Chapter 1736:
Hurley exchanged nces with the rest of the family, and a quiet unease settled among them. The daughter they knew would never meddle in someone else’s love life—especially her own brother’s. She was not the type to push him into a marriage with someone he didn’t care for.
The Jones family had no idea what her real n was, but they chose to trust her and go along with it for now.
“But Bonnie, isn’t this crossing a line? I’m worried it might upset Bain,” La said, adopting a look of concern.
“What’s there to worry about? My brother is single, and he generally goes along with whatever I ask. I could point to any girl and tell him she’s the one, and he’d nod and agree,” Christina said, wearing a confident little smile.
Seeing how certain Christina was, La felt a wave of relief wash over her. She knew the Jones family treated Christina like royalty and rarely refused her anything. As long as Christina was in her corner, her dream of marrying into the Jones family seemed within reach. She was determined to do everything in her power to help Christina win that bet.
La’s cheeks flushed softly and she let out a smallugh. “Bonnie, thank you so much.”
“Don’t mention it. Once I win this bet, we’ll be family anyway,” Christina said, smiling warmly.
She knew she had to go all in if she wanted results—and she was confident the Wade family wouldn’t let an opportunity like this slip through their fingers. They would trip over themselves to hand over the money.
“Bonnie, we’re behind youpletely,” La said with absolute certainty.

Once the Wades had finally gone, a heavy silence settled over the Jones household. Hurley sent all the staff away until only family remained in the living room.
He didn’t beat around the bush. “Bonnie, did you actually make a bet with Bain?”
“No. I made it up entirely,” Christina said, pletely candid with her family.
The others looked at one another in bewilderment. “Then why on earth did you tell them that?” Hurley asked, shaking his head.
“To get the full donation out of them,” Christina answered with a shrug and a lightugh.
Her family exchanged nces and shook their heads, their expressions softening into fond, resigned smiles.
“Sweetheart, if you need funds, we have more than enough. There’s no need to deceive people—it isn’t right,” Florrie said gently.
“Grandma, just trust me. All you have to do is follow my lead and leave the rest to me,” Christina said firmly. “I’m not perfect, but I don’t hurt people without good reason. I have a very clear purpose behind this—you’ll understand soon enough.”
The Jones family looked at one another and finally nodded, agreeing not to press her further on the matter.
“I know you wouldn’t do anything truly harmful,” Beth said, squeezing her hand. “Bonnie, I’m with you.”
Gerry added, “Do whatever you need to do. I’ll back you no matter what.”
Jordy followed, “We’re behind you all the way. Don’t be afraid—we’ve got you covered.”
At that very moment, Bain was still buried in work at the office, pletely unaware that his sister had just used him as a bargaining chip. He didn’t find out until Christina called him herself to exin. Even so, he agreed to y along without hesitation—if Christina was nning something, she had her reasons. His only role was to do his part.
Later that night, a sharp knock sounded at Christina’s bedroom door. Her brows drew together in mild irritation.
Who woulde by thiste?
“Dn, someone’s at the door—I have to go. Let’s talkter.”
“Of course. Take care of yourself.”
“You too. Stay safe. Love you.”
“Love you too.”
Christina blew a kiss at the screen and ended the video call. She took her time crossing the room to see who it was.
