Chapter 1677

    ?Chapter 1677:

Zahir pushed down his distaste and, forcing a stiff smile, said, “This actually tastes good.”

“Really?” Christina lit up instantly. “Mr. Wade, you and I clearly have the same pte!”

Zahir kept his expression steady, though the smile didn’te easily. “Yes, it seems we enjoy the same food.” He cast a pointed look at the rest of his family, silently urging them to taste it and react ordingly. To Christina, this dish was precious — she genuinely wanted them to like it. It was their chance to earn her goodwill, and they couldn’t afford to waste it.

Marsha’s brows knit slightly as she battled her revulsion and lifted a small bite of the scrambled eggs with zhini to her mouth.

“Oh! This is surprisingly good. I never thought eggs and zhini could taste like this. Bonnie, you really do have excellent taste,” Marsha said, shing a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes.

Jaxen and La watched their parents eat, then approached the dish as though facing a grim trial. They each took a cautious bite — and despised it instantly, the vor nearly impossible to swallow. Both of them struggled to force it down, their smiles stretched painfully thin.

“Is it good?” Christina asked brightly, eyes fixed on them with hopeful anticipation.

Jaxen and La nodded, their expressions strained. “Yes, it’s delicious.”

“Then have a little more,” Christina said, lifting the serving spoon and portioning out the remaining scrambled eggs with zhini onto each of the Wades’ tes.

A sharp glimmer shed in her eyes, paired with a faint, knowing smile. For those who enjoyed the dish, it was a pleasure. For those who didn’t, it was pure torment. Because the Wades had always forced her to eat food she disliked, Christina had decided it was finally time to flip the script.

The Wade family stared at the mounds of scrambled eggs with zhini piled before them, desperately clinging to their smiles. Was she doing this deliberately? She knew perfectly well how much they hated it, yet she was pushing them to eat every bite.

“Go on, have some more,” Christina encouraged gently, her eyes sparkling with expectation.

Left with no alternative, the Wades slowly chewed through the dish under her unwavering gaze. Their stomachs turned, but they had no choice except to endure it. Their hatred for zhini had always run deep, and now it sat directly in front of them, inescapable.

“Wow! You’re incredible — you finished everything!” Christina eximed, feigning admiration as she surveyed their empty tes.

Jaxen felt resentment twist in his chest, yet he kept his smile in ce. “Bonnie, since you adore zhini so much, why don’t I prepare an entire zhini feast for you next time?”

“Of course! Thank you, Jaxen. You’re always so kind to me,” Christina replied sweetly, smiling at him.

The warmth in her voice made Jaxen momentarily lightheaded. It seemed their suffering hadn’t been entirely pointless — they had sessfully earned Christina’s approval. Her manner toward them had shifted, growing noticeably softer and more affectionate. Jaxen, in particr, adored the way she spoke his name. It made him feel invincible.

The rest of the Wade family exchanged satisfied nces as they watched the two of them draw closer. In the end, choking down an entire te of scrambled eggs with zhini had been worth it.

Elliott observed Christina in silence, a subtle smile resting at the corner of his lips. The Wades were being yed like amateurs, yet they were utterly pleased with themselves. He knew Christina’s sweetness was an act designed to trap them — but even so, a quiet part of him felt envious. If only she would devote that much effort to manipting him. Even knowing it was a trap, he would walk straight into it.
