Chapter 1678

    ?Chapter 1678:

Another ssmate who had been listening nearby leaned over and ced a hand on Alisha’s shoulder. “Alisha, you need to let this go. If they really are married, pursuing him isn’t okay.”

Alisha stubbornly shook her head. “He never admitted it to me. Until he tells me himself, I’m not going to believe some rumor. I’m going to confront him right now!”

Watching this, the roommate felt unease prickle down her spine. Something felt very wrong. Just a few days ago, Alisha had mentioned meeting some man at the hospital — someone significantly older than her, but incredibly handsome. She’d imed it was love at first sight. Had she been talking about William?

Alisha brushed off her friends’ concerns and marched out of the auditorium, t-out refusing to believe that William valued Ste more than her.

In the VIP lounge, Ste pushed open the door to William’s private room and found him seated with his breathingbored and uneven. Concern propelled her forward. “Are you alright?”

    ??e ???????? o?? о???? ??o??????n????y o?? ????????оvel??.??????

    William managed a slight nod.

His obvious distress made her decision for her. “Let me drive you home.”

His lips pressed into a thin line. After a long pause, he answered, “Yes. Let’s go.” He had no desire to remain at the university a moment longer than necessary.

Ste guided him out of the main auditorium. They had barely made it outside when Alisha appeared from the opposite direction, her bright voice cutting through the afternoon air. “Mr. Briggs, your speech was incredible!”

She gazed up at William with eyes that practically sparkled, her face lit with an adoring smile. She wore a white long-sleeved dress, her hair pulled up in a high ponytail — the whole effect emphasizing her youth and vitality. Several other Crossroads University students nked her, all of them watching William with undisguised admiration.

William offered no response, sparing Alisha only the briefest of nces.

This time, finding Ste at William’s side didn’t surprise Alisha the way it had before. She simply walked over to them, her voice bright with excitement. “Mr. Briggs, I didn’t think you’d actuallye! I’m so happy you’re here!”

Students lingering nearby caught fragments of the exchange and turned to stare with open curiosity. A cluster of young women huddled together, whispering. “How does Alisha know Mr. Briggs?” “I heard she got an internship at Dixon Group. They probably met there.”

William’s frown deepened slightly. He disliked being the subject of spection, and he liked Alisha’s overly familiar manner even less. He remained at Ste’s side, fully intending to leave with her — but Alisha’s voice rang out again before he could move.

“Mr. Briggs, since you’re here at Crossroads University, why don’t I give you a tour? We have this amazing new Innovation Hub and apletely renovated library. Most of the academic buildings have been rebuilt too!”

One of Alisha’s ssmates jumped in enthusiastically. “She’s right, Mr. Briggs! You hardly ever visit campus — you should take a look around!”
