Altar 66

    Willow prayed 500 times.

She burned the scriptures and shakily stood up. The moment she got up, she nearly fell.

Julian stepped forward to support her. He thought Willow would push him away in disgust, but unexpectedly, she didn’t. Instead, she said tly, “Let’s go back.”

Julian’s feelings were indescribable, like something precious that had been lost and was now found because Willow was willing to speak to him again.

Outside the main hall, a gleaming, luxurious Maybach from Brindley was parked.

Willow walked over, gently stroking the car’s body, murmuring in a low voice, “So, this is the car you’re driving.”

    Julian said yes.

He helped her into the car, and when he buckled her seatbelt, he spoke gently, “I went back to the Ziegler residence and switched to this one. I’ll take you to the hospital. We’ll wait for Grace to wake up together.”

    Willow stared at him intently.”

    Julian’s Adam’s apple bobbed. “S

    you to ler alluch

    think Grandma will wake up?”

will. You have bowed so many times before the altar for her.”

He wanted to wipe the blood off Willow’s face…

Willow turned her face away and said in a calm voice, “I want to go to Lake Tolpond. Julian, take me there, will you?”

Julian turned his head to look at her.

She was actingpletely out of character, but he couldn’t refuse her.

A momentter, Julian stepped on the gas and sped toward Lake Tolpond.

    The midnight wind howled.

Lake Tolpond was where Julian had proposed to Willow. The sunset there was famous. It was there that, Julian had once said that, in his heart, Willow was the most important person.

More than half an hourter, the road widened, and the riverbank stretched into endless darkness.

The same ce. The same car. The same man.

Willow sat quietly, staring into the night ahead of the car. Her voice was calm. “Julian, this ce holds our most beautiful memories. This car

was almost like half a home to us.

“You really understand human nature well. Every time you mess up, you drive this car to remind me of our past. But those memories, to me, are soaked in blood. And yet, you don’t care at all.

“The foundation of love is family, but Julian, we don’t even have that anymore. Get out of the car.”

    Julian frowned.

Willow’s voice grew colder. “Julian, get out of the car.”

Julian was afraid of provoking her, so he had no choice but to step out. He thought Willow would drive away, but instead, she got out as well.

The river roared, waves crashing violently.

A flicker of fire rose in Willow’s hand. She lit her bag on fire, then threw it into the Maybach’s cabin and shut the door.

The mes quickly devoured the leather interior. In mere moments, the fire zed to the sky, breaking through the darkness and illuminating half the night.

Willow had set the car on fire.

    Julian froze–shocked.

It was Willow’s love and Willow’s hatred.

From now on, there was no more love for Julian, only hatred!

The fire illuminated Willow’s face as she looked at her husband. Tears covered her cheeks, but she was smiling. “Julian, I wish you and Catherine a lifetime of love and passion. Stop ruining other people’s lives.”

    Julian’s face turned pale.

Onest time, Willow looked at the man she had once loved deeply. Without hesitation, she turned and walked away…

After just two steps, she copsed straight to the ground.

    Willow had fainted.
