Chapter 1607

    ?Chapter 1607:

“I’ll ask herter,” Chloe said sharply, anger flickering in her eyes. “And if I find out who threatened her, that person’s finished.”

She caught Christina’s hand. “Someone’s trying to drive a wedge between you two. Christina, let’s just leave the party.”

Chloe knew Christina wasn’t confident with the cello. If they stayed, someone would surely push her onto the stage—and if she faltered, the humiliation would be unbearable.

“Toote,” Christina said abruptly, ing to a halt.

A spotlight zed to life above them, casting Christina straight back into the center of the room.

“Ladies and gentlemen, please wee Ms. Jones to the stage for a cello solo…” said the host.

At once, Chloe lifted a hand.

But Christina caught her wrist gently, stopping both her movement and whatever protest she was about to make.

“Chloe, stay here and enjoy the show,” Christina said with a soft smile, brushing a hand affectionately over her head.

“But you don’t know how to y it, Christina,” Chloe protested, worry tightening her tone. She clutched Christina’s hand and shook her head quickly.

“I forgot to mention—I’ve practiced this piece before,” Christina replied with a light, confident smile.

“Really? And you’refortable with it?” Chloe blinked, wide-eyed like a startled doe.

    “Very,” Christina answered simply.

Relief washed over Chloe’s face. “Okay, then I’m not worried anymore.”

She let go of Christina’s hand and gave her a yful, encouraging gesture. “Go get it!”

“Thanks.” With that, Christina stepped forward—calm, posed, not a trace of anxiety crossing her face.

The spotlight followed her gracefully, wrapping her in a steady, golden glow.

She looked like a rose adorned with thorns: elegant, untouchable, and faintly dangerous.

Watching her poised stride, Vickie found her brows knit together in irritation.

Why wasn’t Christina nervous? Not even a little? Had she somehow nned this in advance?

Impossible. There was no way anyone could improve so drastically in such a short time.

Besides, Christina couldn’t have known she’d be asked to perform today.

Christina sat down with quiet confidence and began to y.

As the prelude rippled through the hall, admiration spread across the audience’s faces like light breaking through ss.

“I thought Miss Cullen yed beautifully,” one guest murmured, “but this is even better—it feels like she’s pulling us right into the music.”

“She’s a prodigy among prodigies,” another added. “She’s brilliant at everything, but I never imagined she could y the cello too.”
