Chapter 1739

    ?Chapter 1739:

After a brief pause, Steven gave a small nod. “I know where she is.”

They climbed into the car and headed toward the house where Sharon and Josie lived. Standing outside the door, Steven and Jewell nced at each other before pressing the doorbell, both quietly tense. Jewell couldn’t help thinking he hade back to the country only to put himself through misery. If he had known William’s life would unravel like this, he might have simply stayed overseas. Still, William was his friend.

Inside the living room, the sound of the bell made Sharon and Josie stiffen. Worried it might be William at the door, Sharon called out cautiously, “Who is it?”

“It’s Steven.” He kept his tone steady. “We’re here to see Ste. There’s something we need to talk to her about.”

Silence lingered on the other side for nearly half a minute before Sharon finally opened the door. She looked at the two men and said quietly, “She doesn’t want to see you. You should go.”

“We understand she’s upset, but you don’t know the full story. Please — let us exin.”

Sharon’s brows knit tightly as she fought to keep her temper in check. “Exin what? That William and Alisha’s rtionship is somehow fake? I suggest you leave now. Don’t cause trouble here.” She hadpletely lost patience with them.

Just then, Josie stepped into the doorway. The moment she saw the pair standing there, her expression hardened. “Things are already like this. Why do you keeping back? Wouldn’t it be better for everyone if you just let it end?”

Steven drew in a slow breath. “Didn’t you promise me you’d give us a week?”

That only fueled Josie’s irritation. “Yes, I said that. But I also told you that if Ste found out on her own, I wouldn’t keep covering for you. If you want someone to me, me Alisha for parading herself right in front of Ste.” She had never encountered anyone so brazen — showing up in front of Ste after sleeping with William, as though she had every right in the world to do so.

At that moment, Ste came down the stairs and spotted Steven and Jewell standing at the entrance, halting mid-step.

The instant they saw her, the two men pushed past the doorway, brushing aside Sharon and Josie’s attempts to stop them. They stepped into the living room, and when their gazes fell on Ste’s exhausted appearance, an ufortable heaviness settled in their chests.

Jewell moved forward, his voice carrying a quiet plea. “Ms. Russell — please, just listen to what we have to say. Once we’re finished, we’ll leave immediately. We won’t take much of your time.”

Sharon quickly positioned herself between them and the door, trying to drive them back out. “Haven’t you caused enough chaos already? This is trespassing — I could press charges against you.”
