Sad Tears 28

    chapter28

Jericho and Romina turned around almost simultaneously

    when they heard the footsteps.

When they saw Joaquin appear at the door, Jericho’s face

showed an expression of disbelief. “Joaquin, what are you doing

    here?”

Joaquin lifted his eyelids and nced at Jericho.

His gaze instinctively swept toward Romina.

Seeing her hesitant expression, he could more or less guess

    what was going on.

He looked up, his tone indifferent: “Ms. Sandoval was involved

in an incident at the orphanage I sponsor. I’m here on behalf of

    the institution to discharge her.””

As his words fell, the anxiety in Romina’s heart finally eased.

    This man was truly clever.

His reaction speed was also remarkable.

If, at this moment, it was said that she had asked him toe, given Jericho and Romina’s situation, there would surely be

    misunderstandings.

“So that’s how it is?” Jericho asked thoughtfully. “Was the person Joaquin brought fruit to visit a few days ago also her?”

    “Yes!”

Joaquin walked around them, went to the bedside, picked up

the hospitalization form, and then turned back.

Jericho was left somewhat stunned by this series of actions.

Hadn’t he said that day he was just visiting a friend?

    “Joaquin…”

Jericho intended to take Romina’s discharge form to handle the

procedures, but was interrupted by Jericho’s voice beside him.

The man turned at the sound: “What’s wrong?”

“Give it to me!” Jericho reached out and took the form from

Joaquin’s hand. “I’ll handle it for her, no need to trouble you.”

Before the man could respond, Jericho had already walked out

Now, only Romina and Joaquin were left.

“Mr. Bowman, my friend was supposed to discharge me, but she

had something to do this morning and hasn’t returned, so I

called you,” Romina said in a lowered voice. “Besides, I didn’t

    know he woulde…”

Joaquin looked down at her, his ink-ck eyes reflecting the

    woman’s delicate face.

She was wearing a white chiffon dress.

The hem reached her ankles, where there were traces of burns.

“It’s fine, it’s not surprising that he came,” the man said calmly.

“Even though you mentioned divorce, Sir Bowman is a tough

hurdle to pass. I suppose he forced Jericho toe.”

As his voice faded, Romina nodded gently. “It was indeed

    Grandpa who sent him.”

But the words ‘Sir Bowman is a tough hurdle to pass’ had

already left a deep mark in her heart.

Hayden held great authority in the Bowman family; except for

the man before her, no one dared to go against him.

And Hayden doted most on this youngest son.

So Joaquin’s status in the Bowman family was second only to

    Hayden.

“Did you not apply any medicine to your ankle?”

Joaquin’s voice was deep as his gaze dropped.

Romina’s thoughts were interrupted by his low and pleasant

    voice.

She instinctively lowered her eyes. “It’s not very serious, so I

didn’t ask the doctor to treat it.”

Mainly, she wasn’t used to conventional medicine; she usually

relied on herbal remedies. She nned to apply some herbs

As she looked down, she examined the wound carefully. Her

heel was slightly raised, and the burned skin fell into the man’s

    line of sight.

Perhaps because she lifted one foot, her bnce was unstable.

Romina tried to steady herself, but it was already toote.

Joaquin reached out and firmly grasped her elbow.

The cold ring on his index finger touched her skin, making her

    instinctively pause.

She quickly lifted her gaze and looked at the man’s features.

Joaquin happened to lower his eyes, and their gazes met.

Romina’s heart inexplicably began to race.

That feeling was hard to describe.

Joaquin looked at her, the corners of his lips carrying a faint,

    elusive smile.

His voice remained low: “Be careful.”

Romina was about to respond when the sound of approaching

footsteps at the door interrupted her.

    “Romina, you can leave…”

Upon hearing this, Romina tried to pull away from Joaquin’s

hand, but it was already toote.

She lifted her gaze and met Jericho’s eyes as he entered the

    room.

This ambiguous scene had already been witnessed by him.

    “What are you two doing?”

Seeing this, Jericho’s brows furrowed uncontrobly, his words.

    tinged with anger and surprise.

Joaquin released Romina, his tone indifferent: “Ms. Sandoval

just lost her bnce, so I helped her. Since you’ve finished the

    procedures, take her home.”

With that, the man quickly turned and strode toward the door.

Only after his footsteps faded did Jericho turn his attention to

    Romina.

Romina nced at the form in his hand, walked straight up,

    and said, “Thanks.”

She snatched the discharge papers from his hand and walked

toward the door without looking back.
