    Third Person’s POV

Ever since Adide took over as Commander of the Ironthorn Legion, she had proven everyone wrong with cold, hard results.

Under her iron–fisted leadership, the Legion didn’t descend into chaos; instead, it became more disciplined and formidable than ever. For the first time, the residents of the capital felt a real sense of security.

Even the old–school Alphas, who had originally scoffed at the idea of a femalemander, had to shut up and show some respect.

However, the more popr Adide became with the military and the public, the more Lycan Erasmus viewed her as a threat.

He ramped up his ns to hollow out the Ironthorn Legion, restructuring his personal guards into the “Obsidian Guard“-a unit that answered only to him.

The members of the Royal Council could see the writing on the wall: Lycan Erasmus‘ next moves were going to be faster, bolder, and a lot more ruthless.

Zander’s vi used to be a hub of power, always buzzing with visitors. Now, after being empty for so long, it looked like a ghost town.

The yard was overgrown with waist–high weeds, and the massive stone wolves guarding the entrance were caked in dust.

Their once–sharp fangs looked dull and forgotten.

When Alpha Zander arrived under escort, he didn’t say a word. He just stared at the decay for a moment before walking inside.

To keep Zander from living in total squalor, Fabian had picked out a few top–tier omegas to handle the cleaning and cooking.

Suddenly, the estate was a whirlwind of dust and activity. The Royal Sentry guards actually had to pitch in, pulling weeds just to clear a path to the front door.

Ulrik, the new head of the Obsidian Guard, didn’t dare show his face during the escort–he was too consumed by guilt.

It wasn’t until Zander was inside that he hurriedly sent over twenty fully–armed sentries to lock the ce down.

Ten guards stayed inside the vi for “close protection,” while the rest circled the perimeter. With four guards at the front and three at every other exit, the estate was a fortress. Not even a fly could get in without a background check.

Shortly after Zander settled in, Luna Skye showed up to visit.

But the Royal Sentry blocked her at the gate without blinking.

“Lycan Erasmus’s orders,” the guard said tly. “Alpha Zander is not to have contact with anyone while he

    recovers.”

Skye didn’t push it. She knew how high the stakes were right now. She just stood outside the iron gates in the biting wind, her eyes red.

She might not be a military star like Adide, but her father was home; if she didn’t show up to see him. she’d never forgive herself.

She felt a tiny, bitter sense of relief that her mate, Alpha Howell, wasn’t in town.

Howell was a pragmatist to a fault; if he were there, he never would have let her ‘risk her reputation” by visiting a man under house arrest.

Lycan Erasmus letting her father stay in his own home instead of a dungeon was seen as an act of mercy by the public.

Skye waited until the cold soaked through her cloak, then sighed, took onest look at the silent stone wolves, and headed back to her carriage.

At the ckthorn packhouse, Adide had finallyposed herself and was listening to Ellen’s briefing

Lance had skipped all his work at the Ministry of Justice to stay by her side, acting as her anchor.

“As we hoped, Alpha Zander is back at his own ce,” Lance said, sounding slightly relieved. “At least he’s not rotting in a cell. The manor is a mess, but it’s still Doyle territory.”

“The Royal Sentry has it on lockdown,” Ellen reported, then turned to Adide.

“If you want to see him, I can try talking to Ulrik. We’ve got aplicated history, but I was his boss in the Legion for years. He might give me a pass.”

Adide nodded gratefully. “Thanks. I have to see him. I need to hear the truth about the border from him personally.”

Once Ellen left, Lance stood up. The rxed, supportive husband vanished, reced by an Alpha radiating pure dominance and swagger.

“Listen up,” Lance announced, his voice steady but powerful. “Starting today, we’re done ying nice. We don’t need to walk on eggshells or worry about who we’re offending

He let out a sharp, confident smirk. “We bled for our rank on the Southern Border. We spent thest six months being careful, and this is the moment we’ve been waiting for. The influence and power we’ve built up is enough to let us run this capital for a year without breaking a sweat. If anyone wants to test us, we’ll break their teeth and clip their ws.”

Adide and Paisley looked at each other, their shoulders finally dropping as they let out the breath they’d been holding

“Lance, we still haven’t heard from Alpha Theodore,” Caldwell reminded them, pushing his sses up.

As the group’s strategist, he was always the one to bring them back to reality.

“Cole’s words at the Bloodscar are still there.”
