?Chapter 1519:
Dn stood perfectly straight in his expensive ck suit, looking serious and sophisticated, his dark eyes intense, his presencemanding.
Standing side by side, he and Vickie could have been mistaken for the perfect, inseparable power couple.
Christina maintained a slight smile as she met his cold gaze with a hint of defiance.
Dn knew exactly what she was thinking. Immediately, he deepened his frown, letting an expression of profound displeasure settle on his face.
In truth, they were deeply in love, yet here they were, performing the roles of bitter enemies on the verge of a public confrontation. The tension in the air was palpable, thick enough to suggest a major sh could erupt at any moment.
“Her man absolutely deserves a major acting award,” Christina thought to herself.
“Chrissie’s performance is incredible; she is truly the woman I adore,” Dn mused happily.
In their private thoughts, they werevishing each other with the highest praise for their acting skills, quite pleased with their own performances.
To any observer, it looked like a tense, hostile standoff, but the reality between them was intensely sweet.
“Dn…” Vickie said his name softly, trying to inject a note of intimacy, but she immediately felt a freezing chill emanate from him, making her shiver.
Her heart clenched with a sharp pang of shame and hurt. Even now, Dn remained utterly cold and indifferent toward her.
“Dn…” Vickie tried again, hoping to salvage some dignity, but the name had barely left her lips when he cut her off.
“You will address me as Mr. Scott,” Dn said in a cold, detached voice.
If Christina hadn’t been present, he wouldn’t have bothereding.
Ever since Vickie confessed her feelings to him as a teenager, he had rejected her outright. Yet no matter how many times he refused, she persisted.
Dn did not consider himself cruel or heartless toward Vickie. In his view, a gentle rejection might spare feelings momentarily but would only foster false hope and waste the other person’s time.
Let your imagination soar with gα?ησν????s.?ο??
It was far kinder, he believed, to be brutally clear and shut the door decisively, allowing the person to move on and perhaps find genuine, reciprocated affection.
Vickie’s face turned ghostly pale, her eyes reddening as she looked at him with pure, wounded hurt.
After all her painful efforts and mustered courage, why wouldn’t he even look at her? What more did she have to do to earn his notice?
She had spent years abroad, studying relentlessly and striving to be a perfect version of herself, believing it would make him fall in love. It had all been for nothing.
Dn didn’t even acknowledge her existence. He simply walked past her and took a seat.
Deep within those cold, indifferent dark eyes was a tiny, frantic flicker of panic that no one else detected.
“Wait, Vickie just used my first name… Is Chrissie going to be furious about that? How on earth am I supposed to get back in her good graces now?” he wondered.
Dn had just publicly frozen Vickie out, and the rejection felt like a dagger twisting in her chest.
