Chapter 150
That night, Landon received a message from Lunova. “Boss, the Meyers family can’t locate the medicine at the moment and is asking for a few mors days. By tomorrow afternoon at thetest.”
“She’s just stalling for time!” Landon sneered coldly. “Got it. I’ll pull an all–nighter to wrap things up. By tomorrow, I’ll have the Meyers family out of Project Azureveil for good!
“And that’s not all,” Landon paused deliberately, his voice icy. “Make sure they understand the real price of leaving Project Azureveil. That family won’t </bst another day in Lunova!”
“Understood, Sir.”
After hanging up, an evil smile appeared on Landon’s lips. ‘It’s been a while since I flexed my muscles. The Meyers family will be good practice, he thought.
“Who were you talking to, Honey? What’s up with the Meyers family?” Amelia stepped out of the bathroom, drying her hair as she spoke.
Wrapped in nothing but a towel, Amelia looked soft and inviting, like a sweet treat. Landon put away his intimidating look and beckoned. “Come here.
“No way!” Amelia shot back immediately.
‘If I go over there, he’ll just want to get freaky again,‘ Amelia thought, blushing helplessly. Her legs were still shaky, but his core strength was immense. Just thinking about it made Amelia blush.
Amelia couldn’t help but wonder, ‘His core is rock solid, so why are his legs still so weak?
‘Sometimes he’d even im his bad legs made it inconvenient and ask me to take the lead on top,‘ Amelia thought, rolling her eyes.
Landon wheeled himself over and teased, “Honey, your face is so red. Are you thinking about something naughty?”
Amelia quickly backed away, waving her hands in a fluster. “No, it’s just warm here.”
“Then let me help you cool down,” Landon said with a teasing smile.
“There’s no need,” Amelia replied quickly, shing a shy smile as she dodged away. She darted into the walk–in closet, hiding herself away in a fluster. Meanwhile, Landon burst into heartyughter.
Amelia’s face burning, she muttered in the walk–in closet, “That shameless man is always teasing me!”
She opened the wardrobe and slipped into a fresh silk nightgown. But suddenly, silence fell outside.
Amelia peeked out suspiciously, only to find Landon was nowhere to be seen. Outside the window, it was pitch–ck. No stars or moon in sight. The clock’s hands pointed to 10 p.m.
‘Going out thiste?‘ Amelia thought, feeling uneasy.
She headed downstairs to check. Gloria had already gone to bed, leaving the house inplete silence. But Landon was nowhere to be seen.
“Where did he go? He wouldn’t be out clubbing thiste, would he?” Amelia muttered, a hint of worry in her voice.
“Last time, he nearly passed out drunk in ine’s arms. Isn’t he afraid of getting drunk again and letting her take advantage of him?” Amelia grabbed a random set of car keys and headed out to find Landon.
‘I’ll keep an eye on my husband!‘
As soon as she reached the garage, Landon’s deep, warning voice cut through the darkness, “Now that your face has healed, cherish it and stay out of Norava. Don’te here looking for trouble again.”
ine cooed, “Landon, I came all this way just for you. Look at my facel Go on, touch it. See? It’s perfectly he alde ha
ine’s sickeningly sweet voice sent shivers down Ame’s spine. The garage was swallowed by the Inky darkness of the cold night
Amelia couldn’t make out either of them in the darkness, hesitating over whether she should slip away quietly. Given Landon’s temps, the va he’d ever get involved with ine. Amelia was sure of it.
Amelia thought, “It won’t be long before ine runs off in tears again, just like before. Standing here like a spectator waiting for the drama wouldn’t be right.
“ine, do you know where my sister Ka is?” Landon’s voice rang out again, and Amelia froze mid–step, a wave of intense unease surging through her
ine hade prepared. “Yes.” ine nodded with a pout. “Landon, I know you’ve been searching for Ka all these years. I may not be incapable
but I’ve been secretly helping you look for her.”
“Then where is she?” Landon’s voice was impatient, his agitation unmistakable.
Amelia clutched at her chest, her delicate brows furrowing in distress. Just like in those cliché TV series, ine’s about toy down her conditions, Amelia thought.
ine said softly, “Rest assured, Landon. Ka’s doing well these days.”
“So where is she?” Landon demanded, his voice rising with urgency.
“Landon, you’re scaring me!” ine whimpered pitifully, letting out soft sniffles.
Landon took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down. He softened his tone and said, “ine, please, tell me. Where is Ka?”
ine stamped her foot petntly, putting on her spoiled princess act. “You’re always pickin
on me. I’m not telling you!”
Amelia had already guessed ine’s game. She was trying to force Landon to divorce her and marry ine instead.
If it were anything else, Amelia would’ve just gone back to bed without a second thought. But when it came to Ka, her confidence faltered.
Amelia couldn’t help but recall the crude joke from Zachary’s rowdy friends, “A wife is like a coat. You can always get a new one. But siblings? Once they’re gone, they’re gone forever.”
‘Would Landon treat me the same way?‘ Amelia wondered, her heart tightening with uncertainty.
“ine, don’t push me too far!” Landon’s patience finally snapped. His furious growl tore through the darkness like a wild animal.
ine pouted, “Landon, shouting at me won’t help. My father holds all the information about Ka. The only way you’ll get it is if you divorce Amelia and marry-”
“Get the hell out of here!” Before ine could finish, Landon cut her off furiously.
Even through the pitch–ck night, Amelia could sense his fury rapidly escting until it reached its boiling point. Worried he might hurt himself in his anger, Amelia flicked on the garage light and called out, “Honey, who’s got you so upset?”
Silence lingered for a moment before Landon wheeled himself out, his voice deliberately calmed as he said, “Nothing important, Darling. Don’t trouble yourself with it.”
“So Ka means nothing to you now, Landon?” ine snapped, strutting out from the darkness in her stilettos, her voice sounded vicious, and her face was almost as good as new.
‘Wow, which clinic has such an incredible skin specialist?‘ Amelia marveled.
ine crossed her arms with a contemptuous sneer. “Amelia, you must have overheard our conversation, right? How shameless! Eavesdropping in your own home.”
Landon shook his head. “Ignore her.” He took Amelia’s hand and wheeled back toward the house.
A soft night breeze swept by, the silk nightgown clinging to her body and entuating every alluring curve. Landon frowned, taking off his jacket and handing it to her. “Here, put this on.”
“Huh?” Amelia blinked, puzzled.
“Too many eyes in the house. Be more careful from now on.” Landon’s expression darkened with displeasure. ‘Only I get to admire how stunning my wife’s figure is. No one else gets that privilege!‘
Amelia finally caught his drift. With an amused smile, she took the jacket and slipped it on. Meanwhile, ine was left standing, pletely ignored.
Damn it! I even yed the Ka card. Why isn’t Landon moved at all?‘ ine thought viciously, ‘Fine! I’ll go
ine spat, “Amelia, you sick bitch! How dare you keep hogging Landon like this?”
“ine!” Landon snapped before Amelia could react.
However, Amelia soon stepped forward and said firmly, “I’ll handle this!”
after Amelia then!
She held Landon back, then turned to face ine, who was seething with anger. With a calm, almost mocking smile, she said, “Still as pushy as ever, Ms. Atkinson? So, if I leave the Kingsleys, will you bring Ka back? Is that the deal?”
“Of course!” ine’s eyes gleamed with triumph, thinking she had won. “Amelia, it’s about time you know your ce. Get the hell out of this house now!”
Landon’s heart sank hearing Amelia’s words. ‘My wife doesn’t want me anymore?‘ he thought, his heart sinking.
“Fine. Bring Ka here. The moment she enters the house, I’ll leave this house,” Amelia said calmly.
Landon squeezed his eyes shut, gripping the wheelchair arms with his knuckles turned white to keep him from exploding.
‘Amelia, what the hell are you talking about? I never agreed to her terms. How dare you say yes? What gives you the right?‘ The pain was unbearable. A storm of fury churned inside Landon, but he choked it all down before a single word could reach Amelia.
ine narrowed her eyes at Amelia, suspicion written all over her face. “Do you mean your words?”
“I am,” Amelia nodded. “How about tomorrow? It’s only a two–hour/drive from your ce to Norava. That should be plenty of time, right?”
“No, no. That’s not enough. I–I’ll need a few more days,” ine suddenly stammered, her eyes darting away nervously.
Amelia let out a coldugh, her piercing gaze seeing right through ine. “ine, you don’t know Ka’s whereabouts, do you?”
