Chapter 1650

    ?Chapter 1650:

Morning arrived with the faint glow of early light stretching across the sky.

At ten o’clock, William arrived at the Dixon Group headquarters on the East Side, apanied by Luca. Dixon Group was a rapidly rising yer in the new energy sector, and Briggs Group was preparing to establish a partnership with them in the uing quarter. William had made the trip himself, arriving with genuinemitment to personally negotiate with Dixon Group’s top executive.

Hurst Dixon — a sharp-eyed and seasoned businessman in his early fifties — was already waiting. Upon learning of William’s visit, he had gone to the elevator lobby himself to receive him.

The moment the elevator doors slid open, Hurst stepped forward with a weing smile. “Mr. Briggs, wee. I’ve had refreshments prepared in the lounge.”

William shook his hand briefly, then followed Hurst toward the penthouse lounge.

The meeting was held in the penthouse lounge, attended only by Hurst, William, and Luca.

Dixon Group was still in its early stages, and a potential partnership with Briggs Group represented its most critical chance at growth. Because of this, Hurst maintained a consistently deferential attitude throughout, responding to most of William’s remarks with polite nods.

The conversation stretched on for more than an hour. As it wrapped up and the lunch hour drew near, Hurst invited William to join him for a meal. Dixon Group’s in-house restaurant featured several private dining rooms, and Hurst personally led the way.

As they left the lounge, raised voices drifted from a nearby smaller meeting room enclosed by clear ss walls.

“Miss Cooper, your resume is certainly well put together, but we’re seeking candidates with hands-on project experience.”

A second woman, her tone even sharper, added, “You mentioned taking part in a startuppetition while you were in college, but that’s strictly academic experience. It doesn’t align with what ourpany requires.”

From inside the room, Alisha’s voice broke as she responded, sounding on the verge of tears. “I really need this internship. I promise I’ll learn everything quickly and meet your expectations. I won’t let thepany down.”

As William passed the open doorway, his stride slowed — stopping for just a moment.

Noticing this, Hurst assumed the noise from the interview was an inconvenience. He immediately leaned toward the assistant beside him and murmured, “Go check what’s happening. It’s already lunchtime — interviews should resumeter.”

The assistant quickly stepped into the room. The sound of the door opening caught Alisha’s attention, and she turned instinctively to find William standing in the hallway, impable in his tailored ck suit.

For a split second, something bright flickered in her eyes — then disappeared just as quickly, leaving them red and ssy.

The two interviewers followed Alisha’s line of sight and froze briefly when they recognized William. The assistant bent down and whispered to them, and almost immediately, both interviewers stood. “Miss Cooper, we regret to inform you that you do not meet our interview requirements. You may leave now.”
