Chapter 1634

    ?Chapter 1634:

“Bonnie, partner with me and we’ll take the lead easily,” Bain said with an easy smile, certain Christina would side with him.

La tugged Jaxen forward and reached out to ce Christina’s hand into his — but in the same moment, Christina smoothly slipped her arm through Bain’s instead. A flicker of awkwardness crossed La’s face, freezing her smile for a split second.

“Bonnie, you should go with Jaxen,” La urged, recovering herposure. “He’s really good at golf.”

Jaxen swallowed his annoyance, offered a measured smile, and held his hand out to Christina. “Bonnie, if you choose me, I promise you won’t regret it. Even if we don’t take first ce, I won’t let use inst,” he said with practiced sincerity.

Everyone’s attention settled on Christina, waiting for her choice.

Bain lifted his hand and lightly tousled her hair, his tone gentle and indulgent. “Pick whoever you like. Don’t pressure yourself — losing is fine.”

That soft, unhurried gesture sent a fresh wave of jealousy through La. She had chased after Bain since childhood, always trailing behind him, yet she had never once seen him show this level of tenderness to anyone. Bain had openly doted on Christina — warm, essible, pletely unlike the distant and untouchable figure La had always known. She had always believed he was emotionally reserved, someone who rarely let warmth show. Only now did she understand that warmth had simply never been meant for her. The realization stung.

“I choose Jordy,” Christina said with a smile, pointing toward him where he stood off to the side.

Jordy, worried he might hold Christina back, hadn’t even dared suggest himself as her partner. So when she picked him, he was visibly moved. “Bonnie, are you sure you want me?” he asked, both touched and anxious.

“Yes! I want to be on your team,” Christina said, nodding firmly.

Jordy scratched his head. “But I’m terrible at golf. If you team up with me, we’re definitely going to lose.”

“We haven’t even started yet — how can you be so sure?” Christina replied, her voice steady with quiet confidence. “Maybe luck will be on our side.”

“Bonnie, you should team up with Bain,” Gerry cut in, slinging an arm around Jordy’s shoulder with a grin. “I’ll go with Jordy.”

“That’s fine with me,” Jordy agreed quickly, unwilling to hold Christina back.

“No, I want Jordy,” Christina insisted, a hint of stubbornness coloring her tone. “If I can’t team up with him, then I’m not ying.”

Her brothers exchanged a look and immediately yielded.

“Bonnie, don’t be upset — I’m just worried you’ll lose,” Gerry exined.

Jordy followed up at once. “Sorry, Bonnie. I shouldn’t doubt myself like that.”

“You should choose whoever you want,” Bain said simply. “I’ll team up with Gerry.”

The Jones siblings arranged their teams without sparing the Wade siblings so much as a nce. La watched them pair off so effortlessly, pletely ignoring her and Jaxen, and rage red quietly in her chest. But with Christina having insisted on Jordy, she had no opening to interfere.

Jaxen, though unhappy, kept hisposure and offered a faint smile. “Bonnie can pick whoever she likes. La and I will be a team.”

Eager to tilt things in her favor, La shed a sly smile and proposed, “Let’s y the Par 5 hole and add a penalty for whoeveres inst. It’ll be dull without something on the line — prizes for the winners, punishment for the losers. That’ll make things more exciting.”
