?Chapter 1529:
Her face was fixed in a look ofplete concern—at least, that was the carefully crafted impression she gave.
Anyone watching would have thought she deeply cared about Christina’s health.
Chloe, always trusting and gentle, never questioned Vickie’s kindness and didn’t detect any hidden agenda.
“No, honestly, I’m feeling totally fine now. It’s really not serious,” Christina said with a polite smile as she refused the offer.
Still hesitant, Chloe murmured, “But maybe you should still go—just to be safe. If anything is actually wrong, catching it early is always better.”
“I promise, I’m absolutely fine,” Christina insisted, just as the door to their private room opened again.
Dn entered, his face set in a cold, detached expression. He barely spared them a look before walking straight back to his chair.
Despite his frigid appearance, he was inwardly ecstatic. He believed that if he just kept up the pressure, Christina would eventually say yes to marrying him.
Chloe was immediately offended by her brother’s indifference. “Dn, can’t you see Christina isn’t feeling well? Could you at least try to act like you care?” she said sharply.
“That doesn’t concern me,” Dn replied instantly, his tone so sharp and cutting it seemed to drop the temperature in the room.
In that instant, Vickie felt her heart nearly leap from her chest with anticipation.
This obvious tension was the exact opening she needed to finally win him back.
“Dn! How are you so heartless? You used to love—” Chloe began, but Christina quickly interrupted.
“Chloe, I told you, I’m fine.” Christina gave her hand a subtle, forting squeeze. “Let’s just eat our food.”
“Fine,” Chloe grumbled reluctantly, shooting a fierce, condemnatory stare at Dn.
He was truly impossible, acting so cold toward a woman he had once adored.
???????? ????????????????: g???????ν?????????????
Christina was remarkable, yet he treated her as if she meant nothing.
Chloe simply could notprehend how two people once so inseparable had fractured so terribly.
Dn kept eating, his expression nk and cold, as if he had zero interest in anything happening.
Yet, beneath his calm facade, genuine worry gnawed at him. Even if he suspected Christina was only using this as an excuse, his feelings wouldn’t let him ignore the possibility.
“Don’t take his attitude to heart,” Vickie said softly, turning to offer Christina a supposedly sympathetic look. “He’s always this distant and cold to everyone. You’ll get used to it.”
Vickie delivered the line with deliberate malice, aiming to inflict pain.
Christina had once been the only exception to his rule. Now, he treated her with the same chilling indifference, making the memory of his past affection sting horribly.
“We should eat before everything turns cold,” Christina suggested, stering a fake smile on her face, even as she recalled Dn’s intense passion in private.
“Sure thing,” Vickie responded.
