Nancy could barely process anything after receiving such a crippling blow. It felt like she had plunged into a cold, dark pool- one she might drown in at any moment.
Everything that had unfolded was disastrous and overwhelming for both her and Sarah. She couldn’t make sense of it. Just when things seemed to be moving forward positively, one n after and her crumbled.
Nancy knew she had to find a way to salvage the situation.
Publicly, the major incident at Veyo Solutions was still under wraps. The news about Nancy’s misappropriation of dividends hadn’t leaked.
But inside thepany, employees were stunned when they learned Ariel had reced Nancy as their new boss. Most had been aware of the connection between the two women; now they had clear confirmation and a stronger sense of whom to respect.
That night, Nancy couldn’t sleep. The weight of defeat felt far heavier than any setback before.

Even after Veyo Solutions informed her to clear out her desk, she still couldn’t reach Jayson.
With no other choice, Nancy decided to visit the office. She applied thick makeup to hide the exhaustion and dejection etched on her face.
Just as she stepped into the lobby, she heard footsteps. ncing over her shoulder, she saw Ariel entering, nked by several members of the management team who reported dutifully to her.
Ariel stood out, manding respect from those around her. Meanwhile, Nancy, isted and alone, looked nothing but sad and
defeated.
Nancy’s expression hardened as she tightened her fists.
Ariel was heading upstairs and needed the elevator. By coincidence she and Nancy ran into each other there.
Onlookers couldn’t help but feel a pang of sympathy for Nancy. Only yesterday, she had wielded power and authority here; now,
she’d been cast aside.
Anyone would have lost their mind if they were put in a simr situation.
Nancy detected the sympathetic gazes and felt them like needles poking her skin, making her extremely annoyed. Still, she clenched her jaw and endured the feeling.
As the group stepped into the elevator, Nancy’s voice cut coldly through the air. “Ariel, let’s see how long you can keep this business running.”
Ariel smirked, ncing sideways. “Did Jayson not drive you here day?”
Ariel didn’t respond to Nancy’s remark; instead, she crushed the proud, arrogant mask Nancy was wearing with a single, simple
Anger surged through Nancy Fixing Ariel with a sharp re, she vowed, “One day, I’ll make you pay for humiliating me like this.
Ariel, stepping into the elevator, turned back with a mocking smile “I’ll be waiting. ”
Once the doors closed, Nancy breathed out slowly. Cornered though she was, she refused to lose herposure in front of others.
Nexura Solutions had sent their final warning. If she resisted the city transfer procedures, legal action would follow, and it was a move Nancy couldn’t contest.
She had lost all options at the moment.
Steeling herself, Nancy headed upstairs to pack her things. People eyes followed her every move.
On her way back to the ground floor, Nancy paused to think, then decided to send a WhatsApp message to Renee.
“Renee, did Jayson go homest night?”
No immediate response came–Renee was likely busy with her revision.
Taking a deep breath, Nancy dialed Matt. He probably stayed upte; his voice sounded hoarse when he picked up.
“Matt, are you free today? Should we grab a meal with Jayson?”
Matt hesitated before replying, “Jayson’s probably tied up. He’s busy handling the fallout from yesterday–making sure this incident doesn’t get out. If people find out you misappropriated dividends, it could ruin your chances for the uingpetition.”
His words unexpectedly eased much of Nancy’s anxiety, allowing her to cast aside some of the fears that had gripped her heart.
