Chapter 462 A Responsibility That Cannot Be Avoided

The hot tear hit the back of Winston’s hand.

    He instinctively closed his eyes.

    “To be honest…”

His <b>eyes </b>were still lowered. He was pretending to beposed, not wanting anyone to see him looking this vulnerable.

    But his lips were trembling.

“It’s really hard for me to trust people… And just because you said all that… does that mean I have to believe you?”

A hint of coldness flickered through his eyes.

    “Dominic never lies<b>.</b><b>” </b>

Before Dominic could respond, Jean blurted it out.

She looked at Winston with a helpless expression.

“He’s reliable. That, I know for sure.”

Jean’s lips curled slightly, her tone firm and certain, as if she were vouching with everything she had.

Her words lightened the tension in the air, which had been heavy and still just moments before.

Winston took the opportunity to wipe away the lingering tears from his eyes. His fingers clenched instinctively, his whole body caught in a strange mix of tension and inexplicable excitement.

His heart was beating wildly for no reason.

It was such a strange sensation.

For Winston, it was the first time-

The first time someone had said so many warm things to him.

He licked his lips. Those warm words still echoed in his ears.

“Believe it or not,” Dominic finally spoke again. His voice was low, and his gaze carried a deep weight.

“You can trying home. Spend more time with everyone. See for yourself what kind of person I am. Whether or not I’d ever lie to you. You’ve got nothing to lose anyway, right?”

    Winston’s grip tightened further.

His throat was beginning to close

Just as he parted his lips, about to lift his head and respond-

A sudden sob broke through the air.

Chapter 462 A Responsibility That Cannot Be Avoided

Jean’s eyes widened in shock. Panic flickered in her gaze<b>. </b>

    Oh shit<i>! </i>

    Dominic froze.

    Winston stiffened.

Both of them turned their heads at the same time, staring directly at Jean.

That sob quickly morphed into scattered crying.

Jean pressed her lips together awkwardly and reached into her pocket-

    <i>The </i><i>sound </i><i>is </i><iing </i><i>from </i>my <i>pocket</i>.

    And <i>the </i><i>reason </i>why<i>… </i>

Jean lowered her gaze, looking guilty.

    <i>My </i><i>phone </i>is <i>on </i><i>a </i><i>call</i><i>. </i>

    <i>On </i><i>the </i><i>other </i><i>end </i><i>of </i><i>the </i><i>line </i>is <i>Sienna</i>.

    <i>Before </i>we <i>entered </i><i>the </i><i>apartment</i><i>, </i><i>I </i><i>had </i><i>sent </i><i>her </i><i>a </i><i>message</i><i>, </i><i>telling </i><i>her </i><i>I </i><i>would </i><i>call </i><i>in </i><i>a </i><b><i>moment</i></b>.

    All <i>Sienna </i><i>had </i><i>to </i><i>do </i><i>was </i><i>listen </i><i>silently</i><i>. </i><i>Say </i><i>nothing</i>. <b><i>Just </i></b><i>quietly </i><i>take </i>it <i>all </i><i>in</i>.

    Because I <i>want </i><i>her </i>to <i>hear- </i>

    <i>Winston’s </i><i>true </i><i>thoughts</i>. <i>His </i><i>regrets</i><i>. </i><i>The </i><i>truths buried </i><i>in </i><i>the </i><i>past</i>.

    <i>Dominic </i><i>night </i><i>have </i><i>been </i><i>Winston’s </i><i>deepest </i><i>knot</i>, <i>but </i><i>Sienna </i><i>also </i><i>carried </i><i>a </i><i>responsibility </i><i>she </i><i>couldn’t </i><b><i>avoid</i></b>.

    <i>It </i><i>might </i><i>be </i><i>heavy</i>, <i>but </i><i>she </i>needs to know.

    <i>To </i><i>make </i><i>sure </i><i>Sienna </i><i>could </i><i>hear </i><i>everything </i><i>clearly</i><i>, </i><i>Thad </i><i>turned </i><i>on </i><i>the </i><i>speaker </i><i>and </i><i>raised </i><i>the </i><i>volume </i><i>to </i><i>the </i><i>max- </i>

    <i>Which </i><i>now </i><i>meant </i><i>that </i><i>Sienna’s </i><i>crying </i><i>was </i><i>loud </i><i>and </i><i>unmistakably </i><i>clear </i><i>in </i><i>the </i><i>room</i>.

Dominic and Winston had been looking at Jean in confusion, unsure what was happening. But after hearing that crying and putting together what they had heard from her mind, they finally understood.

“Ha… ha…” Jean gave a few awkward chuckles, quickly pulling her phone out of her pocket.

    The crying continued.

Jean held the phone up and said with augh–crying tone,

“Mom, didn’t we agree no sound? You’re making me look bad here-”
