Inside 68

    Chapter 68

After Sarah’s divorce, she might have walked away with a few tens of millions at most, but they were still a far cry </bpared to true elite families.

Nancy frowned slightly, and Matt agreed that Ariel’s words were sharp. “We were having a civil conversation; what’s with the personal attacks?”

It was clear that Ariel wasn’t willing to sell the gallery the moment she saw it was Nancy. But no matter how she kicked up a fuss, she’d most likely end uppromising just for Jayson’s sake.

This jealous and bitter behavior was starting to look a little pathetic.

“No room for discussion?” Jayson finally spoke calmly and met Ariel’s gaze, but his response made it clear that he’d give Nancy whatever she wanted. He was the source of Nancy’s confidence.

Ariel’s face paled. Was Jayson going to pay for Nancy? Was he going to support Nancy even if she was trying to snatch something that belonged to Ariel and Elena?

No matter the time or ce, to him, Nancy would alwayse first.

Ariel met his eyes head–on. “You’re free to give her whatever you want, but it’s my choice whether to sell it or not.

Nancy narrowed her eyes. It seemed Ariel wasn’t going to give in that easily.

Matt frowned. Was Ariel seriously turning down a couple of hundred million just to spite Nancy?

Jayson’s lips curled in a nonchnt smirk. “Suit yourself. Just think it through.”

He got up and walked past Ariel out the door, while Nancy and Matt followed.

As Nancy left, she shot Ariel aplicated yet ironic look.

The agent seemed flustered, “Please think about it, Ms. Walker! That’s Mr. Larkin from Bluum Corp! He’s rich and trying to please his mother–inw, so money is nothing to him if he wants to buy the gallery! You’d be crazy to say no!”

Ariel couldn’t hear a word of it as she walked out numb. It felt like she’d been pped hard several times until she could barely breathe.

She understood what Jayson’s words meant. Even if she refused, he’d still find a way to make her agree.

Upon reaching the door, she stared nkly at the ground.

Had Sarah moved back and just happened to take an interest in Elena’s gallery? Didn’t she know it belonged to the Walker family? Oh, she had to know what she was doing!

Back then, when Elena introduced Sarah to her connections, she’d exhibited thetter’s painting at the art gallery to get started. Sarah’s first earnings came from here and lifted her out of a tough spot.

Art school was expensive. Sarah came from a remote town with modest means, and her parents had practically sold everything they could to support her.

After she met Elena, thetter generously paid her tuition, introduced her to the elites, and offered her a way up

the socialdder. Yet, Sarah ended up being the one betraying Elena.

After all this time, Sarah was finally back, and the first thing she did was set her sights on the gallery. What could her intentions possibly be?

Ariel worried that Jayson might approach Katie to tell her everything about buying the art gallery for Nancy and Sarah, and that they were getting divorced because he had cheated.

The prospect of the gallery falling into the hands of Sarah, the woman responsible for Elena’s deep wounds, would fill Katie with despair. How could she possibly withstand such a devastating blow?

Ariel was utterly alone and defeated, her face growing paler. Perhaps she got too worked up as her lower abdomen started twisting with sharp pain.

She took a few unsteady steps, and the world suddenly went ck.

“Careful!” a concerned voice called out. Perry strode forward to catch her in time.

Sensing how cold her body was, he immediately took off his thick coat and wrapped it around her. His expression was dark as he picked her up in his arms.

Freya ran over in a panic. “What’s going on with Ms. Walker?”

Perry carried her to the car. “We’re going to the hospital!”

Freya climbed in and held the unconscious Ariel close.

At the hospital, Perry held onto Ariel in his arms and broke into a jog. Behind them, Freya suddenly stopped and pulled out her phone to snap a picture of their backs.

Perry didn’t know what was wrong with Ariel, but she seemed in a terrible state and felt far too light in his arms. He told the doctors to run every test they could and find out what the cause was.

The doctors filled in a bunch of forms and went through each checkup.

Finally, a nurse told him, “You can pick up the results now.”

He checked the time and got up to print the test reports.
