Ka stumbled back, her heart racing, until her back hit the wall.

She struggled to remember, forcing herself to recall what had happened.

But her mind was filled only with the blood–red sky reflected by the raging fire. That was the final fate of the Limitless Sect, reduced to ashes.

Brian was gone. His parents were gone too…

‘Maybe I’ve forgotten,‘ Ka thought, ‘or maybe that blue–eyed man is just trying to trick me!‘

Ka struggled to catch her breath, desperately telling herself, ‘It has to be the second one. There’s no way I’m forgetting. He must be lying to me!‘

“The couple who raised you in the Limitless Sect–they were Brian’s real parents!” the blue–eyed man spat out, his eyes burning with hatred.

Ka felt like she’d been struck by lightning, almost passing out. She gulped for air and stammered, “And you? Who are you, really?”

“Me…?” The blue–eyed man gave a mysterious smile, his answer hanging in the air.

But before Ka could press him, he suddenly tensed up, spun around, and in a sh, vaulted over the courtyard wall. With a few agile leaps, he vanished into the darkness like a shadow.

Ka tried to run after him, but her mind was still reeling from the shock. Her body just wouldn’t listen. By the time she managed to move, he was already long gone.

‘Who is he, really?‘ Ka thought, feeling utterly defeated and lost. She crouched down, clutching her head, her mind aching as she tried to make sense of everything.

“Ka.” The familiar voice called out above her.

Ka looked up and saw Landon standing there.

He wasn’t wearing his usual suit today. Instead, he was rocking a set of ck athletic gear.

It looked stretchy enough for a fight–like he was ready to throw down at any moment.

“Why are you here?” Ka blurted out, surprised.

Landon reached out and helped her up, his voice low and serious. “I’ve been here for a few days.”

    “You…” Ka began, trailing off.

“I’m after that guy too,” Landon said.

Ka finally got it. They’d both been working in the shadows, and ended up running into each other.

    ??

    :

“Landon, who is he?” Ka pressed, clutching his hand, her voice trembling with urgency.

She had to know the truth.

“Honestly, I still don’t know,” Landon said, worry etched on his face. “Who he is isn’t what matters right now…”

“No, it matters!” Ka shot back, her voice getting louder. “He said Brian was the young master of the Limitless Sect…”

    Landon fell silent.

He was just as stunned tonight when he heard it.

Brian was a good guy. He always had Ka’s back all these years, and when she finally found happiness, he quietly faded into the background.

He loved her, but he never said it out loud because between themy a deep, bloody grudge….

“Landon, just tell me who is Brian, really? What’s his true identity?” Ka pressed, her voice shaking with

    urgency.

“Calm down. Let’s get out of here first. This isn’t the right ce to talk,” Landon said, keeping his voice low.

    “Okay,” Ka replied softly.

Ka grabbed Landon’s hand and pulled him outside.

The moonlight stretched their shadows long and thin, spilling across the narrow, old alley.

It wasn’t until they got in the car that Landon finally spoke. “Aren’t you worried Tuff will be mad if he finds out you’re digging into all this behind his back?”

    Ka stayed quiet.

She wasn’t worried about Tuff getting mad.

But right now, she was really scared.

She was terrified of Brian and that blue–eyed man… The Limitless Sect had once been her saviors, the ones who raised her as their own.

But in the end, it was her husband and brother who brought about the destruction of the Limitless Sect.

She didn’t know how to face Brian after all that.

Every time these thoughts crossed her mind, her chest felt so tight she could barely breathe. The pain was suffocating, but there was no one she could confide in, nowhere to let it all out…

“Ka, stop overthinking. It’s bad for your health,” Landon said calmly. “We should’ve told Tuff about all this

    sooner.”

    …

“You’re right…” Ka sighed, her shoulders slumping.

    :

She let her hands drop, exhausted. “You call him. I don’t want to talk right now.”

Landon made the call, and Tuff showed up in no time.

When he saw Ka looking so defeated and broken, he went pale. “What happened?”

“Get in the car. I’ll exin,” Landon said.

As Landon slowlyid out everything that had happened, Tuff’s jaw dropped.

He quickly pulled up the files on the Limitless Sect on his phone–sure enough, the sect leader’sst name was Shawn.

“It really is Brian…” Tuff muttered, his voice barely above a whisper.

He hadn’t seen thising at all. He nced at Ka, worry etched on his face, pletely at a loss for what to do next.

The Limitless Sect had acted as spies, stealing secrets. They were a malignant force that had to be wiped out.

But the Limitless Sect were also the ones who saved Ka’s life.

If Brian’s parents hadn’t taken her in, she would’ve died ages ago.

“That guy said Brian went off to study medicine. He was never even listed as a member of the Limitless Sect. Maybe he never wanted anything to do with his parents‘ business in the first ce,” Landon mused.

Tuff quickly agreed, “Yeah, that must be it! Otherwise, why wouldn’t he be out there trying to avenge his parents?”

    The room went dead silent.

Brian’s enemies were none other than Tuff and Landon–the two men Ka cared about most in this world.

‘How was Brian supposed to get his revenge now?‘ Landon thought.

Tuff and Landon exchanged nces, a silent understanding passing between them. “Let’s just face Brian head–on,” Landon said. “Time to find out what he really wants.”

“No!” Ka shouted, her voice cracking with emotion.

‘How could I possibly face Brian now? I’m too ashamed!‘ she thought.

“Ka, take it easy. Maybe that guy was just trying to drive a wedge between us,” Landon said softly, trying to calm her down.

Ka gripped her cor, her voice shaky. “Drive a wedge between us?”

“We need to talk to him and clear things up. Otherwise, we might hurt him all over again,” Tuff said.

If there was anyone in this world–besides her own family–whose safety Ka worried about most, it was

    Brian.

He was a genuinely good guy, and all she wanted was for him to be safe and happy.

They might not keep in touch much, but deep down, she would always wish him the best.

“But what if it really was him?” Ka asked, her voice shaky with worry.

“Then we’ll just put everything out in the open and talk it through–figure out a solution that works for everyone,” Landon said, shooting Tuff a knowing look. “Alright, let me get you both home first. Once I’ve reached out to him, we’ll see what happens next.”

    “Okay,” Ka replied softly.

Tuff shot her a quick wink to show he got the message.

He wasn’t too worried about Ka breaking down. What really scared him was her getting another one of those headaches from digging up the past.
