That one hit Louis hard. His jaw tightened in frustration–but deep down, he couldn’t argue. If someone couldn’t even handle their own family, how could they be trusted to run a business? Sharon… because of her. this deal was falling apart- and at this rate, it was going to be the end of him. She’d really pushed him <b>over </b>the edge this time.
What really stood out, though, was how differently Ste treated Abraham. After returning to the Reed family, she never once acknowledged Jonathan as family–let alone called Patrick and Susan her parents.
But he got it. People open up to those <b>who </b>treat them well.
The Reed family had always poured everything into Lillian and treated Ste like she didn’t exist. With her personality, it made perfect sense she’d give them the same cold shoulder in return.

Louis hesitated, then asked. “So the Dawsons? They’re really that different from the Reeds?”
