Inside 228

As the person with more experience, Carlos would try to remain professional and answer questions involving his. expertise.

Frank and Colin sat right opposite Ariel, Colin showed no interest in what was happening around them. He had an Intense look in his eyes as he spoke to Ariel in a subdued voice.

Perry caught sight of that just as he was sipping on his drink. There was a curious look in his eyes. He knew Colin was often frigid and unfriendly at their workce. Some would even say he was too reserved. Yet Colin seemed really warm and easygoing when he talked to Ariel.

Perry couldn’t help but wonder about the reason for this change.

Just then, someone asked Nancy, who was seated at one of the tables in the front row, a question.

“Ms. Stanton, we’ve noticed how Mr. Larkin has apanied you during this trip. We’re really curious about one thing. How did the two of you meet?”

Somehow, the conversation turned to Jayson and Nancy’s rtionship in an instant.

Jayson slowly lifted his gaze. Nancy chuckled. “Well, the two of us…”

Chad had a sip of water and whispered to Ariel. He scoffed. No one’s interested in hearing how he cheated on his Wife!”

Ariel had finished writing thest line. She turned off her phone.

At this point, Ariel was no longer bothered by the mention of this topic. Whenever Jayson was around, he and Nancy would surely be the center of everyone’s attention.

Ariel wasn’t interested in their affairs in the slightest.

Instead of Nancy responding, Matt answered the question. He raised his brows and said excitedly, “Nancy’s probably too shy to share her story. I’ll tell you guys what happened.

“I think it was back in Julyst year? Jayson met Ms. Stanton twice when he was doing business with her ex- stepdad’spany, which was based overseas.

“After that, Jayson attended an art exhibition at Merinia and bumped into Nancy, who helped organize Mrs. Stanton’s art exhibition. Jayson was considering getting one of Mrs. Stanton’s artworks then, and Nancy was responsible for handling the negotiations with him. One thing led to another. I guess you could say their meeting was fate’s doing!”

Matt felt that he had more or less witnessed how Jayson and Nancy came together.

Merinia had always been quite well–known for its art exhibitions. Back then, Jayson would often make time to visit those exhibitions, and Matt had tagged along during some of those trips.

Nancy smiled wryly. “Back then, Jayson woulde and visit the art exhibitions asionally. I consider myself to be pretty well–versed in art. We got close gradually after meeting each other a few times.”

Jayson seemed to have thought about something. He dropped his gaze and smiled nonchntly

Meanwhile, Ariel drank her tea silently, lookingpletely unbothered.

Chad snickered and remarked scornfully, “How admirable of him! He’s traveled across oceans and continents just to meet with his mistress.”

Chad continued to seethe in silence, his thoughts swirling in frustration. He found it absurd that anyone would want to hear about how one of them had betrayed their partner and destroyed another person’s marriage.

It baffled him that they even knew the precise moment the affair had begun as if such knowledge were something to boast about.

After thinking about it for a bit, Chad chuckled. He whispered to Ariel, “Mr. Crosby is only putting Mancy in a tough spot by sharing with so many people the exact timeline Jayson and Nancy had met and got together.

“What if the fact that you and Jayson were married was somehow leaked or revealed? Nancy will surely be attacked and criticized for seeing a married man and ruining someone else’s marriage.”

Chad couldn’t wait for his predictions toe true.

Ariel recalled some of her memories from that time. She finally learned why Jayson had traveled abroad for work frequently during those days.

Chad cast a nce in Carlos‘ direction. Just as he expected, Carlos‘ face had darkened.

Perhaps unable to listen to the rest of it, Carlos stood up with an icy expression. With his hands on his back, he walked out of the restaurant silently.

    Many people were left bbergasted.

Nancy seemed confused as she watched Carlos leave. She asked Jayson, who was beside her, “Why did Mr. Carlos suddenly leave? He seems quite displeased for some reason.

Jayson didn’t even blink as he replied tly, “I’m not sure.”

Ariel could tell that Carlos must be feeling quite upset. After a moment’s consideration, she quietly slipped away without attracting anyone’s attention to look for Carlos.

She caught up with him soon enough. Ariel scratched her head. “Why didn’t you finish eating your food, Mr. Carlos?”

Carlos shot a re at her. “How can you even still smile in this situation?”

Ariel curled her lips and said firmly, “I’m alright now, Mr. Carlos. You don’t have to worry about me.”

Carlos wanted to nag at her a bit more but stopped himself eventually. He snorted.

“A man’s heart is the most worthless thing in the world. There’s no telling how long those two people’s rtionship willst. As for you, you should work on improving yourself and your knowledge. Those are the things that truly belong to you and you only.”

    Ariel beamed. “Alright.”

Before he left, Carlos reminded her. “You and Chad should drop by my room tomorrow. I’m sure you’ve analyzed and listed down the key points of what you’ve learned so far. We’ll talk about it tomorrow.”

Ariel agreed to it right away,

After Carlos left, Ariel let out a soft sigh of relief. She decided not to go back to the restaurant either.

Having resolved the technical difficulties that had stumped the others, Ariel felt satisfied and decided to go for a stroll

When she was walking along a corridor outside the hotel, Ariel heard someone talking,

“Has the interior design for the house beenpleted?” Matt said, followed by the sound of someone flicking the

    lighter.

“Yes, it’s almost done.” Jayson’s voice was cold and monotonous.

Matt chuckled. “I heard that you even added a baby room in the house. Are you that eager?”
