Ariel nearly choked on her drink. She coughed a little.
Cecilia’s words were simply too…
Samson acted swiftly by getting Ariel some tissue. “Do you need some water?”
He stared at Ariel intently. Samson had indirectly proven that Ceci was right when she said there were others who truly cared about Ariel.
Nancy had an awkward look on her face as she watched what was happening.
Samson was being so kind and considerate to Ariel when he had tantly mocked and humiliated Nancy not too long ago. Anyone with eyes could tell that Samson had feelings for Ariel.–
Nancy subconsciously turned her head to study Jayson’s expression.
Jayson was taking a sip of his drink. He had averted his gaze the moment Nancy looked his way. With his gaze lowered, it was impossible to discern the emotions reflected in his eyes.
After a short pause, Nancy sighed in relief.
Jayson wasn’t bothered at all about what was happening.
Meanwhile, Janice grinned from ear to ear. “Well, of course. Ari is very attractive woman. Those who don’t appreciate her are absolutely foolish and ignorant. You are right on point, Ms. Pryce.
She and Cecilia clinked sses. Janice did not miss the opportunity to point out that Jayson was the one at fault.
On the other hand, Ariel thought that the atmosphere felt a bit odd. She nced at Samson and said softly, “Thank you.”
Even though he already knew Ariel was quite proper and prim, Samson couldn’t help noticing how she had been very polite to him upon hearing her response. Essentially, she was still maintaining her distance.
Samson let out a small sigh. He tilted his head and raised his brows. “I’ll be sad if you still think you need to thank me so properly.”
Other women might not be able to resist Samson’s charm. However, he was facing Ariel at the moment.
Ariel was very slow to pick up on the romantic feelings someone else had for her. Moreover, she often dealt with these situations in an overly rational manner. “Sorry.”
Samson could see the confusion in Ariel’s clear eyes. It was somehow both amusing and intriguing how serious she looked at
the moment.
Samson stared at her for quite some time.
Eventually, he snapped out of his daze. Samson turned his head a gave a slight cough. He grabbed his chilled drink from the table and downed it right away.
A strange atmosphere surrounded the two of them after that inter tion. In an instant, they garnered a great deal of attention.
Nancy pursed her lips. She nced at Ariel out of the corners of her eyes and furrowed her brows. Suddenly, she noticed how some couples at the other tables were trying each other’s drinks.
Her heartbeat quickened. She turned her eyes to Jayson.
Jayson was looking down. His eyes were unreadable as he slowly swirled the ss in his hand. It was impossible to tell what was going through his head.
Nancy leaned closer toward him. “Jayson, can we exchange our drinks?”
As Nancy was gradually feeling a bit tipsy, the desire in her heart was bing clearer and stronger. She wanted to exchange drinks with Jayson, just like the other couples were doing.
Jayson directed his gaze to Nancy.
Before he could say anything, Cecilia narrowed her eyes and snickered. “Do you still not know your ce? Do you not have any sense of shame?”
The air grew tense yet again the instant Cecilia shared those remarks.
Nancy stiffened. As she dropped her gaze, agitation shed through her eyes.
Sadly, she couldn’t do anything in retaliation. Nancy knew very well that Cecilia wasn’t someone she could recklessly pick a
fight with.
It also made Nancy realize how hopeless and useless Ariel was. She had said so much, but Ariel hadn’t heeded her words at all. Instead, Ariel still maintained a close rtionship with Cecilia. 2
In the end, Cecilia was stillpletely focused on aiming her attacks at Nancy.
Cecilia didn’t wait for Nancy’s response. She picked up the bottle of liquor and filled Nancy’s ss to the brim.
“If you like drinking that much, I’ll keep youpany so you can drink as much as you want.” Cecilia lifted her ss. She had an icy look in her eyes.
Nancy couldn’t say no as she took in the assertive look on Cecilia’s face.
With Cecilia making a toast like that, Nancy knew she couldn’t possibly refuse, even if she was well aware Cecilia only had malicious intentions. After all, she was the one who said she wanted to drink.
