Chapter 91 All he sees

Staring at Marcelo out of the corner of her eye, Catherine had to admit in her heart that if he wasn’t crippled, he would have easily outshone Andrew.

And she would have done everything to get him.But him being crippled was a major turn off for her.

The people around the table began to urge Renee to raise a toast, putting her in a dilemma.

Renee cast a helpless nce at Marcelo. Seeing that he didn’t say anything when people were forcing her to drink, she asked in a low voice.

“Do you really want me to drink?”

Confusion swept through the group as they exchanged puzzled nces.

What did Renee’s cryptic statement imply? Hadn’t Marcelo been the one requesting her to have a drink?

The only person who seemed to grasp Renee’s true intent was Catherine.

In reality, Renee was challenging Marcelo, and the stakes were high. If she refused to drink now, it would publicly humiliate Marcelo.

No man could bear to lose face. Could it be that Renee had been spoiled by Marcelo to such an extent? No way. Renee, her voice quivering and her eyes aze with stubbornness, contemted the situation.

Marcelo hesitated for a moment, almost willing to let it go.

But when he recalled their private conversation, he maintained hisposure and continued to observe Renee, a sense of indifference in his gaze.

This scenario mirrored their past encounter at the Dove Ind Club, filled with equal parts self–mockery andpromise. Eventually, Renee reluctantly acquiesced with a faint smile.

“Very well, I’ll have a drink.”

She reached for the ss before her without making eye contact with Marcelo and was about to drain it.

Simultaneously, Marcelo abruptly grabbed her ss and emptied its contents into his own mouth.

Renee stared at him in astonishment.

He had…seized her ss and consumed the drink himself?

“Oh, my goodness!” Amid the eerie silence, someone couldn’t suppress a gasp and swiftly covered their mouth.

Marcelo regarded Renee coldly, his icy eyes harboring a restrained anger.

It seemed to imply that she had made a grave mistake.

Renee felt deeply wronged. After all, it was Marcelo who had insisted she take the drink.

Prompted by the stubbornness in her eyes, Marcelo swiftly abandoned his seat after saying, “Enjoy yourselves.”

“Are you all right, Renee?” someone inquired, concerned.

I’m fine,” Renee replied with a faint smile, though her heart ached. “Please enjoy yourselves; I must be on my way. I apologize.”

Joseph readily nodded in understanding, permitting Renee to leave.

Being closest to Marcelo, Joseph couldn’t help but notice the possessiveness in Marcelo’s eyes directed at Renee.

From a man’s perspective, Marcelo’s actions weren’t difficult toprehend. If he genuinely had feelings for Renee,it was only natural for him to be reluctant to see her consume such a potent alcoholic drink.

However, this raised the question. If Marcelo didn’t want Renee to drink, why did he initially make things challenging for her?

As soon as Renee left, the atmosphere at the table grew lively.

“Damn! There was no room for a third person in the chemistry between Renee and Mr. King.”

“Renee has an incredible mental fortitude. Mr. King’s presence makes even a forty–year–old like me feel weak in the knees,”

“It seems Renee and Mr. King are acquainted. But when Mr. King arrived this afternoon, I heard Renee introduce herself to him.”

“Could Renee have offended Mr. King?”

Renee searched for Marcelo after leaving the private room but couldn’t find him.

To her surprise, he had swiftly moved his wheelchair.

After a fruitless search, Renee headed to his presidential suite and knocked on the door, but received no response.

She sighed and waited at the door.

Weary from her high heels, she crouched, clutching her knees.

Marcelo’s wheelchair glided silently across the carpet, and Renee remained unaware of his approach.

Marcelo studied the woman before him, squatting and hugging herself, for a full minute.

    “Hey.”

Startled by his sudden voice, Renee lost her bnce and sat on the floor, still dazed.

She looked up at him, who was in the wheelchair.

Marcelo allowed her a moment to speak, but Renee remained silent. His anger, suppressed briefly by alcohol,

    resurfaced.

“What are you doing here?“He sneered.

Renee spoke truthfully. “I was looking for you.”

Marcelo’s anger red, and he bent down, forcibly pinching Renee’s chin to meet his gaze.

“Renee, I told you because, you treat me as if I am not important to you. It’s not fair.”

    “No…I…”

“Then what is it?” His anger didn’t abate, but increased. “Did youe to suggest that I should keep another woman?”

    “I didn’t!” Renee protested, feeling unjustly used. “I didn’t say that. I…”

Then, she remembered her earlierment during the day

*Well…Rich men like you always have many women at that beck and call*

Did he misunderstand her because of that remark?

    But it was true.

Among the men in this circle, eight out of ten maintained such rtionships.

“You what?” Marcelo’s patience was wearing thin. “Spit it out.”

Gathering her courage, Renee finally locked eyes with Marcelo.

“Joseph specifically asked me to change into more appropriate attire to entertain you tonight. As you’ve

witnessed, he practically wanted to adorn me with a bow and present me to you. Marcelo, we both understand that you might encounter many such women in the future.”

The world was brimming with temptation.

    “So?”

“So, I don’t want to start haggling with you right from the beginning when I know I can’t win. It’s crucial for me to set my mindset and position straight from the outset, “Renee rified.

As long as she didn’t cross certain boundaries, she knew where she needed to stand.

She would only be frustrated if she aspired for more.

Luke, startled by the tension, interjected, “Mr. King, Mrs. King, perhaps you should continue this conversation in your room.”

Then Luke opened the room with the key card for Renee.

The moment Marcelo’s wheelchair rolled through the door, he stood up and pressed Renee against it.

The intensity of his anger was palpable, his eyes aze.

It was the first time Renee had seen him this furious since their marriage.

Usually, when he was angry, there was an eerie silence, as if he locked someone in a cold, dark room to reflect.

But now it was apletely different situation.

Marcelo was furious that she thought he could be with other women when she was practically all he sees!
