Nancy was seething with anger. Yet, there was nothing she could. She didn’t want to risk embarrassing herself in front of all these people. Moreover, she was certain Jayson woulde and look for herter. 2
Nancy excused herself.
Frederick felt slightly relieved and continued chatting with those beside him. He figured it was best for Nancy to avoid Cecilia so that she wouldn’t have to suffer thetter’s harsh treatment.
On the other hand, Janice was delighted after seeing what had happened. She took a gulp of her drink and leaned toward Ariel.
“There’s no way she’ll ever be able to top Cecilia. That’s the difference between an ordinary woman and someone who’s truly
from the elite circle.”
Frankly speaking, Nancy enjoyed afortable life while growing up. It was just that Sarah had used an unscrupulous method to amass her wealth.
While they had a lot of money, and Sarah had an art background, Nancy had received the elite education expected of wealthy children. Even so, there was a huge gap between normal wealthy families and prominent families with a long history.
Members of those families were mostly very smart and calcting. They could be very cold–hearted and merciless when it came to achieving their goals.
Ariel agreed with that sentiment. They could hardly find someone truly pure and kind–hearted in the elite circle.
At some point, Cecilia went to cut the birthday cake. The atmosphere was electric.
Since she had chartered the entire cruise ship, Cecilia and her guests could pretty much do whatever they wanted on the ship.
“Do you not like this drink?” Samson noticed Ariel had only taken a few sips of a particr drink and asked.
Ariel paused briefly and said, “I couldn’t get used to the taste.”
Samson understood what she meant. “This is one of the specialty drinks here. It’s a cocktail designed specifically to suit thedies‘ pte.”
Ariel stiffened. “It’s a cocktail?”
“That’s right. It’s created with a special method that reduces the taste of alcohol as much as possible. It smells and tastes just like fruit juice. At the same time, it would make the person drinking it feel a bit tipsy. It’s a very popr drink,” Samson exined.
However, Ariel’s lips were pressed into a thin line.
The drink had alcohol in it.
No wonder she felt a bit strange after having a few sips just now. Ariel suffered from alcohol intolerance. She had only taken a small sip, but she could already feel her head spinning.
Ariel was beginning to feel restless. She decided to go and get som air.
“Sorry, it feels a bit stuffy here. I’m gonna go get some fresh air.” Ariel turned around and informed Cecilia in a subdued voice.
The corners of her mouth lifted as Cecilia noticed how Ariel’s checks were turning red.
“Sure, go ahead. You can head straight to your room if you need to est. I reserved the best room for you. It’s room 6103. You can ask one of the attendants to show you the way.”
Ariel nodded.
As she got up, Ariel patted Janice’s shoulder. “Don’t drink too much to the extent of having another ckout.
Janice realized Ariel was leaving. “Where are you going? I’lle with you.”
Ariel could tell Janice was enjoying her time here. She said, “I’m going to get some fresh air.”
Janice finally stopped insisting on following Ariel.
Samson got up. “What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”
“No. You should stay and have fun with the others, Mr. Pryce.” Ariel kept some distance from Samson and stopped him from leaving his seat. “Don’t mind me.”
Since she was quite adamant about it, Samson could only stand there and watch as Ariel walked away.
Ariel could see people almost everywhere she went on the cruise ship.
She could smell the ocean as the sea breeze blew on her face and ruffled her hair.
Ariel stood on the deck for quite some time. As she stared at the crashing waves below, she could hear her heart thumping noisily against her chest. Her heartbeat quickened.
She could feel her cheeks burning and her temples throbbing. Her mind was a mess, and her thoughts were all jumbled up.
This was why Ariel had refrained from drinking.
She suffered very severe symptoms of alcohol intolerance. The situation could be quite serious even if Ariel had only had a small sip of liquor.
Her condition hadn’t improved. Without wasting more time, Ariel turned around and headed for her room.
Her room was on the sixth floor. Ariel took the elevator to get to that floor.
Just as she stepped out of the elevator, Ariel passed by two attendants in their uniforms. The two of them were so focused on their conversation that they didn’t notice Ariel.
