Chapter 156 Assist Vivian

“Hmm, it looks like you are no longer sleepy. Fine, I’ll take you out to get milk tea and barbecue. Afterward, can we have anotherte night together?”

By the time Renee realized what she had walked into, it was toote. A rosy blush appeared on her cheeks, and she blinked rapidly to cover up her embarrassment.

“You wish,” she muttered as she looked away from him.

A bunch of young yboys had approached in hopes of currying favor with Marcelo, and they just happened to overhear the conversation between him and Renee.

    They stopped short in shock.

Was this really the noble Mr. King discussing fried chicken and barbecue with Renee? And Renee, too, had she really just put on a sullen act to get her way? Wasn’t she always so elegant and demure?

    What the hell?

Worse yet, they seemed to be discussing something else, something intimate that was meant to ur behind closed doors. And Renee had basically refused Marcelo.

What was really going on with these two?

As far as everyone else was concerned, Marcelo and Renee came from two different worlds.

Yet, after what they had just seen, they couldn’t deny that the two made a perfect match. There was a vibe between them, an unseen barrier that closed them off from the rest of the world.

“Aren’t you bored just sitting there, Miss Hudson? Why don’t you y cards with us?” Vivian, who had been gone for ten minutes, reappeared afterposing herself. “You wouldn’t mind, right, Marcelo?” she added, turning to smile at him.

After acknowledging Marcelo’s marriage to Renee, she deemed this polite inquiry necessary.

Marcelo tilted his head toward Renee, silently telling them that the decisiony with her.

    Renee’s eyes locked with Vivian’s.

One gaze was calm and gentle, while the other was friendly and eager. Only the two women themselves knew that separate storms were brewing underneath the surface.

Renee stood up and said, “Sure thing.”

She was not bored, of course, but she wanted to see what sort of tricks Vivian was going to y.

Half an hour had passed.Renee’s pile of chips had grown significantly, overshadowing Vivian’s dwindling stack. In their most recent game, Renee had won arge number of chips from her.

“Miss Hudson, you’re really skilled at cards,” Vivian remarked with a sigh. “I’m almo

    hips.”

Her words seemed to act as a cue. Suddenly, a voice rang out across the room.

“Mr. King,e and help Vivian with her cards! It’s her first game sinceing home, and she’s losing terribly. That’s not a good look!”

Renee nced towards the source of the voice, her frown deepening as she fought to hide the chill in her gaze.

    Cuptor that Assist Vivian

    It was Alma

Meanwhile,Marcelo was lounging on a sofa, surrounded by group of young men.

He was more of a listener than a talker, his demeanor cool as he heard them out.

Ever since his role as CEO of the KM Group became known, those who once ttered Andrew had shifted their attention to him. At the sound of Alma’s voice, Marcelo turried. He noticed the frustrated expression on Vivian’s face. Yet, she managed a smile and teased, “Marcelo, did youe to wee me back, or to team up with someone to pick on me?”

Marcelo’s eyes then shifted to Renee. The right side of her table was piled high with chips. Her knack for dice games had evidently tranted well into card skills.

Marcelo, acknowledging the young men around him, wheeled himself over to Vivian.

“Let’s y this way,” he suggested, starting to instruct Vivian in the game. He wasn’t particrly fond of card games, but ying against Renee sparked interest in him.

He could have some fun with his wife.

This shift caught the attention of the others, who couldn’t help butment.

“Look at Mr. King, teaming up with Vivian to take on Renee” one said.

Another chimed in, “Well, it’s Vivian who called him over. If you could do that, maybe he’d help you too!”

    “Right,but we’re not in Vivian’s league,”ughed another.

Theirughter echoed around the room, and the underlying message was clear.

They were suggesting that Marcelo held a special preference and affection for Vivian.

Renee, who had arrived at the party with Marcelo, now seemed sidelined as he sat with another woman. This scene made her appear almost like the butt of a joke.

Vivian, hearing their remarks, didn’t object. She simply smiled at Renee across the table, her look almost a silent

    taunt.

Alyssa, standing behind her fiancé at the card table, reminded Renee gently with a smile, “Miss Hudson, it’s your turn.”

Although Alyssa felt no real attachment to her fiancé, Marcelo was aware of her feelings for him and rejected her countlessly, leading her father to find a partner for his daughter.

Renee nced at Marcelo. He sat beside Vivian with a rxed posture, his eyes casually scanning the cards as if making calctions.

Was he seriously going to assist Vivian against her?

He was going to try and win against her then he and Vivian would celebrate?

    Renee scoffed.

He really knows how to make her upset!
