Chapter 224

    Chapter 224

The Montgomery family’svish coffee made Amelia very pleasant. There were also cherries, lemon juice, and little yogurt cas

    All were her favorites.

‘Even after losing his memory, Landon still remembered what I liked!‘ Amelia realized.

‘But these were all things Monica didn’t like… she couldn’t help but notice.

“Honey, how do you like today’s coffee?” Monica asked, so jealous it almost hurt, as she watched Amelia enjoying herself

“Is there a problem?” Landon asked gently.

“No,” Monica sighed, taking a reluctant sip of her coffee.

‘He may have lost his memory, but so many of his instincts are just muscle memory,’ Amelia thought to herself.

Monica really shouldn’t have let Landon prepare the coffee.

Just then, Paloma chimed in, “Monica, your chef’s yogurt cakes are really something else.”

“If you like them, Paloma, have some more,” Monica said with a forced smile.

    “Mm,” Paloma nodded.

Her especially graceful way of eating caught Landon’s attention.

‘There’s something refined about her. She looks so familiar…‘ he thought.

Seeing that, a spark of delight shed in Amelia’s eyes.

‘Duh, of course she looks familiar! That’s Ka, the sister you’ve been searching for all these years!‘ Amelia thought.

‘Why is she hiding behind a mask? Is it because she’s not good–looking?‘ Landon wondered.

‘No way! With genes like yours, Ka has to be a total knockout!‘ Aphelia thought to herself.

Amelia had never been able to hide her feelings around Landon right now, she was so happy she couldn’t help but break into a smile.

Landon couldn’t help but nce at Amelia a couple more times, frowning. ‘This woman is really odd. Have I met her before?‘ he wondered.

“Babe, your eyes should only be on me,” Monica pouted, grabbing Landon’s chin and turning his head back to face her.

She was utterly spoiled, totally willful, and always had to be the center of attention.

“Okay.” Landon gave Monica a doting smile.

Seeing this, Amelia felt like she’d just been stabbed in the heart–the pain was so sharp, she could barely breathe.

‘Did losing his memory make him fall for Monica? Amelia thought to herself.

“Babe, why don’t you let us girls have our chat? Go take a break and don’t butt in,” Monica said in a sugary–sweet voice.

Then Landon stood up and walked away.

As he walked away, Amelia gazed longingly at his retreating figure, wishing he could stay just a little longer.

After all, chances for her to see him were so, so rare…

If it hadn’t been for Paloma today, she wouldn’t have gotten to see him at all!

“Stop staring. No matter how much you stare, he’ll never be yours,” Monica said with a smug grin.

Amelia’s heart sank. She was just about to look away when, out of nowhere, Landon suddenly turned around and met her gaze head on

He looked at her, a trace of confusion flickering across his face. ‘Why do you look so sad? Are you a part of the memories I’ve lost?‘ he wondered.

    Amelia’s jaw dropped in shock.

‘He… he knows he lost his memory!

‘Ahhh! I knew it–he’s not that easy to fool! Even with amnesia, there’s no way he’d just let people push him around, Amelia thought

‘Maybe, just like Paloma, he’s secretly trying to save himself‘ she realized.

‘Landon, you’re the best!‘ she cheered inwardly.

Tears welled up in Amelia’s eyes, and she quickly covered her mouth to keep from sobbing out loud.

Her heart was pounding wildly with excitement.

Seeing her like that, Landon felt a strange heaviness in his heart for no reason at all!

He just wanted to go over andfort her.

    But…

‘Forget it,’ he told himself. ‘I’ll wait until I remember everything. If I hug her now, that’d be way too much–and Monica would totally get suspicious.”

So, Landon turned and walked away, his tall figure disappearing up the spiral staircase.

At this moment, Amelia couldn’t hold back anymore–she buried her face in her hands and started to sob, her shoulders shaking with the effort to keep

    quiet.

“Amelia, what’s wrong?” Paloma asked gently, feigning innocence as if she had no idea what was going on.

But Amelia just kept crying, not saying a word.

    “Serves you right!” Monica sneered.

    “Monica?” Paloma turned to her.

Monica shook her head. “It’s nothing. Paloma, when are you nning to head back?”

“What, you’re already trying to kick me out when I just got here?” Palomaughed. “I hardly ever get out, so I was thinking of crashing at your ce for a few days.”

“Huh?” Monica let out a sudden cry.

It felt like she had just swallowed a bug.

‘If Paloma stayed over, wouldn’t that mean Amelia would be staying too?

‘Ugh, no way! I absolutely do not want them staying here together!‘ Monica fumed inwardly.

“Monica, what’s with that face?” Paloma said, hiding augh behind her hand. “You’re about to be a bride–you should learn to be a bit more proper.

    Chapter 224

“Paloma, don’t ruin our couple time! I’ll book you a hotel,” Monica said.

“A hotel? How could thatpare to your ce? Besides, it’s not even that safe,” Paloma replied.

    “Paloma…” Monica started.

“I’m staying at your ce. You handle the arrangements,” Paloma said, leaving no room for argument.

As Paloma had made up her mind to stay over, Monica had no choice but to agree.

She pretended to have the servants make arrangements, but secretly kept texting Aiden, hoping he’de to take Amelia away as soon as possible

Amelia calmed down after crying for a bit.

But she’d lost her appetite for coffee and cakes. “Can I go for a walk in the garden?” Amelia asked softly.

    “No, you can’t-” Monica began.

“I’ll go with you,” Paloma interrupted.

She was already leading Amelia out before Monica could finish.

Monica was left stomping her foot angrily.

‘Is Paloma here just to mess with me?‘ she fumed inwardly.

To make sure Amelia didn’t sneak any little notes, scraps of cloth, or old keepsakes to Landon, Monica had to stick close and keep an eye on her herself

The three women strolled through the beautiful garden, each lost in their own thoughts.

While they were strolling, Landon stood behind the curtains on the second floor, peeking through a gap as he watched them, his frown growing deeper and deeper.

After a long moment, he muttered under his breath, “Amelia… Edwards…” drawing out each part of Amelia’s name,

Too bad he didn’t have a phone or aputer–otherwise, he could’ve just Googled her and figured out who she really was.

Suddenly, a sharp pain red up at the back of his head. He let out a muffled groan, clutching his head as he crouched down.

It took a whole ten minutes before he finally managed to recover.

By the time he got up and looked outside again, the three women were nowhere to be seen.

With a heavy heart, he withdrew his gaze,y down on the bed, and stared nkly at the ceiling.

‘Who am I? Where did all my memories go?‘ he wondered to himself.

The servants had arranged the rooms, and Amelia and Paloma ended up staying in rooms right next door to each other.

One was pregnant, and the other wasn’t in the best health, so after their stroll through the garden, they both took na

Monica sat alone in the living room, fuming.

Finally, as dusk settled in, Aiden arrived. “Where are they?” he asked.

“They’re sleeping,” Monica said, pouting miserably. “Aiden, why did you let here too?”

“I’ll take her away right now,” Aiden replied, his nerves frazzled the entire way over.

It wasn’t that he was worried Landon might remember something–what scared him was that Amelia might get too upset and put her pregnancy at il

Dr. Shawn had already warned him: this pregnancy was hard enough for Amelia. If she lost the baby, she might never be able to have children again

And as the heir to the Kyle family, Aiden was expected to have a son, no matter what.

“Come on, let’s get moving,” Monica said as she hurried to open Amelia’s door. “Miss Edwards, Aiden’s here to take you home.”

Amelia had already woken up and was just sitting there, leaning against the headboard, lost in thought.

When she heard that Aiden had arrived, she snapped to attention.

“Don’t be scared, I’m just here to take you home, that’s

    all,”

    Siden

said quickly, trying to reassure her.

Monica looked away in disdain. ‘Such a pushover! Can’t he be a little tougher for once?‘ she grumbled inwardly.

“Mr. Kyle, can we talk alone?” Amelia asked, still propped up against the headboard, not moving.

Aiden hadn’t had a real conversation with her in ages, so he immediately agreed. “Sure.”

“Can’t you just talk on the way?” Monica said, her tone full of irritation.

Aiden shot her a re that could kill. “Out.”

Monica had no choice but to awkwardly walk out, and as she turned around, she nearly jumped

    away.
