Chapter 1522

    ?Chapter 1522:

Christina’s brow creased subtly before she returned to her seat. She watched Vickie deliberately sit next to her. Instinctively, she nced across the table at Dn.

Their eyes connected briefly. Dn’s heart immediately swelled with affection, even though he kept his expression cold and distant.

He worried that Vickie might try something deceptive, concerned that Christina could get hurt or upset.

Dn grew restless. He desperately wanted Christina to move and sit next to him so he could properly watch over her. But their current status as “enemies” forced him to just endure the awkwardness.

“Miss Jones, is there a misunderstanding between you and… Dn?” Vickie asked with a pleasant smile. “Maybe you should clear things up right now?”

“There is no misunderstanding,” Christina replied, her tone turning chilly. She clearly did not want to discuss the past.

Vickie nced at Dn and noticed his darkened expression, his eyes radiating a chilling coldness.

Did he really hate Christina this much now? Or was this just a lovers’ quarrel that they would soon resolve?

Vickie dug her nails into her palm. She knew she could not allow them to get back together.

While their rtionship was troubled, she had to take this chance to step in and reim what she felt she deserved.

“Dn, aren’t you going to say something? You used to care about Miss Jones. If it’s just a fight, talk it out. All couples argue, it’s normal…” Vickie pushed intentionally.

She saw Dn’s intense anger, and since Christina wasn’t giving in or calming down, Vickie figured he wouldn’t apologize either. In her mind, a man of his stature—existing at the pinnacle of power, revered by many—would rarely stoop to apologize to a woman.

Dn’s dark eyes fixed on her, filled with a sharp, unsettling coldness. “Miss Cullen,” he said simply. “Are you sure you know your ce?”

That single, icy remark plunged the room into a deep, paralyzing silence.

Vickie immediately closed her mouth, feeling the sting of embarrassment, but a small, secret joy fluttered inside her.

It confirmed her suspicion. His clear contempt for Christina seemed genuine, which meant her chances of reiming him had just improved significantly.

She had wasted years overseas, foolishly believing that removing herself from the picture would benefit her, when in reality, it had just created an opportunity for a rival to steal her ce.

That mistake wouldn’t happen again. From this moment on, she was staying in the country and ensuring she had a job at the Scott Group.

She firmly believed that being around him constantly would, sooner orter, make him fall in love with her.

Clutching that single, determined thought, Vickie felt her mood lift considerably.

Once the appetizers were served, Vickie gestured toward a dish. “Chloe said you really love the creamy pork tenderloin,” she chirped happily. “The creamy pork tenderloin here at Morfort is incredible—you absolutely have to try it.”
