Chapter 413 I Was Just Passing By
Jean and Sienna didn’t dare waste any time—they quickly nodded and stepped out of <b>the </b><b>emergency </b>room
Dominic noticed Sienna’s reddened eyes, the faint shimmer of tears still clinging to hershes<b>. </b><b>His </b>brows furrowed and he lowered his voice. “Are you okay?”
Sienna wiped the corners of her eyes with her hand, then shook her head and forced a smile. <b>“</b><b>It’s </b><b>nothing </b>I was just talking to Samuel a moment ago, and I couldn’t help tearing up…”
“This child… he’s had it rough.” Her eyes lowered, filled withplicated sorrow.
Dominic couldn’t help but reassure her. “I’ll make sure to be there for him more from now <b>on</b><b>. </b>
Suddenly-
Hurried footsteps echoed from the other end of the corridor.
They grew louder, clearer. Jean instinctively turned around–and caught sight of <i>a </i>farmiliar figure she could hardly believe.
“Winston? What are you doing here?”
Her eyes lit up in surprise, and her voice lifted a few notches.
. Both Dominic and Sienna followed her gaze-
Winston strolled toward them with his usual cold, distant look, lips pressed together.
Jean smiled and walked up to him, giving his arm a quick pat, “Why didn’t you tell us you wereing? <b>You </b>just showed up out of nowhere.”
Winston shot her a sidelong nce, his tone quiet,/ “There was nothing to say… I was just passing by. Yeah.”
Jean’s smile deepened.
Still the same proud little brat.
<b><i>Just </i></b><i>passing </i><i>by</i>? I <i>don’t </i><i>buy </i><i>it</i><i>. </i><i>You </i><i>definitely </i><i>came </i><i>here </i><i>on </i><i>purpose</i>.
Winston, of course, heard her unspoken thoughts.
His eyes opened a little wider, and his expression froze for a second.
Then, irritated, he pressed his lips together.
Seriously, what goes on in that head of hers…
But she wasn’t wrong.
After hearing from Jean about what happened to Samuel, Winston had debated whether <b>he </b><b>should </b><be </b><b>in </b>
person.
In the past, he never would’ve cared–about something like this.
But maybe Jean had rubbed off on him a little. For once, he’d felt a <b>rare </b><b>twinge </b><b>of </b><b>sympathy</b>.

Not hearing any updates on Samuel had been eating at him, so in the end, <b>he’d </b><b>caved </b><b>and </b></dive to <b>the </b>hospital himself.
“Winston, how did you know?” Sienna raised her brows in surprise and quickly <b>stepped </b>forward. I wasn’t nning on bothering you kids with this.”
“I told him, Mom.” Before Winston could answer, Jean jumped in. “<b>It’s </b>fine, right?”
Sienna shook her head. “Of course it’s fine, I just-”
She turned to Winston, her gaze quickly filling with helpless worry. “It’s just that you being <b>here </b>won’t change anything. Your brother’s still not well.”
“I know,” Winston replied crisply. “That’s why I’m here to see him.”
As he spoke, he instinctively looked up–and was caught off guard by Dominic’s calmn<b>, </b>steady stare<b>. </b>
Winston’s eyes narrowed slightly.
Then, without hesitation, he looked away, deliberately avoiding that irritating <b>gaze</b>.
Jean noticed the little gesture.
Ah<i>… </i>so he still <i>hasn’t </i><i>let </i><i>it </i><i>go</i><i>. </i>
She couldn’t help but shake her head with a sigh.
Just then-
The doors to the emergency room swung open, and a doctor stepped out briskly.
Sienna’s eyes lit up with hope, and she rushed forward. “Doctor, how is he? Is Samuel okay?”
