Third Person’s POV

Damian was so incensed his back mrs ground together with an audible grit.

He shot back testily, “I’ve been far too busy with military affairs to waste time on cksmithing hobbies. If you’re truly so eager to see our weaponry, Alpha Lance, there will be plenty of opportunities in the future!”

“On the battlefield,” he implied, “you’ll see them soon enough.”

Lance turned his head, his deep wolf eyes staring at him without a ripple of emotion.

Then, the corners of his lips quirked up slightly as he exhaled a single, razor–thin sentence.

    “Anytime.”

    Damian’s heart skipped a beat.

“Wait… is this maniac Lance actually looking for a war?!”

It made no sense. Alpha Howell had explicitly stated that Lance was the one person in the entire coutry who wanted to avoid war a

    all costs.

After all, if war broke out, the Frostfangs would be the first to face the chopping block just to appease the Western Tribe’s rage.

So why was Lance’s every word dripping with provocation?

Lance leaned in, his icy aura closing the distance between him and Damian.

“I believe you and I… actually both need such an opportunity.”

Damian stared at Lance, his mind racing.

Had Alpha Howell intentionally fed him fake intel?

    No–he dismissed the thought instantly.

Howell’s interests were nowpletely intertwined with his own; he wouldn’t dare lie about something this critical,

Damian was egging on Lycan Orion to start a war because he desperately needed a victory to establish military merit and rece his “weak” older brother, Pierce.

To him, this was the perfect time to strike.

The most battle–hardenedmander, Alpha Zander, was in chains; even if he survived, he was never going back to the Bloodscar border.

As for Lance, he had been stripped of hismand. The current bordermander, Alpha Tad, was a joke, and the remaining young Alphas at Bloodscar were significantly weakened without Zander to lead them.

So what did Lance mean by “opportunity“?

A bolt of lightning struck Damian’s mind as realization dawned on him.

    “Of course!”

“An Alpha who has been stripped of hismand only has one fast, violent way to get it back: by triggering a war that only he can

    win.”

He remembered how Lance had reimed the Southern Border from the powerful Dragon Ash Kingdom in just three years–a feat many Northern generals couldn’t achieve in a lifetime.

The more Damian thought, the more he spiraled. A killing machine like Lance would never be content having his fangs pulled to sit in an office forever.

Originally, Damian’s confidence in going to war rested on the assumption that Lance wouldn’t be on the front lines.

But Lance’s attitude tonight suggested he was absolutely certain he could seize back his military power the moment the first shot was fired.

If that happened, the Western Tribe would inevitably be crushed under his ws.

Because she was distracted by her conversation with Adide, Helia hadn’t caught the tense exchange between the two men.

Damian’s wolf was naturally vtile and aggressive; beforeing to the capital, he had been the loudest voice calling for war, acting as if victory was already in his hand.

Now, she could sense Damian struggling to suppress his wildly fluctuating pheromones. It seemed he hadn’t won this particr encounter.

Paradoxically, this made Helia breathe a sigh of relief–it meant Damian might back off a bit at the negotiation table tomorrow and avoid ruining the atmosphere.

Adide, however, had heard every word. It aligned perfectly with the strategy she and Lance had designed the night before: while they wanted to avoid war at all costs, they could never let the Western Tribe sense that hesitation.

To a warmonger like Damian, they had to sell the lie that Lance was hungry for a chance to reim his throne of blood.

Helia’s voice pulled Adide’s attention back.

“I’ve wanted to meet you for a long time. To be honest, my main reason for leading this visit personally was to see you.”

Adide blinked in surprise. Seeing the sincerity in Helia’s wolf eyes, she straightened her posture and replied, “Meeting you is an honor for me as well,”

Thinking of how Helia had navigated the Western power struggles to keep her brother’s throne secure, Adide felt a genuine flicker of respect for the woman’s cunning and iron will.

    The banquet officially began.

The scent of roasting fat and the rich aroma of blood–wine filled the hall.

Lycan Erasmus and Lycan Luna Cami presided over the center of the room.

The Western delegation upied the VIP seats, with Lance and Adide sitting directly opposite them.

    2:18 pm P ppp.

Unsurprisingly, the treacherous Alpha Howell was a no–show, and Luna Skye had sent word she was “indisposed.”

As for Alpha Germain, he had shown up, but he brought Maya with him instead of his Luna, Sidney.

The atmosphere was lively–on the surface.

These high–ranking wolves toasted each other with practiced hypocrisy, acting as if the brutal battles at the border two months ago had never happened.

Lycan Erasmus kept to polite titudes, never once touching on the negotiations.

Meanwhile, Adide and Lance’s subtle performance continued.

To every other wolf in the room, the couple’s rtionship appeared to be fracturing.

Throughout the dinner, they didn’t share a single look. Their pheromones didn’t mingle; instead, they seemed to actively repel one another.

Damian and Royal Advisor Bobby Potter drank and watched them, trying to decipher their auras. Was this a genuine breakup, or just a political show?
