Ex-WIfe 293

    Chapter 293

There was no way a prison could hold Monroe. Just the fact that he could control time was enough for him to break out

But as for making sure he died behind bars… Landon and Tuff were starting to discuss how feasible that n really was.

“With Night Owl’s current condition, it’s going to be tough to hypnotize Monroe again. But if we wait too long, something unexpected might happen.” Landon mused.

They needed to figure out a way that didn’t involve Night Owl at all.

“Let’s just poison him!” Tuff suggested.

Aiden, leaning against the doorframe, sneered, “That won’t do a thing.”

    “Why not?” Tuff asked.

“The Montgomery family has a special research organization. They’ve not only developed memory–erasing chips but also made Monroe immune to all poisons,” Aiden exined.

Tuff blurted out, “That’s insane! How could anyone be immune to all poisons? What is this, some kind of TV drama or something…”

“It’s true,” Aiden insisted. “My brother told me himself before he died.”

Tuff and Landon exchanged nces, both at a loss for words.

Shooting him was impossible, and poisoning was out of the question too. That meant there was only one thing left to try: ask Night Owl to step in again.

“Can Night Owl really do it one more time?” Tuff asked.

Before Landon could answer, Aiden snapped angrily, “She’s already in such bad shape, and you still want to put her through this?”

Tuff and Landon both looked at Aiden, puzzled, and said in unison, “What’s it to you?”

“I’m involved in this too, so of course I get a say,” Aiden shot back. “Aren’t you guys from the Flying Tiger Sect supposed to be powerful? And now you have to count on a woman to bail you out?”

Tuff frowned and asked, “Aiden, have you fallen for Night Owl or something?”

    Aiden froze.

‘Me, interested in Night Owl? No way, that’s impossible,’ he thought.

He’d only ever loved one woman in his whole life, and that was Amelia.

“Why do you care about her so much?” Tuff asked.

Aiden was acting really weird today.

“I…” Aiden hesitated before finally saying, I just can’t stand the way you’re treating her.”

“But Night Owl is totally fine with it!” Tuff said, winking at Aiden, deliberately provoking him.

Sure enough, Aiden’s expression changed, and his voice turned sharp. “Just because she’s willing doesn’t make it right! You know she’s on

the verge of copsing, and you’re still pushing her to do this?”

“Landon, didn’t you promise her husband you’d take care of her and make sure she stays safe and alive?”

“What’s the difference between what you’re doing now and killing her yourself?”

Landon furrowed his brow in thought, while Tuff shot Aiden a weird look.

The heavy silence in the room finally made Aiden realize just how out of line he’d been.

He awkwardly rubbed his nose and said, “I just can’t stand the way you’re using her!”

“Why the hell do you care?” Night Owl’s voice drifted over from behind, soft and warm.

    Aiden instantly felt awkward.

He turned around to see Night Owl, still looking pale, and forced an awkward smile. “I was just worried about your health…”

“Who do you think you are to me? What gives you the right to make decisions for me?” Night Owl’s voice was cold, with azy edge that came from just waking up.

Aiden was at a loss for words.

A fresh wave of sadness washed over him.

He rarely showed concern for anyone, and yet she didn’t appreciate it at all. She couldn’t even recognize genuine kindness.

    “Night Owl…” he started.

“My business is none of your concern. Get lost!” she snapped.

Night Owl walked past Aiden with a cold expression and satzily across from Tuff.

“So, what’s the next n?” she asked.

Tuff didn’t dare say anything and looked over at Landon.

Landon red at him, thinking, ‘Why are you dumping this on me now?‘

The two of them just stared at each other, neither willing to speak up. Aiden felt a little better seeing that.

At least they still had a bit of a conscience.

He cleared his throat and said, “There’s no next n. You guys can leave now.”

Night Owl gave Aiden a look like he was talking nonsense, then looked away.

She just treated his words like hot air.

Monroe was still alive, and Monica hadn’t given up. There’s no way this was over.

If they didn’t pull the weeds out by the roots, they would just keeping back.

“There really isn’t any n for now. Just take a rest,” Landon said.

Night Owl’s expression turned serious. “Are you out of your mind?”

    “We,” Landon replied.

“Now is the best time to finish them off!” she insisted.

    “Yeah,” Landon said.

“Then what exactly am I supposed to do?” Night Owl shot back.

    “Rest,” Landon replied.

Night Owl stood up in anger, her long, slender frame casting an even more delicate shadow under the light.

Aiden discreetly held up his hand to gauge how thin she looked, thinking, ‘She’s so skinny! Is she a paper doll or what?

“Night Owl, the Flying Tiger Sect will make sure Monroe and Monica both die in there,” Tuff said.

“If you Flying Tiger Sect guys were really that capable, you wouldn’t havee begging for my help,” Night Owl sneered, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Back when my husband, Dawson Wiggin, was still alive, you all swore nothing would happen to him. And look how that turned out.”

Aiden made a mental note of that name: Dawson Wiggin.

‘Her husband’sst name is Wiggin?‘ he wondered.

“Am I really that clueless? I’ve never even heard of that surname before!‘

“Night Owl, that was an ident…” Landon’s voice was low and hoarse, filled with a pain he couldn’t quite put into words.

“So, is there going to be another ‘ident‘ this time?” Night Owl sneered. “Landon, since you brought me here, I’ll make sure this gets finished.”

    “Night Owl…”

“No one can stop me,” she cut him off.

With that, Night Owl turned and walked away.

Landon and Tuff scrambled to their feet and hurried after her. “You can’t go!”

“We really don’t need you to step in…”

    They both looked helpless.

Night Owl acted like she didn’t hear a thing, never even ncing back.

Aiden instinctively stepped aside to let her pass, his eyes lighting up with admiration. ‘She’s got real attitude!‘

That unyielding pride of hers was even more stubborn than Amelia!

“Go after her,” Ka said, giving Aiden a gentle kick.

Aiden responded at once, “On it!”

Then he rushed off to catch up with Night Owl.

Meanwhile, Ka was the only one who seemedpletely unfazed. She loungedfortably in the living room, lighting up another

cigarette while no one was around.

She took the chance to call Amelia. “Amelia, how’s Mom doing?

“She’s doing great,” Amelia replied with a smile on the video call.

But when she saw Ka smoking, her expression immediately darkened. “Ka, you can’t smoke.”

“It’s fine. Neither of them is here,” Ka said casually.

“Smoking is bad for your health…” Amelia said, her voice full of concern.

“Not knowing when to get a little jealous isn’t good for a marriage either,” Ka said.

Amelia’s eyes flickered, thinking of the photo Aiden sent.

‘Landon was actually hugging another woman!‘ she thought.

She had to admit, the moment she saw that photo, her heart felt like it had been stabbed, and she could barely breathe.

But she kept it to herself.

Now wasn’t the time to get jealous–she’d wait until Landon took care of the Montgomery family before saying anything.

“Amelia, that woman is pretty, isn’t she?” Ka asked deliberately.

Amelia’s smile finally crumbled, and she looked downcast. “Yeah.”

Even Ka wasplimenting the other woman. As the wife, Amelia didn’t know how she was supposed to feel about that.

Amelia took a deep breath and said, “Ka, if you and everyone else think she’s so great, then I guess I could just…”

“You could what?” Ka pressed, a mischievous glint in her eyes.

“I could let her have my ce,” Amelia said, forcing a bitter smile. “But–the kids areing with me. I want every cent that’s rightfully mine, not a penny less! And Landon can never bother me or the kids for the rest of our lives…”

    “Savage!” Kaughed.

Amelia felt both wronged and angry, but she wasn’t about to make a scene or lose her dignity.

Men were everywhere. She wasn’t about to risk her life over one.

“That woman’s called Night Owl, and she has incredibly powerful hypnosis skills. And get this–Landon actually has to regard her sister–in-

Amelia was stunned. ‘Wait, his sister–inw?‘

“Her husband died, and Night Owl’s has never fully recovered from it. That’s why Landon was hugging her,” Ka exined.

“Oh! So that’s what was going on…” Amelia nodded, her cheeks turning red with embarrassment.

She suddenly noticed the cigarette between Ka’s fingers had burned all the way down, and it hit her. “Kalya, you tricked me just so you could finish your smoke!”
