Ex-WIfe 363

    Chapter 363

The Prescott family wasted no time spreading the word that they were looking for Landen. Meanwhile, Ka, fresh out of her facial reconstruction surgery, showed up at the Prescott family residence.

Her drop–dead gorgeous looks made Joyce burn with jealousy.

Joyce hadn’t left the country at all. Instead, she’d been hiding out at home, spying on everything going on with the Prescott family.

‘Who was it that kidnapped Landen? Could Ka have other enemies in Lunova? It must be, thought Joyce.

Joyce felt even more pleased inside.

If someone else had gotten rid of Ka before she did, everything would have gone smoothly for her.

Joyce’s gaze sharpened as a cunning idea sparked in her mind.

    *****

Mid–autumn was there, and the days in Lunova were cool, with a bit of cold in the mornings and evenings.

Ka roamed all over Lunova with her crew, hunting for any sign of Landen.

    It was pointless, of course.

She knew it, and so did everyone else.

It was all for Jonny to see.

Ka couldn’t afford to fall into Jonny’s hands again. So she decided to y along, pretending to search for Landen while refusing to give in.

Landon, meanwhile, went back to find Monroe.

“Ka, have some water,” Amelia said, sticking close as they searched. With their massive squad of bodyguards, they drew attention everywhere they went.

At the birthday party, the Hughes and Zuckerberg families announced Amelia’s identity to the world, and she instantly became the center of attention among all the big shots from business and politics.

Now, with her title as the third Miss of the Zuckerberg family, doors opened for her wherever she went.

“Amy, are we drawing enough attention yet?” Ka rasped, her voice rough from all the stress over her son.

“More than enough. Jonny’s bound to notice,” Amelia reassured her. “It’s his son. He’s not gonna

    for now.”

Ka took a sip of water, partly to quench her thirst and partly to calm her nerves.

‘Damn it. How many Jonny clones did Monroe make? Every time I take one out, another shows up! Is he trying to torture me to death?‘ Ka thought, exasperated.

The sycamore trees on both sides of the street were shedding their leaves in the autumn wind, the yellowed foliage drifting down like dying butterflies.

Autumn winds always brought a touch of gloom.

Ka’s brow stayed knotted, refusing to ease up.

‘Jonny, the unatic, is probably getting a real kick out of watching me turn the whole city upside down looking for Landen.

If he’s in a good mood, he might not take it out on Landen… right?‘ Ka grumbled inwardly.

“Landon and Tuff will bring back good news, Ka,” Amelia said, trying to cheer her up.

“Yes, they will.” Ka gritted her teeth.

She wasn’t alone in the fight. She had a powerful force backing her up.

‘So Jonny wants to keep hiding? Fine. I’ll make Monroe drag him out!‘ Ka vowed to herself.

“Mrs. Prescott? Is that you?” Suddenly, a busty woman stopped in her tracks and called out.

Ka and Amelia both looked up at the same time.

“Mrs. Prescott, I’m Chelsea,” the woman said, sticking out her chubby hand. Her syrupy–sweet voice made Ka’s skin

    crawl.

As Chelsea reached out, she deliberately squeezed her chest together, making an obvious show of her ample assets.

“I don’t know you,” Ka snapped, clearly annoyed.

Even if the woman meant no harm, Ka wasn’t in the mood to deal with her.

“I know you, though,” Chelsea said, checking Ka out from head to toe. “You’re beautiful!”

    Ka was getting fed up.

“We’ve got important things to do, so we’ll have to pass on the chit–chat,” Amelia said, shutting her down.

“But my baby in my belly is gonna be counting on you someday!” Chelsea insisted.

Ka froze, instinctively ncing at Chelsea’s stomach.

Chelsea was all curves–ample up top and in the back–but her belly was t as a board.

With a body like hers, who cared about her face?

“What nonsense are you spouting?” Amelia barked, her eyes shing with anger.

Chelsea said, “While you were getting your surgery, Mrs. Prescott, I carried a child for you, But don’t worry, I know how these things go, Once the baby’s born, I’ll give it to you and disappear, never showing up again.”

    Ka was stunned.

‘Did Tuff go behind my back and secretly arrange for a surrogate, nning to keep the baby and make the mother vanish? she thought, her mind spinning.

“Stop talking nonsense! Someone! Get her out of here!” Amelia barked, waving for the bodyguards to drag Chelsea away.

Chelsea was quickly taken away, but her words kept ringing in Ka’s ears, refusing to go away.

Ka slumped down by the side of the road, feeling like her whole world was crashing down.-

She couldn’t wrap her head around the fact that Tuff would stab her in the back.

“Ka, don’t listen to her. Tuff’s not like that,” Amelia sighed, trying tofort her.

“I know, but…” Ka clutched at her chest, struggling to put her feelings into words.

Her reason told her that she couldn’t trust a passing woman randomly.

However, deep down, a bad premonition told her it was true…

“Ka, you’re so anxious about Landen right now that your guard is down. It’s easy for someone to get to you. I think this is one of Jonny’s tricks,” Amelia said, her tone serious.

Ka felt a sudden jolt of rity. “Yes. It must be Jonny’s scheme. He wants to mess with my head and make me go with him…”

“So don’t fall for it,” Amelia said, helping Ka up. “If Tuff saw you like this, he’d be upset.”

    “Yes.”

Ka took a deep breath, pulled herself together, and kept searching for Landen.

Watching from the shadows, Joyce arched a brow in surprise. ‘Wow, she’s keeping her cool?‘

“Ms. Lambert, I even threw in a bunch of extra lines on top of what you gave me!” Chelsea said, shing a fawning smile.

“She’s got nerves of steel,” Joyce muttered. “Find another way to rattle her next time. No script from me, just improvise.”

Then Joyce handed Chelsea a fat wad of cash.

“Will do, Ms. Lambert,” Chelsea replied eagerly.

Meanwhile, at the Project Azureveil Research Department, Landon and Monroe were locked in a tense standoff.

Landon’smanding aura was so overwhelming that everyone around him felt the pressure, but Monroe stood his ground, totally unfazed.

“Landon, you so much as touch me, and Landen will suffer for it,” Monroe warned, his tone icy and full of threat.

“You think I’m that crude, Mr. Montgomery? I won’t stoop to torture,” Landon replied with a cold smirk. “I know all about your Jonny clones. Even if I kill this one, there’ll just be another waiting in the wings.”

“Smart move!” Monroe let out a smugugh, looking way too pleased with himself.

“So, what the hell do you want?” Tuff’s fists balled up, barely restraining himself from decking Monroe right then and

    there.

Monroe gave him a dismissive look, then turned away like Tuff wasn’t even worth his attention.

It was king–level disdain. Monroe acted like he ruled the ce, and Tuff was nothing.

Tuff was so mad that he could cough up blood.

“Give me back the Mystic Sect,” Monroe said, his tone cold and demanding.

“No way,” Both Landon and Tuff refused in unison.

Monroe said, “The reason I founded the Mystic Sect is simple. I wanted to resurrect my wife.”

Landon was at a total loss for words.

    Tuff was speechless.

‘How could anyone bring the dead back to life?‘ Both Landon and Tuff thought, utterly stunned.

“You heard me right. I’m talking resurrection, not cloning. No matter how perfect a clone is, it’s still a copy, not the real person,” Monroe said.

“That’s ridiculous! What kind of technology could bring someone back from the dead?” Tuff scoffed, his voice dripping

    with sarcasm.

Monroe didn’t even blink, saying, “With superpowers.”

Tuff felt a chill running down his spine.

Landon mentally went through the list of “Superpower Scientists” they’d captured from the Mystic Sect..

None of them could bring someone back from the dead.

“I can’t do it yet, but the world’s full of surprises. One day, I’ll find someone with the superpower to resurrect the dead,” Monroe said, his voice full of conviction.

Landon and Tuff both let out a sigh of relief.

‘So he hasn’t found anyone yet. Thank god!‘ both of them thought at the same time, feeling a wave of relief.

Sure, some folks might have wild abilities–seeing through walls, hearing a pin drop from miles away, even reading minds -but resurrection? That was not a thing.

If that were real, the whole world would go off the rails.

    15:47 Tue, 26 Aug OA·

    Monroe was chasing pipe dreams.

“You don’t believe me?” Monroe gave a sly smile. “Astrology says someone with healing powers is already out there. And trust me. The resurrection is around the corner.”
