Chapter 387: At The Event

Chapter 387: At The Event

We left for the event in a line of sleek vehicles. Along the way, I noticed other cars heading in the same direction, each carrying guests dressed in elegance and power. The closer we came to the venue, the more I felt the weight of where I truly was.

When our vehicle stopped, Kael stepped out first and offered me his hand. Roman helped Raven out of the other side, while the rest joined us shortly after.

And this even was going to be full of the most powerful people in the werewolf world.

"Rx," he murmured, turning slightly to look at me. "You’ll be fine."

"All you need to remember," Lucian said quietly from my side, "is that you are our mate, and no one will dare mess with you. If anything goes wrong, we can handle it."

    I nced at him.

"We are not here to kill anyone," I replied, though I could not deny the spark of thrill his words ignited.

"You never know," he said. "The bitches are everywhere. That shitty smell happens to be everywhere."

I looked at Kael again, silently asking what he expected of me tonight.

Was that permission to do anything? Or trust?

Royal guards lined the entrance, bowing respectfully as we passed.

The room was vast, glittering with chandeliers and polished marble. Dozens upon dozens of guests stood in elegant clusters, dressed invish attire, sses in hand as they conversed with calcted smiles.

I suddenly felt like an outsider standing among royalty.

Kael walked on my right, Roman on my left with Raven in his arms, while Lucian, Jason, and Rafe followed just behind us. We moved as one unit.

Every head in the hall turned towards us.

I felt a little wary, but felt my small figure seemed to be well protected by my tall and powerful mates. No one would dare harm me if there’s any chance that enemies could be anywhere.

It was noticeably separated from the rest of the guests. Isted. Elevated. Significant.

I only hoped he was not nning to announce the truth about me right away. The current attention I was getting was already overwhelming.

Kael guided me to a beautifully cushioned couch, helping me settlefortably. He took the seat beside me, his posture straight, posed, radiating authority as though the ce belonged to him. Even though he was not of the royal bloodline here, there was no denying the regal aura he carried effortlessly.

The Fuck! That’s my mate, bitches.

Kael looked at me, as if sensing a tension rising in me. I quickly offered him a smile, masking the jealousy I was feeling.

Raven sat between me and Roman, small yet dignified in his own quiet way.

From where we sat, we could see the entire hall. And the entire hall could see us.

I just wished if others stop looking towards us and mind their own business.

The Herald’s voice rang out, announcing the arrival of the royal family.

Conversations ceased. Every guest rose to their feet in unison.

For a fleeting moment, a thought crossed my mind.

Not as a guest. But as their daughter. The thought did not ache the way it once might have.

I was genuinely happy for them. Especially for Evan. This was his day. Hising of age. His first shift.

    Their eyes were searching...for me.

A smile curved on Luna Iris’s lips. Alpha Gerald’s sternposure softened. Even Evan’s face brightened faintly.

And in that silent exchange across a hall filled with powerful leaders, a quiet understanding passed between us.

Under everyone’s gazes, the family walked towards us instead of going to the stage. All the eyes were on us now.

"Of course, I did," I said, smiling, "Thank you so much."

"I look forward to it," I was more than willing to ept her affection. "But for now, it’s Evan’s day."

I hadn’t expect her to say it, and felt puzzled for a moment, unsure how to reject it.

Luna Iris agreed, and the three left to go on the stage.

After thest council meeting everyone in the werewolf world must know about Alpha Kael’s mate, who was whoring around for the past six years. I was sure no one would look at me with kindness, but might feel utter disgust towards me.

Somewhere in my heart, it made me feel low about myself now that I was faced with the people of stature and power.
