Nancy’s eyes widened in realization. She remembered using those very words with Ariel during the celebration party for their project’s sess. Now, those same words were being turned against her, mocking and humiliating her.
Her throat tightened, making it difficult to breathe.
Desperate like a drowning person grasping for air, Nancy looked toward Jayson.
Jayson’s gaze shifted to Ariel. He pushed back his chair and stood. It seems Ms. Walker has made up her mind. And there’s no denying Nancy’s misconduct in this matter. Let’s conclude this here.”
Nancy’s heart skipped a beat at Jayson’s words, but she had no way to protest.
Ariel had achieved her purpose, and she wasn’t about to waste more time on this.
It was a mere coincidence that Jayson had prepared the entrustment agreement. Ariel simply chose to use the opportunity to her advantage.
Sarah and Nancy had been living off the money earned by giarizing Elena’s work. Ariel saw no reason to show mercy to such unscrupulous people. Moreover, everything she had done was lega, and justified. Her only remaining words were, “She got exactly what she deserved. No one forced her to do those things.”
With that, Ariel turned and headed for the door.
Matt watched this unfold, seeing Ariel cold and resolute for the first time. His eyes thennded on Jayson. He struggled to suppress the shock and disbelief within him.
Nancy’s breath came in uneven gasps. As she stared at Ariel’s retreating back, the bottled–up emotions spilled over. Her pride and reputation meant nothing now.
With a cold expression, Nancy lunged forward, clicking sharply in her heels. She grabbed Ariel’s wrist, yanking her around. Then, with her other hand raised, Nancy aimed to p Ariel’s face.
Chad, standing beside Ariel, hardened his expression when he realized what Nancy was about to do.
He raised a hand to block Nancy and shoved her away with force. His eyes gleamed coldly. “Resorting to violence now? If you couldn’t face the consequences, you shouldn’t have done what you did. Don’t me others for your mess.
“Nancy Stanton, you’re pathetic and ridiculous!”
Nancy nearly stumbled back from Chad’s shove. But rage consume her, overriding any sense of calm or reason.
“Isn’t she the one who’s being cunning and vicious? Ariel, are you hot afraid of divine punishment?” Nancy clenched her fists, seething as she watched everything copse around her.
Bit by bit, Ariel had destroyed her and Sarah.
Ariel fized her gaze on Nancy, who had lost herposure. The only word that came to mind to describe her was unreasonable.
“In that case, is everything happening to you and your mother now divine punishment?” Ariel asked with a stony look.” Congrattions, you two have lost everything now.”
Nancy’s face was drained of color.
Without waiting for a reply, Ariel turned and walked away.
Tom greeted Jayson as he passed. “Mr. Larkin, I guess I’ll-
Jayson lowered his gaze from a fixed spot and looked at Tom. “Goack to the office first. We need to handle the follow–up
procedures at Nexura Solutions.”
Then, Tom left the room as well.
Those who were still in the room began murmuring among themselves.
The management team asionally looked at Jayson, but they ke their doubts and suspicions to themselves. After all, Jayson’s decision to send them there was strange to begin with.
Nancy was dazed. In a single day, she was ousted from Veyo Solutions and stripped of her shareholder rights.
After a long pause, she looked at Jayson behind her.
Jayson walked slowly toward Nancy and looked down. His gaze briefly settled on her hand before he asked, “How many percent of your shares did you sell?”
Nancy’s mouth went dry.
It hit her then. No one had made her do any of it. Nancy’s choices–selling her shares and misappropriating her dividends— were what had led to this terrible situation.
Matt walked over to them, looked at Jayson, and said, “Nexura Solutions was one of Jayson’spanies, so it’s not unusual for them to have something like an entrustment agreement.
“They’re also the only ones working on military tech products. Having them invest in Veyo Solutions made sense. As for thepensation to the art gallery, you should have informed Jayson. It was beyond your scope to handle alone.”
