She hadn’t expected the dose to be that weak. She thought mentioning Ste would make William drink more of the coffee, but he’d barely taken a sip.

    William was sick, fragile even—and Ste was always off working, barely home. That didn’t look like love to Lena. So why was he still so loyal to her?

    She looked like a frightened little deer, all wide eyes and shaking shoulders.
