard, and the rubber band in her hand had already snapped
onto the neighboring balcony.
Romina’s brows furrowed instantly.
Her gaze passed over the transparent ss railing and saw the
rubber band on the next balcony.
She hesitated for a moment, but in the end, lifted her foot and
climbed up without hesitation…
The ss railing was not very high; just a single pane of ss
separated the balconies of the two rooms.
She climbed over it with ease.
As she bent down to pick up the rubber band on the floor, her
head felt increasingly heavy, and a wave of drowsiness washed
over her.
The room next door had always been empty.
Up until now, Romina still had no idea whose room it actually
was.
Her head throbbed with pain.
She couldn’t care about anything else anymore, staggering
toward therge bed in the room and copsing onto it.
At that moment, a phone rang outside the door.
And then came the man’s deep voice: “Nadine, were you
looking for me?”
She had no idea what the woman on the other end had said to
him.
After Jericho gentlyforted her for a few moments, he said
softly, “Wait for me there, I’ll be right over.”
Romina heard the man hurriedly leave.
Soon, the sound of an engine came from downstairs.
She no longer cared about him, closed her eyes, and quickly fell
into a deep sleep.
Half an hourter.
As Joaquin was about to return to his room, he ran into
Jericho’s mother, Lenora, in the corridor.
“Joaquin, you came back today as well?”
As Lenora stepped onto the stairs, she looked at the man’s back
with a beaming smile.
“Mm.”
Joaquin greeted her politely, then immediately opened the door
to his room.
The lighting inside was dim, but he immediately noticed the
figure lying on the bed.
“Bang-”
In an instant, he closed the door.
At that moment, Lenora was just about to pass behind him.
His sudden action left Lenora somewhat baffled.
She frowned and stared at him: “What’s wrong? Joaquin…”
Joaquin nced back at her, quickly changing the subject:
“Lenora, why weren’t you home tonight?”
Lenora was momentarily taken aback.
Joaquin held great authority in the Bowman family, second
only to Hayden. Even Lenora was always polite to him
whenever they met, and it was rare for him to take the
initiative to ask about her whereabouts.
