Chapter 326: Chapter 326

~Devon~
L showed up at our room right after breakfast.
"Your mom said I could train you." She had a big bag with her. "We’re making purification sachets today."
"Finally!" Diana jumped off her bed. "We’ve been asking Mom to teach us for weeks but she’s always too busy."
"Well, I’m not busy. And you two need to learn this before tomorrow." L dumped the bag on the floor. Bundles of dried nts, shiny rocks, and small cloth bags spilled out. "These are for your parents and Killian. Protection against shadow magic."
"How strong can we make them?" I sat down next to the pile. "Like, can they block a shadow attack?"
"If you do it right, yes. But it takes a lot of power. More than one bag can usually hold." L started organizing everything. "That’s why we’re making three. One for each of them. And we’re going to make them extra strong."
"How?" Diana was already sorting through the nts. Smelling them. "What makes them stronger?"
"Different types of protection in one bag. Some push shadow magic away. Some clean it off. Some soak it up like a sponge. All working together." L pulled out three cloth bags. White, gray, and ck. "Each color does something different. White cleans. Gray blocks. ck drinks up the bad stuff."
"So we make one of each?" I picked up the white bag. It felt weird. Tingly. "Or we mix them?"
"Mix. Each bag gets all three types. But in different orders depending on who it’s for." L looked at us. "Your dad needs the blocking one strongest because he’s Alpha. He’ll be getting hit the most. Your mom needs the cleaning one strongest because she’ll be using royal blood. And Killian.."
"Needs the soaking one because of his curse." Diana finished. "The shadow stuff is already inside him so he needs something that sucks it out."
"Smart kid." L actually smiled a little. "Yeah. Exactly."
"So how do we start?" I was already reaching for nts but L pped my hand away.
"Not yet. First you need to calm down. Get your power ready. If you start pushing magic without being calm, you’ll either burn the nts or use up all your energy too fast." L sat back. "Close your eyes. Both of you."
We did.
"Feel your power. That silver light in your chest. Don’t push it out yet. Just feel where it is. Feel how much you have."
"Now breathe. In through your nose. Hold for three. Out through your mouth. Do it five times."
We breathed together. In. Hold. Out.
My power stopped jumping around. Got still.
"Good. Now open your eyes and let’s work." L pushed a bundle of nts toward me. "Devon, you’re making your dad’s. Pick your first nts. Three kinds. Just grab whatever feels right."
I looked at all the options. My hand went straight to wolfsbane. Then silver leaf. Then something L called moon root.
"Interesting picks." L watched me. "Why those three?"
"Wolfsbane because Dad’s a wolf and it’ll know him. Silver leaf because it’s good against shadow stuff. Moon root because," I stopped. Wasn’t sure why I picked it. "I just felt like it was right."
"Moon root makes other nts stronger. Good choice." L nodded. "Diana, your turn. Your mom’s bag."
Diana pickedvender, something called royal sage, and a red flower.
"Royal sage for royal blood. Red flower because it helps with life energy. Lavender because.." Diana paused. "Because Mom likes how it smells and maybe it’ll help her not freak out."
"Smart and nice. I like it." L pulled out thest bundle. "Now. Killian’s bag is different. He needs tough cleaning. We need to hurt the curse without hurting him."
"Shadow thorn." I said right away. "And rot root." I dug through the pile. Found a ck rock. "This. Whatever this is."
"It’s good for breaking curses." L took the rock."
"Alright. Now we build. Devon, start with your dad’s. White bag first."
I took the small white cloth bag. Started putting nts in. But L stopped me.
"Not like that. You can’t just throw them in. You have to put them in the right order. Wolfsbane on the bottom. Then silver leaf. Then moon root on top. The order matters."
I did it carefully. Putting each nt down like it was super important. Because it was.
"Now push your power into it. But listen, this is important, you’re not filling the bag. You’re threading the power through the nts. Connecting them. Making them work together." L showed with her hands. "Like braiding hair but with magic."
I held the bag in both hands. Closed my eyes. Let a tiny bit of power flow from my chest down my arms into the bag.
The nts got warm. Started glowing. I could feel them taking my power. Using it.
I pushed the power through the wolfsbane first. It lit up. Then I moved the power up to the silver leaf. It caught the power and made it bigger.
The moon root exploded with light.
"Stop!" L grabbed my wrists. "Pull back! The moon root is doing too much!"
I yanked my power back fast. The light got dimmer but didn’t go out.
"What happened?" I opened my eyes. The bag was still warm but not burning.
"Moon root is sneaky. It makes everything bigger. You pushed too much power and it made it huge." L checked the bag. "But you stopped fast enough. The nts are okay. Actually." She held the bag up to the light. "This is really strong. Stronger than I thought you could make."
"Is that good or bad?"
"Good. Really good. Your dad’s going to be safe tomorrow." L tied the bag closed with string. "Keep this in your pocket until we leave. Don’t let anyone else touch it."
"Okay." I held it careful. It still felt warm.
"My turn!" Diana had her bag ready. Started putting her nts in the right order.
She did it faster than me. Her power didn’t explode or anything. Just filled the bag easy.
"Show off." I muttered.
"You’re just jealous."
"Am not."
"Are too."
"Kids." L cut in. "Stop. We still need to make Killian’s and that one’s gonna be hard."
"Why?" Diana asked.
"Because we’re not being nice to the curse. We’re being mean. On purpose." L pulled out the ck bag. "This is going to hurt Killian when he wears it. But it’s the only way to slow down the curse enough for him to survive tomorrow."
"Will it cure him?" I asked.
"No. But it’ll give him more time. Maybe a few extra days. Maybe a week if we do it right." L looked sad for a second. "It’s the best we can do."
