Altar 25

“Julian’s wife is celebrating another man’s birthday behind Julian’s back.”

    “Well, Julian caught her red–handed.”

“Julian doesn’t love Willow, though. I don’t think he’ll make a fuss about it.”

Julian leaned back against a couch ced in a corner of the room. With his ck attire, it was as though he had blended in with

    the darkness.

Even in a ce like that, Julian exuded an air of refinement. He seemed like he could be a celestial being who would never be

tainted by matters of the mortal world.

Julian fixed Willow, who was standing at the door, with an intense gaze.

It was obvious that she had dressed up for the asion.

Willow was wearing a greyish–blue satin dress with a fitted waistline, a pearl ne around her neck, and a pair of diamond

earrings. She also paired her outfit with a handbag and a watch of matching colors.

She looked both elegant and feminine.

No one knew exactly when it was that Willow had started showing these changes.

She started showing this alluring side of her. Men were mesmerized by her presence and every move, including Julian. However,

Julian felt that those were just the effects of hormones and had nothing to do with emotions like love.

As soon as he took care of this primal urge, Julian was certain the attraction he felt toward Willow would fade away as well.

He cast a nce at Willow’s hands. She was holding a beautifully wrapped gift box. It was obviously a gift she had gotten for

    Jeffrey’s birthday…

“So, she was getting a gift for Jeffrey. It wasn’t for me!” Julian thought.

The joy of having seen her the day before vanished instantly at that moment. Julian’s eyes hardened. He was looking at Willow as

if she was the wife who had cheated on him.

There was a strained atmosphere in the room…

Eventually, Natalie braced herself and stepped forward to wee Willow. “I’m so sorry! I didn’t know Julian would show up here today. He’s never attended Jeffrey’s birthday parties before. He’s always said that they were boring.”

    Willow did not me her.

Moreover, she could not even be bothered with how Julian would feel. The two of them would soon be officially separated. Willow

had the freedom to interact with whomever she liked.

She held out the gift. “Happy birthday, Mr. Gibson.”

Jeffrey took the gift from her and smiled faintly. “Thank you.”

Someone cracked a joke at that moment. “Jeffrey hardly ever smiles! Julian’s wife happens to be the first person who’s made him smile. You mustn’t get jealous over this, Mr. Ziegler. You can’t!”

All of them had known each other since they were kids. They dared make jokes about this since they were aware that Julian did not love Willow.

Who would ever care about a woman they did not love? The person that Julian had given his heart to was someone else.

None of them noticed how the man sitting in a corner of the room had an icy look in his eyes. Still, he maintained an unreadable expression on his face. Julian drew on his cigarette and stared at Willow with a stony gaze.

She no longer cared about his feelings, and she even acted chummy with another man.

Willow had not said a word to Julian. At the same time, Julian did not try to act like a caring, loving husband to her. Things seemed to have ended between them…

Those who were present in the room were all very observant and perceptive. Most of them concluded that Julian and Willow would surely get divorced. Their attitude toward Willow changed almost instantly. They became more affable.

Willow looked beautiful that night, and no one would dislike a beautiful woman.

Willow was asked to join the rest in ying a game of truth or dare. She was seated next to Jeffrey. While they were picking their cards, some level of physical contact was unavoidable since they were sitting side by side. There was an unusual atmosphere

    between them.

At the very least, Jeffrey’s intentions were not pure.

In the past, Jeffrey would never join and y a childish game like this. It was obvious that he was making an exception tonight

    because of Willow.

    Jeffrey got a king card.

The others were all waiting for this moment. All of them wanted to hear his honest feelings and ask him if there was someone he

liked. Jeffrey had a calm expression. “I’ll answer the question honestly.”

There was a moment of silence.

His friends were no fools. Besides, Jeffrey’s intention was as clear as day. If it were before, no one would be able to imagine hearing him say something like that.
