Chapter 320
‘Clones?‘ Amelia was stunned, and then a wave of panic washed over her. ‘That little the Mystic Sect not only has the Amnesia Chip and the lone spet, but they even have clones now!‘ For á split second, she didn’t dare make a sound, just stared at Landon with suspicion in her eyes,
Landon understood her worries and reassured her in her mind: “I’m not.”
‘Phew.‘ Amelia let out a heavy sigh of relief. ‘Thank goodness, it’s really him,‘ she thought to herself.
But then she thought, ‘If the Mystic Sect could clone Porter for Joanna, why didn’t they just clone Landon for Monica?‘
“Their cloning technology is pretty mature, but clones usually have some ws. Monica is a perfectionist and wouldn’t ept a cloned husband,” Landon exined.
Amelia feltpletely at ease now.
Just picturing Monica getting all lovey–dovey with a cloned Landon made Amelia shudder. ‘Ugh, I can’t handle this! My eyes! That’s way too much!‘ sheined inwardly.
“Hey, sis, this coffee and pastries are really good,” Ka said.
Amelia looked shocked and nervous, so Ka guessed Landon must have told her something big.
‘Come on, spill it! Let me in on the secret!‘ she thought anxiously.
‘Damn, I’m his own sister and I still can’t read Landon’s mind,’ Ka grumbled to herself.
“Yeah, it is. That’s why I’ve been kind of obsessed with this cetely,” Amelia said, taking a sip of her coffee and then started typing on her phone.
Ka read the message, her face turning pale with shock and fear.
Amelia casually deleted the message and went back to sipping her coffee like nothing happened.
Ka started drinking her coffee too, taking sip after sip.
Landon watched the two of them trying to steady their nerves with coffee, and his heart ached for them.
“Don’t worry, they’re relying on tech–honestly, that’s a good sign,” he sent a reassuring thought.
“Mm, it’s good,” Amelia murmured absentmindedly.
When Gloria was poisoned by Cardemora, the so–called antidote was totally unscientific, leaving everyonepletely confused and at a total loss for
what to do.
And all those “supernatural trinkets” in Marvin’s study just pushed them further into thinking it was all some kind of ult stuff.
Ever sinceing to Dreicean, Amelia had worried more than once that Landon might get caught up in one of Monica’s mystical schemes.
But if everything was actually rooted in science, then the Flying Tiger Sect might really stand a chance.
“Amy, there’s something else I need to tell you…” Landon sent the thought to her.
Amelia frowned, thinking, ‘Just say it already! Why are you dragging this out?‘
“Actually, your dad, Porter, isn’t dead. He’s been alive all along,” Landon told her mentally.
tter! Amelia’s fruit fork slipped from her fingers and hit the table with a tter.
JA
‘Dad’s alive?‘ Ame’s mind went nk.
“Giovanna and I both saw him. He was in Pinecrest, keeping vigil at your mother’s grave, fut he’s been wracked with guilt and just can’t bring Eitruelt see you. Please try to understand,” Landon exined.
Amelia’s heart thundered in her chest, beating like crazy.
‘Dad’s in Pinecrest? We were right there, so close to each other… she thought, her mind spinning.
“Joanna doesn’t know either. She took the clone, and I have no clue what she’s up to. Just remember, if she tries to bring Porter to meet you, don’t let her fool you.” Landon’s voice echoed in her mind.
Amelia struggled to keep her emotions in check, nodding as she took the new fruit fork Landon handed her.
“Ka, about Daniel…” Amelia started, but then trailed off.
Landon told her mentally, “Daniel doesn‘
t know
So all three siblings had been kept in the dark.
the truth either.”
‘Why go through all this?‘ Amelia thought, her heart aching.
‘It’s not like I even hate him.‘
‘If he’s alive, why not juste home and be
us?‘
After Ka processed all this, she switched gears and got down to business. “Hey, sis, the office building will be done with renovations in a few days, so we’ll be heading back to work soon. Make sure you enjoy your vacation while itsts!”
“Sure! I’ve been off for so long, I actually want to check out what the new office looks like,” Amelia replied.
Landon realized that the Flying Tiger Sect had already started investigating the medical building, and any day now, they’d be breaking into the enemy’s stronghold.
‘Good, very good,‘ he thought to himself.
The afternoon sunlight poured into the café, and gentle piano music drifted through the air.
The more beautiful the atmosphere in the café, the more excited they felt inside.
That bittersweet longing of seeing each other but not being able to reunite was finally about to end. Landon wanted to
“Landon!” came a furious shout. It was Monroe.
Amelia and Ka’s faces fell, and they immediately stood up to leave.
“You two, stop right there!” Monroe shouted.
Amelia felt her palms grow mmy with nerves.
‘Of all times to run into Monroe, it had to be when Night Owl wasn’t here!‘ she thought, her heart pounding.
“Who the hell are you?” Ka said coolly, turning to face Monroe.
Monroe gave her a once–over and asked, “And who exactly are you two?”
go home.
“Are you a cop or something?” Ka smirked like a street punk. “By the way, the bathrooms here are men’s and women’s, totally separate. We’re not in your way, so no need to make a fuss!”
Chapter 320
Then she just dragged Amelia straight into thedies‘ room.
Monroe was about to say something else, but Joanna, who was with her, quickly stopped her. “Mr. Montgomery, this in a public ce. Leitze business.”
“Landon, what are you doing here?” Monroe snapped. “Didn’t I tell you to stay home and make things right with Monica?”
“She doesn’t like me. She told me to get lost…” Landon said, letting a hint of hurt show on his face. I was feeling pretty down, sot came out to us pay
head.”
It sounded perfectly reasonable.
“You too—how could you go sulking with a girl?” Joannaughed. “You’re just too honest for your own good, never know how to y it smart. Mo wonder Monica’s mad at you.”
Monica fixed Landon with a look so sharp it was like she wished her eyes could turn into X–rays and scan him from head to toe, just to catch him in a lie
“Unrequited love, huh… What, am I just supposed to sit at home and watch them be happy without me…?” Landon sighed, his head hanging low
He let out a low sigh, looking every bit the boken male lead from a melodrama.
Joanna couldn’t help but feel a bit sorry for him. “Mr. Montgomery, just let it go. As long as he’s safe, that’s what matters.”
“Youe with me, now. And don’t even think about sneaking out again,” Monroe snapped.
At Monroe’smand, Landon was escorted away.
Meanwhile, Ka and Amelia were stuck in the bathroom, both feeling stifled and frustrated.
Kayta was fuming, while Amelia’s heart ached for Landon.
‘Monroe, you damn scumbag! How dare you bully one of the Kingsley men!‘ Amelia cursed inwardly.
“Ka, don’t be mad. This is just temporary,” Amelia said, trying to calm her down.
“And you shouldn’t be sad either. We’ll bounce back soon,” Amelia added, trying to reassure her.
The two of them hugged, trying tofort each other, but the more they did, the worse they felt.
‘He’s Landon, the most powerful man in Norava, and now Monroe’s bossing him around like he’s some stray dog or nobody,” Amelia thought, her heart
aching.
“Ka, don’t you think Joanna seems a little differenttely?” Amelia asked.
“Her? I don’t really know her,” Ka said, shaking her head. “But just judging by the stuff she’s done, she’s pretty nasty.”
“Yeah, exactly! With her temper, she normally wouldn’t have stepped in to help
us out like that,” Amelia agreed.
Ka went quiet, deep in thought.
Joanna was cold and vicious–she never lifted a finger to help anyone.
But honestly, if Monroe had kept pressing today, no matter how good their disguises were, they probably would’ve slipped up. Joanna real huge favor.
hem a
“She shouldn’t have been able to see through us. Even Monroe didn’t notice anything…” Amelia nced at herself, then at Ka in full disguise. “Maybe I’m just being paranoid?”
“Let’s reserve judgment on her for now. The top priority is to tell Daniel that your father
still alive!” Ka said.
