Chapter 289: Can’t Restrain Himself Anymore

Chapter 289: Can’t Restrain Himself Anymore

    (Author’s POV)

After Myra’s confession, there was only stunned silence left between the two. Myra’s shoulders quivered as she recollected that traumatic experience from a year ago. She was getting goosebumps all over her.

After a brief moment, she calmed down a little and said, her voice low and dejected, "I shunned my childhood friend and her family outpletely by fleeing away from their reach. I killed someone with my own hands. I never told my parents and sister about the fallout with Nora and about what happened to me during that time. I lied to them continuously. I am a horrible person, Fabian. I am a murderer. And a selfish person. Not a good daughter, or a sister, or even a friend. I am not a good person." She expressed her true feelings, which were buried deep inside her.

Fabian couldn’t help himself any longer and came closer to her. He gave her a reassuring, forting hug as he said, his voice held a soft and gentle mellow, "You are not selfish, Myra. You have never been. And even if you are called selfish because of all that you told me, then what’s wrong with that? Whatever you did at that time, it is not called fleeing. You only wanted to survive, and you wanted your family to be safe, correct? That requires a lot of courage and fortitude. In my eyes, this is not selfishness. And~ .... You are not a murderer, Myra. Don’t you dare call yourself that. You are someone brave and unblenching. You were saving yourself from harm. Only an undaunting person is able to do that. And~ ... in the dictionary, your act is called self defence and not murder."

He patted her back soothingly with each word he enunciated, providing sce to her. He then pulled away from her and gazed into her hazel eyes with his clear, amber shaded ones, his hands firmly holding both her shoulders, "It has been a year since we became friends, and I have never felt that you are self centered or a bad person. The Myra I know is fearless, valiant, far away from being a malefactor or a reprobate. You are a warrior." His voice filled with seriousness, and so what his eyes.

Myra couldn’t help but chuckle a little at his choice of words, "You make it sound like I am some general of an army or an empress."

"To me, you are everything," the words came out before he even realized, catching both Myra as well as himself off guard. The atmosphere turned awkward, just likest night, and Myra abruptly pulled herself away and got up from the couch. "Can I use the bathroom?"

"Su~ .... Sure," Fabian said while fumbling with his words. He pointed towards the door and said, "It’s that way."

Myra scurried towards the pointed door, her face all red.

As soon as the door closed, Fabian covered his face with his hands, his ears were beetroot red. ’What are you doing, Fabian?" He smacked his lips and muttered, "It’s getting harder and harder to restrain myself." Then his gaze shifted to the bathroom door, as he recollected Myra’s words, ’Everests rivals, huhhh? It has to be a doing of a human. They can’t be werewolves. If they were, Myra wouldn’t have been able to escape and survive, forget about killing them.’ He thought as he reminisced about the brutal and merciless death of his mother and father. ’Even they were not able to run away." He clenched his hand, his nails digging into his palm. ’But I need to investigate and get to the bottom of this. Whoever dared to kidnap Myra, I will finish them.’

He went out to the balcony and made a call. The other side picked up after just a single ring as Fabian stated, his voice firm andmanding, "Meet me in my office in an hour. I have an urgent task for you."

"Yes, young master," Gunnar’s clear, gravelly voice resonated as Fabian disconnected the call.

Myra walked out of the bathroom looking much better.

Fabian had been nervous before, searching for her and rescuing her. So, he didn’t notice at that time, but now that he nced at Myra from top to bottom, she looked changed. She looked different, refreshing, bold, and even more alluring, more beautiful.

His sudden, intense gaze made Myra ufortable. She asked, "Wh~ at .... What are you looking at?"

"Why are you so nervous all of a sudden around me?" Fabian approached her, his steps deliberate and absolute. Myra backed away as her eyes trembled, "Fabian, why are you behaving like this?"

He didn’t reply, but didn’t halt his steps either. Trapping Myra between the back wall and himself, he lifted her chin to raise her head and stared at her. His desire was evident in his gaze. He was on the verge of losing control.

Myra was about to push him away, but before that could happen, he burst outughing, holding his stomach, "Haahhahahhaahha~ ..... caught you." She was bewildered by his reaction, her brows knitted together in confusion, her mouth wide open.

"Hahahaha~ ..... Myra, you look so damn funny when you make that face. It’s hrious. Hehh~ ... Don’t worry, I was just trying to pull your leg, rx. As for my gaze~ ..." he once again looked at her from head to toe andmented, "You changed your appearance. You look stunning in this dress, and the hairstyle suits you." He addressed her with his normal friendly smile.

Myra bit her lips in embarrassment as she said, "Aren’t you being too goofy these days? Taking lessons from Yelena or something, huhh?" She puffed up her cheeks, feigning annoyance.

"I was just trying to lighten your mood. And I guess, it worked. By the way~ ... I noticed~ .... You are wearing the perfume I gave," hemented.

Myra rubbed her nose and replied, "Yeah, I did. It smells really nice."

"Keep wearing it. Ummm~ .... What I mean is ...... use it more often. It resonates with you," he added in rification.

When he and Myra were hugging each other, he traced an unusual scenting from her. Now, he understood why Brave couldn’t recognize Myra even if they were standing so close. The perfume that he gifted was mixed with a certain type of herb, which concealed her original scentpletely. Otherwise, with Brave’s heightened senses, it would have been easy to know Myra’s identity. ’I guess god is on my side this time.’

Myra nodded and said, "I need to go back to the venue now. Yelena and Wendy must be waiting for me."

"Why? I know you aren’tfortable with the Everests’ brother’s presence. You don’t push yourself. I will call them out, and then I will drive you all to your house," Fabian suggested.

But Myra declined, "It is okay. I will manage somehow. And there is Prof. Mitchell, who had invited me, so I can’t just ditch him and go home. The room is vast, full of people. I will not be seen as I have already greeted CFO Brave." She was confident and back to being her old self. The sudden burst of emotions, the confession, made her feel light. She didn’t want topromise on new experiences because of past traumas and people.

Fabian was a bit conflicted. So, he, in the end, gave her a suggestion, "Then, I will apany you three and make sure there is no more mishap. And~ ...... I am not going to take no for an answer. Got it." His voiceced with finality.

"But~ ... You have to attend to other guests. I probably can’t ruin your social interactions. That’s not fair," Myra was reluctant.

"Chairman Larson is the host, and I am just a mere manager for this event. So, my duty has been done. You don’t need to worry," he insisted. "Now, shall we?" He extended his arm towards her.

Myra moistened her lips and nced at his arm, but in the end, she held it and walked out, returning back to the seminar venue.
