Chapter 365: Leaving For Vacation

Jason’s POV
"Raven,e to Mommy," she called softly.
He hurried over and climbed onto the sofa to sit beside her.
"We can watch TV here," she told him, pointing toward the lounge screen. Then she gestured toward the dining area. "Then eat food here."
Her finger shifted toward the far end of the caravan. "And then snuggle in bed together."
At the rear stood a wide bedyered with soft cushions and carefully arranged bedding. Light curtains framed the ss windows, giving the space an aesthetic warmth that felt almost like home.
"Will you sleep with Mommy?" she asked gently.
Raven nodded at once.
She pulled him into her arms and hugged him tightly, nearly squeezing the breath out of him, but he did not protest. The joy on their faces was simple and pure. Watching them like that, I silently wished they would have all the happiness in the world.
This vacation was surely going to bring mother and son close, the way they should be.
Rafe and Roman entered the caravan just then. Roman carried a small bag in his hand and went to the kitchen area, while Rafe went towards Eira.
Eira noticed them, and finally asked me the question she had avoided earlier.
"Lucian?"
"He ising," I told her.
She gave a small hum in response.
Rafe moved to sit beside her, settling close enough that his arm rested along the back of the sofa behind her. "You should pay attention to the one who is with you instead," he said casually.
She shot him a sharp re, a clear warning not to speak recklessly while Raven was there.
The bastard had injected enough of that drug into his body to sit there with bold ease, as close to her as he pleased. And I knew he was going to take advantage of that drug entirely before it fades away from his body.
The urge to beat the shit out of him and force that poison out of his veins surged through me. But I swallowed it down. What was done was done.
"Who is driving?" Kael asked.
"Not me," Rafe repliedzily. "I want to be with my girl." He offered a yful smirk, his fingers moving to caress the lose strands of her hair, "right?"
"Whatever," she said and tuned her attention to Raven.
Only if she knew what was going on with Rafe, she would have given him her attention until he could bear to stand it. But he won’t let anyone of us tell her. He would be furious and that would be truly bad.
"I am driving," I said. "We will leave once Lucian is here."
As if summoned by his name, someone stepped into the caravan.
Lucian.
He was dressed andposed, freshly changed, yet the exhaustion from staying up all night was evident in the faint shadows beneath his eyes.
His gaze settling on Eira. "Good morning," his voice hoarse, that showed the fatigue in him.
Relief softened her expression. "You look tired," she observed.
"It’s nothing. Don’t worry," he replied lightly before his gaze met with Rafe.
Just a silent stare.
Lucian broke the gaze and turned to Kael. "We can leave. Everything is set."
He had already spoken with the security in charge before stepping inside.
"You should rest," Kael told him, patting his shoulder. "Don’t overdo it."
Kael was always observant. He noticed everything, yet he chose not to interfere unless it became absolutely necessary.
Lucian gave a faint hum in response and moved to sit in the passenger seat of the driver’s cabin. I followed and took my ce behind the wheel.
I nced at him. "You should rest in bed."
"I am fine here," he said, closing his eyes.
I could clearly see how he and Rafe were going to avoid each other for a while. Rafe upied himself by teasing Eira, hisughter easy and careless. Lucian, on the other hand, chose silence as usual.
I let out a quiet sigh, unsure what to do. Kael and Roman were likely in the same position as I was, caught between the two of them without knowing how to bridge the distance.
Just as we were about to depart, Eira stepped into the cabin.
"Lucian, did you have your breakfast?" she asked softly.
He opened his eyes at once and looked at her. A faint warmth flickered across his features. He extended his hand toward her. She epted it, and he gently pulled her onto hisp.
"Just kiss me and I’ll be full," he said lightly.
Now that they were mates, she no longer hesitated. I found myself quietly pleased for my brother. She leaned in and kissed him, lingering for a few moments before pulling back.
"You still need to eat," she insisted.
"I will," he assured her.
"Something bothering you?" she asked.
Obviously she must have felt the change in air. All of us were quiet unlike being chaotic.
"Will you understand me if I tell you?" he asked.
I wondered if he was going to tell her for real.
"That bastard Rafe bothers me. Will you help me deal with him?" He asked.
She looked at him for a moment before asking, "What should I do?"
"Just stick by his side and keep him busy so he will be quiet to bother me," Lucian said, "Don’t leave his side. Can you?"
She seemed to be little puzzled, but agreed anyways. "I will try to."
He caressed her cheek, and had her into another kiss whichsted a little longer before he let her go.
I focussed on moving the caravan, my mind busy understanding Lucian’s intentions.
Now that Rafe had that drug in his body, Lucian wished him to spend time with Eira, and she wouldn’t reject him.
While being distant from Rafe, he was looking out for him. That’s how Lucian was. Even if angry or upset, or anything, he would never stop caring.
"You should return to your seat. It’s notfortable for you here," Lucian told her.
She hummed in agreement and stepped away. "Rest well. You look tired. And eat as well."
A faint smile lingered on his lips long after she left. He must have been pleased that she came to him on her own, that she worried for him.
"I have already packed breakfast for him," Roman said as he approached the cabin to assure Eira.
"Thank you," she said and left the cabin.
He handed Lucian a meal box, then nced at Eira’s back with a teasing grin. "Lucky bastard keeps getting dessert before the meal."
"Don’t be a jealous ass. It’s not like you don’t get any," Lucian countered as he opened the box.
"Well," Roman said, lowering his voice slightly, "not fortunate like you to have two sources of it."
Lucian shot him a cold re.
Roman merely smirked. "Enjoy the meal," he said before walking away.
Lucian then looked at me.
"I said nothing," I told him.
He knew I would not.
Still, brothers did not need words to understand each other. We read what was left unsaid. The way he and Rafe behaved, the careful avoidance, the tension beneath the surface, everything was clear as water.
"Can we talk about you and him?" I said after so much consideration.
"No," came the firm and cold reply, as he stuffed the food in his mouth, "Focus on your own matter instead."
I let out a sigh, and shut my mouth.
