Third Person’s POV

Adide seized the opening. Her whipshed out like a lightning strike, coiling tight around Milo’s neck before she yanked him backward with a bone–crushing tug!
Milo lost his bnce instantly, stumbling and crashing to his knees right in front of her.
Standing under the dim, yellow glow of a streemp, Adide looked down at him, her lips curling into a mocking smirk.
“So, you’re Milo Fernandez, the Commander of the Western Royal Guard. You lost.”
Milo looked back over his shoulder. Most of his men were now cold corpses, sprawled haphazardly in pools of blood. The remaining three or four had been backed into a dead end by Avery and Paisley, barely clinging to life.
Then he looked at the three of them. They stood there, posed and steady, as if they hadn’t just survived a life–or–death struggle.
Pureterror, thick as a midnight fog, settled over Milo’s heart.
The rapid, rhythmic beat of hooves broke through the metallic scent of blood in the alley.
“Gamma Adide!”
Ellen arrived with over twenty guards, sealing off both ends of the street.
Back at the guest quarters, Princess Helia’s heart sank the moment she returned from the Pce and realized both Damian and Milo were missing.
Her wolf was screaming that something was wrong.
In this capital, she knew better than anyone that Damian was a total loose cannon who could ruin the country’s interests at any
moment.
‘Get Bobby Potter in here!” Helia snapped at a nearby omega. “Now!”
Bobby was the royal advisor for this trip and the brother of Damian’s mate.
They had been whispering in corners the whole way here; if Damian was doing something stupid, Bobby was in on it.
At that moment, Bobby Potter was sitting in his room, sipping red wine and waiting for the “good news.”
He knew exactly what the n was–they’d spent weeks refining it.
He’d seen Damian sessfully lead Lance away at the Pce gates. The trap was perfect.
‘Sir, Princess Helia wants to see you for questioning,” a cold voice said from outside his door.
3obby set down his ss, straightened his tie, and walked out.
Under the flickering firelight of the main room, Helia’s face was terrifyingly dark, her poise from the banquet long gone.

“Where are Damian and Milo? What the hell are you plotting behind my back?!”
Before Bobby could even bow, Helia mmed him with her Lycan aura.
Bobby stared back, holding his ground.
“Gamma Damian is leading Alpha Lance away. Milo took the assassins to grab Gamma Adide,”
“You said what? You absolute idiots!!”
Helia turned purple with rage, her palm mming against the table.

“Do you have brains or just rocks in your heads?! This is the enemy’s capital, not our backyard! You dared to kidnap her?! Did you think for one second about what happens when this fails?!”
Bobby, however, stayed appoingly confident.

A horrifying thought began to take shape in Helia’s mind.
If it were just Damian and Bobby, they would never have the balls to n this in secret.
Unless… all of this was backed by Lycan Orion. He’d never let go of the grudge.
Helia’s face went ash–gray. She sank into her chair, letting out a long, ragged sigh.

“I warned you all a thousand times… never underestimate your opponent. My father and I spent our lives trying to secure a stable life for our people.”
“Did you see the territories duringst year’s famine? Do you have any idea how little money is left in the treasury? One word of ‘revenge‘ and you’ll leave millions ofmoners homeless. You’ll leave the pups to freeze to death in the winter.”
“This country is going to burn, and you’re the ones holding the matches!”
