Chapter 67 To fall in love
“Don’t you want to take a shower?“Marcelo asked after they had both calmed down.
His demeanor was unusually patient and calm, a contrast to his usual temperament. He idly yed with Renee’s hair, which was naturally sleek and undyed, unlike the heavily styled hair of other socialite women.
Renee blinked, acknowledging her need for a shower, but felt too exhausted to move. She just wanted to sleep.
Marcelo could only see the back of her head, but he seemed to be able to see through her mind. He got out of bed and walked around to her side.
He nced down at the woman who was sulking and asked. “Would you like to take a shower?” His appearance was impable, less aloof than usual, but still carrying an air of abstinence.
Renee, after a brief nce, extended her arms towards him her throat aching and unwilling to speak.
The idea of a shower without having to walk was appealing
Though she initiated the embrace, she pretended to be reluctant.
Marcelo noticed her reaction but kept his amusement hidden. “You seem hesitant.”
Renee, surprised by hisment, stared wide–eyed.
She had already reached out her hands. How could she be unwilling to do that?!
She was starting to lose her temper. Before she could react further, Marcelo picked her up.
“You’re really delicate,” he whispered.
She red at him, her eyes full of reproach.
Delicate?
In her mind, it was Marcelo’s intense lovemaking that made her feel fragile, not her own constitution.
He seemed to only know how to utter unpleasant remarks.
Upon entering the bathroom, Renee immediately turned away and pushed him out.
Awakening to a newfound sense of independence, she was too shy to let him bathe her.
Her main concern was ack of trust.
She did not want to engage in any more intimate activities, especially in the bathroom.
After her shower, Renee noticed the bed sheets had been changed.
The color remained the same, but all previous traces were gone.
Marcelo had taken a shower in the adjacent bathroom and was now on the balcony, smoking in his bathrobe.
Shey in bed, feeling exhausted but unable to sleep.
Marcelo didn’t return to his room until the scent of smoke had faded. Noticing Renee ying on her phone, he inquired, “Are you not feeling sleepy?”
Startled, Renee looked at him warily.
Marcelo, observing her reaction, couldn’t help butugh, finding her demeanor quite endearing.

“I’ll be asleep soon,” She replied, her voice hoarser than before.
He frowned.
Casually ncing around, he noticed the words “find awyer” on Renee’s phone screen.
“You’re looking for awyer?” he asked.
Renee nodded in confirmation.
“Call Luke tomorrow. He’ll assist you in finding awyer, “Marcelo suggested, taking the phone from her hands and cing it on the bedside table. His tone wasmanding as he asked, “Do you n to sleep, or not?”
If she didn’t sleep, he would do something more with her.
Even if she always wanted it but she really felt too sore to have more tonight so It was better than ying on the phone in the middle of the night.
She quickly covered herself with the quilt, leaving only her vignt eyes exposed.
Marcelo covered her eyes with his hand, hiding the intensity in his own gaze from her.
She probably wasn’t aware that when she gazed at him with earnestness, her eyes sparkled with innocence, often arousing intense desires in him.
“I’m going to confront Alyssa. Are you sure you want to help me?” Renee asked in her raspy voice. Earlier, she had managed to remove the trending topic and traced back the origin of the news.
Alyssa hadn’t concealed her involvement, making the investigation straightforward.
“What’s the deal with Alyssa?” Marcelo responded.
Why wouldn’t he help Renee?
To her, their rtionship as husband and wife, and her status as his woman, should have been enough reason for him to support her against Alyssa.
“She paid someone to spread rumors about me and Mr. Moore today. I spent hundreds of thousands of dors to suppress the trending topic. She owes me that,” Renee exined, assuming Marcelo was questioning her motives for targeting Alyssa.
Marcelo was almost amused by her words.
“Come on, that’s not much money,” he remarked, smiling.
Renee was quite vindictive.
“Hundreds of thousands of dors is not money? It’s not just about the money. What matters is making her regret her actions, especially when I’m already upset,” Renee dered.
Her intent was clear: she used her financial resources as a means to exact her displeasure on Alyssa.
“What? You don’t want me to scheme against Alyssa? She holds quite an affection for you. You share some of the me for her scheming against me this time!” Renee huffed.
Marcelo, sensing her determination, retrieved a bank card from the bedside table and offered it to her. “Consider thispensation.”
Renee, however, was taken aback by this gesture. The card was a supplementary to his own. “Marcelo, it almost seems like you’re paying me for having sex with you.”

“What are you talking about? It’s pocket money, “Marcelo rified.
Renee’s raspy voice was a jarring sound to Marcelo’s ears. In response, he pulled her into his embrace. “Enough talking. Rest now.”
Renee murmured inaudibly, her throat aching, preferring silence.
She doubted Marcelo harbored any romantic sentiments towards Alyssa. Had it been otherwise, Marcelo wouldn’t have barred Alyssa from entering his office or dered her as his wife in the presence of Alyssa and her father.
Renee foundfort in the steady rhythm of Marcelo’s heartbeat.
Adaptability was a curious thing. Initially, sharing a bed with him made sleep elusive, yet now, his arms were a lulling embrace.
During this transformative process, the change was simply brought about by their intimate encounter.
Renee knew that she was beginning to fall in love with her husband.
